So over the last few months I have been messing around trying to lose weight and getting nowhere - I am actually heavier than ever. As some of you may have seen from another thread I thought that trying something different might help so I went to my first slimming world class yesterday - unfortunately I was not impressed and I don't think it's for me. So I am using a brand new month to motivate me and spending today planning are more positive May and my meals this week. Anyone else out there also struggling but feeling positive about the new month?

Didn't weigh this morning as I stayed at my friend's house, went out last night and only went a little squewiff - had an interval ice cream and some pringles Blush but still only drank water and took muesli for my breakfast, then had an apple and some cashews on the drive home

StarHeartDiamond · 06/05/2017 15:44

Panda - