So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

I know panda those moments mean a lot for sure!
Well done to all the losers today ! That's great motivation for me...keep the stories, good and bad coming.
I did OK today . Making up for the wine last night but it was worth it! Kids and dh are loving all the fresh veg etc....who'd have thought ! I can't believe ds 2 (7) ate some broccoli tonight and some chunky minestrone soup today....miracles do happenGrin
Just shows I had gotten lazy and into a rut with my dinners ! They seem willing to try everything, they are sick of all the same old foods , do here's hoping I can keep this up ....you do need to be organised though ! ...I think that's the secret !

Downloaded MFP 2 days ago! I think this could be my new BFF addiction! It's fab.
Thanks for the tip ladies. Do any of ye have the premium one? Is it worth the upgrade ?

Ellieboolou27 · 07/05/2017 22:32

design there is no need to go premium it's a waste of cash.

Designerenvy · 07/05/2017 23:09

Thanks Ellie, good to know.

WannabeHippyChick · 08/05/2017 06:27

New week, so putting flapjack-gate and the weekend behind me!

369thegoosedrankwine · 08/05/2017 06:38

Weigh in today and lost 1lb! Would've liked it to be 2 but as I 'only' have a stone or so to lose I am going to try and remain positive. Going to try for 2lb this week. Not put off too much as still had a Saturday night drink and meal.

1lb off is better than on!

Ellieboolou27 · 08/05/2017 06:49

369 whoop whoop that's great, a loss is a loss and all the more harder to achieve when you've not got a lot to lose, be proud Smile

Ellieboolou27 · 08/05/2017 06:51

Well done wannabe lets blast this week, I are a whole pack of sensations sweet chilli crisps last night (the big bag) Blush
New day, new week!

lamado · 08/05/2017 07:34

Morning all. I've been really good this week, no snacking at all and I was 7lb down (down to 14.12). Most of that is water weight, I started my period as well, but I'm really pleased, hoping it gives me a boost to stay on track this week.
DH has been avoiding snacks as well and we've both noticed how much more we enjoy meals. Normally I've had almost a portion by the time I serve up (just checking for flavour!!). It has really made me realise how out of control my snacking has been.
Good luck everyone else.

Ellieboolou27 · 08/05/2017 08:31

lamado Star your into a whole new stone!

MissingPanda · 08/05/2017 08:42

Well done 369 and Iamado Star

I've weighed myself this morning and I've lost 4lb, down to 15st 2lb.

Ellieboolou27 · 08/05/2017 08:46

Just weighed and 1lb off, I'm now 13.2
This time next Monday I WILL be in the 12's

Ellieboolou27 · 08/05/2017 08:48

missing that's great! Let's aim for 3lbs off by next week which will take us into a different stone Smile

BeyondStrongAndStable · 08/05/2017 08:53

I'm up a lb today Grin so that's -5.2lbs for the week :)

likeababyelephant · 08/05/2017 08:58

I started the 30 day shred on 2nd may.

I'm 5ft5, weight 11.6 stones. I feel fitter and stronger already. Moving on to level 2 of the shred on Thursday. I stupidly bought a small jar of Nutella when out shopping the other day thinking I could control myself. Half the jar has gone. I've been having Nutella sandwiches before bed.

I can see a slight difference in my body. Looking a tiny bit toned but I'm still quite big. I've swapped my meals to healthier options with smaller portion sizes and reduced carbs. Every meal is cooked from scratch. Cooking is fun.

likeababyelephant · 08/05/2017 09:00

I'm going to start taking measurements instead of weighing myself. Muscle weighs more than fat so I don't want to lose muscle just fat.

Will post and update my stats.

pinkieandperkie · 08/05/2017 09:19

I'm 1lb down which is a miracle as the last few days eating have been shocking.

Well done all on your weight loss.

Lissette · 08/05/2017 09:27

lamodo when I got my weight down before, I noticed that some weeks I didn't lose at all and very often it was linked to my cycle. So I don't get disheartened now if the scales don't budge the odd time.

I'm 12 st 5 so 3lb loss. Not snacking or drinking wine. Have started exercise with a pelvic floor routine and transverses muscle tightening which the postal natal physios taught me tonks ago. Have been swimming too. I'm looking forward to being more functionally fit and strong. And I want to wear skinny jeans. I have to start slow because I'm so out of shape. Well done everyone. You are all an inspiration.

Lissette · 08/05/2017 09:28

Post natal not postal natal!

MissingPanda · 08/05/2017 09:34

Ellie sounds good to me :)

Really must go and do my c25k. Time is getting away from me.

Beyond iirc you're weighing daily? Weight does fluctuate so I wouldn't worry about it, you've still lost 5.2lbs, that's good.

like You're stronger than me. I tried the shred and couldn't complete it without taking a break Blush

Pinkie well done a lbs a lb. If your last few days eating has been shocking just think what you could do if you managed to resist a bit more.

Designerenvy · 08/05/2017 09:57

Well done everyone, ye are all doing so well Star. My weigh in Wednesday, so here's hoping !
I did the 30 day shred about a year and a half ago and I literally cried the first time I did itShock....my tummy muscles didn't know what hit them. It did work though and I really toned up by using it. Didn't make it to level 3 though ! Might give it a go again but I know it'll be so painful !

BeyondStrongAndStable · 08/05/2017 10:03

Yeah I'm weighing daily, I'm not bothered about my 1lb. It'll just add to this weeks loss when the water weight has stopped falling off me Wink

pinkieandperkie · 08/05/2017 10:05

Can you tell me what this water weight is of which you speak Smile

StarHeartDiamond · 08/05/2017 10:07

Morning and well done to all who have showed s loss on the scales or who have managed to avoid the snacks! And good luck for a fresh start to anyone who'd rather forget the weekends eating Smile that's behind us now, onwards and upwards!

StarHeartDiamond · 08/05/2017 10:15

Pinkie - water weight is when you start a new diet from scratch and stick to it very carefully. Your body passes out more urine than normal as it adapts so although you can lose a significant amount of weight, it's said that half of the loss is in water not fat. This slows down over weeks 2-3 so weightloss is not as dramatic.

Ironically the weightloss is more if you are drinking lots of fluids as well as eating high fluid foods e.g. Watermelon. I don't know the technicalities of what's going on but I think it's your body having a good clear-out when you suddenly change your eating habits from all the rubbish to a clean & lean diet.

This doesn't happen for crash dieting btw, you have to be eating and taking in lots of fluids for your body to respond like that.
