So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Hi ladies, I thought I'd share with you that I have been struggling with my weight a lot over the years! Been back and forth to doctors hospital etc it was really getting me down. i got to the point where I wouldn't go out as I didn't have time for all these diets I literally tried everything from the 5:2 , low calorie diet, XLS, juice plus, slimming world the list goes on! Anyway my daughter had this friend who runs her own business and she kindly spoke to me via email and talked about what I wanted, she recommended a natural aid to try, I was a bit dubious to be honest as it was a little pricey, I thought I'd try it and it lasted 9 days i can proudly say I am happy with the results and it has kick started my weight loss and I feel so much happier!! So it's beginning of May and it's onwards and (downwards for me) haha x

Welcome sew

star c25k us couch to 5 kilometres, a running program that gets you running 5k in 9 weeks. At least it does if you stick at it. I've tried in the past but given up for various reasons.

wannabe I don't seem to have an off switch either once I've started. Dd can eat a few chocolate buttons out of a packet and then put them back in the fridge. I have to eat the whole packet so it's easier not to start. Funnily enough dd or ds having chocolate etc in doen't bother me. I only have to eat it if it's mine.

pinkie welcome back on the wagon 😊

Well done Mermaid

I'm an all or nothing! If I get a taste of it I'll only want more, so I just don't have it in the house or I will just end up the size of the house 😂

Been good tonight considering we went round a friends for a meal and they had cheesecake for dessert (my all time fav) and I resisted! Felt very proud of myself. But we did have a risotto full of cheese 😳!!

Designerenvy · 05/05/2017 21:35

My weighing scales is old, so.I weighed myself at work today and I'm a half stone heavier than I thought . Picked up a scales in argos on the way home and it reads the same as the work one Sad
This is the heaviest I've ever been, need to get this off !

Designerenvy · 05/05/2017 21:36

Sounds lovely lub. Good on you for resisting the cheesecake !

StarHeartDiamond · 05/05/2017 21:51

Thanks guys Smile I had another mouthful and it's still sitting there but I'vecredisted, although the bit I've had will mean no loss tomorrow but if I'm lucky hopefully no gain?!

Designer - don't worry, we're all in the same boat here, let's keep on encouraging and we'll get there Smile I'm sure being on here has helped me resist the takeaway tonight!

Well done luli for resisting the cheesecake, a tough one!

Designerenvy · 05/05/2017 21:57

Thanks Shark ! It's great being on here. Good on you for resisting the take out ! That's will power !
I do feel more determined this time so here's hoping!
Finding this thread great .

Happy Friday Everyone!! Just a small gallon of sauvignon blanc tonight! I've got my reload meal tomorrow night - hooray! - I think it's just going to be fish annd chips, and my favourite easy burn breakfast in the morning - a big brancake, grilled ham and eggs and a big mug of coffee. This makes it so easy to get through the week. Especially as I'm 2 pounds down on last Friday. Onwards!!

MumIsRunningAMarathon · 05/05/2017 23:47

MN that breakfast sounds fab!

Breakfast is definitely best meal of the day when done properly

SharkSkinThing · 06/05/2017 06:38

Happy Day 6 (or whatever day people are on!).

So pleased Friday is done, I find Friday the night I want to relax with the wine and nibbles. And it's been such a tough week.

But nice to wake up feeling clear headed and in control! Just need to stay on track over the weekend and make Monday a fast day, in time for Tuesday's big reveal!

What are people up to? Chores this morn then swimming with DS and friend this avo. Making a healthy chicken curry in the slow cooker for tea tonight.

🌟

369thegoosedrankwine · 06/05/2017 07:21

I avoided the wine too shark. Big achievement for me. I did have 2 vodka and diet cokes but feel fresh and ok this morning. Managed to stay under 1300 calls so happy with thatSmile

Got ds at football today then guests staying tonight so entertaining without over eating.

Designerenvy · 06/05/2017 07:55

I avoided the wine also. Tonight won't be as easy cos my mum is coming to stay and that'll be hard cos we always have a bottle but we'll see cos she's being Good too.
Off to the school to.help out with refreshments for the holy communion kids and their families. All those nibbles will be tempting ! I'll have to control myself but first I must make sandwiches for it and last night night made rice Crispie cakes, the smell of melted chocolate was cruel !
Have a great day all, will check in later !

Ellieboolou27 · 06/05/2017 08:12

Morning all, stayed away from temptation last night but feel bloated and sluggish this morning, ahhhh this pmt goes on so long since having kids Sad
Meeting some old work colleagues for lunch today, 2st heavier than when I last saw them!

Have a good day all, good luck with the chocolate krispies designer, I know that if I was in your house you'd probably be making a second batch now Grin

StarHeartDiamond · 06/05/2017 08:22

Morning! Well done to all who resisted last night and just start fresh today for anyone who didn't Smile

Designer - thats amazing that you didn't cave in to the crispie cakes! Stay strong today, it sounds like there'll be a bit of temptation going on but push through it!

And good going shark, the Friday night nibbles and wine (and takeaway in my case) are hard to ignore but it will be worth it Smile

369, I find guests situations really difficult because of the expectation of joining in, it's so easy to throw all resistance out of the window but focus on waking up tomorrow still on track.

It's all these small things that add up to weight loss. If we make an effort every day to curb the rubbish intake it all adds up.

Last night I came down to pick some more at the takeaway but dh had already chucked the remainder out (having realised I was wanting to not spoil my diet - my diet status changes so often, he can't keep up! Grin) which I was very happy about. I didn't miss it at all once it was gone. Today I'm half a pound down so still feeling positive.

Seav · 06/05/2017 08:49

Your DH did well Star!

I didn't manage to resist the wine last night or record on WW. Had an unsettled day but not even close to a legitimate excuse. Regret it today (although, to be fair, it was much better than my regular Friday eating and drinking).

Just going to but a line under than and get straight on with it today! I suppose I could attempt to log it all on ww...might be a useful exercise!

MercuryRising · 06/05/2017 08:54

May has not started off well for me. My car has broken down, dd id having issues at school and work has been stressful. I have used all of these things as an excuse to eat rubbish but it needs to stop now. I am going to start logging my food again and reading this thread each day for motivation!

Ellieboolou27 · 06/05/2017 09:11

seav I've had a few days like this, your right to just put a line under it, what I find is that by logging it all (I'm using mfp) I can't fool myself into thinking the diets not working when I can see that I've not really stuck with it.
I've only lost 2lb so far but started last week in April and looking back I've only really stick to my calorie allowance for 4 days out of 10 Blush
Weigh in on Monday but if I don't lose or only lose a 1lb I know it's because I've not really been honest.

It's taken me 20 months to get this fat, realistically I can't lose it just by being good a few times a week.

New day now so let's stay focused Smile

Seav · 06/05/2017 10:03

Sorry about your bad start to May MercuryRising - hope the rest of the month improves for you. The mental boost from getting on top of the eating and drinking and seeing a weight loss will help at least.

Thank you Ellieboolou27 - how true! I haven't logged yet but...about to go in now...May see if I can reset my WW week Sat-Sat.

Seav · 06/05/2017 10:30

Yep - it was pretty bad - 63 points!
I have 32 points a daily + 42 weekly points.
This week I have had 44, 32, 37, 42, 63 Mon-Fri. I now have -13 weekly points left (as I had 3 fit points that have been used). If I didn't have an issue with my back and foot I could attempt to earn 13+ fitpoints this weekend but...that's unrealistic.
Decided to keep it mon-mon for now and view this week as a trial-and-error/transition week. Definitely going to start recording straight away and upload the app on my ipad and phone now. Plan for the weekend is to stick as close to daily points as I can.

Ellieboolou27 · 06/05/2017 11:22

seav you've done it! Taken accountability, its when I say oh well I've spoilt it now so may as well start next week etc, that's when we get bigger and bigger,

Just keep logging it all, I ate 12, yes 12 mini milky ways on Wednesday night, it came to 876 calories Blush lesson learnt, I will not buy multi packs of sweets for dd's as mum is a greedy pig who can't be trusted

ImogenR · 06/05/2017 11:32

No regrets everyone! Life is for living. Food and wine are part of it and have to be. You can diet and still have fun. In fact I'd argue that you must enjoy it all or else you will surely crack. Just find a way to make it work in your life and routine and the pattern of your days. This is not just a diet. This is our life we don't get to do it again.

MissingPanda · 06/05/2017 11:58

Arrgh...Ds has just been out and come home with a pack of jam doughnuts for me. I was strong and told him I couldn't have them but I feel so guilty because he's done something nice and I've had to say no.

StarHeartDiamond · 06/05/2017 13:28

Aw panda, that's so sweet of your ds! Could you tell him of course you'd love one etc and take a bite then hide it, or just take one and bin it when he's not looking?

MissingPanda · 06/05/2017 14:42

Star ds is 24 and although he has asd he is at the mild end of the spectrum so able to understand why I can't eat them. The guilt is just me not eating them when he has done something thoughtful. Anyway all is well that ends well. I have resisted the doughnuts and ds, who has always been insistent that he doesn't like jam, has decided that he's going to try them just in case he now likes jam. Okay jam may not be the healthiest of foods but if he does decide he likes it it may encourage him to try other things that he previously hasn't liked. He generally has a healthy diet but I like to include things like onions in dishes which he doesn't like so he may try them too which will make life easier.
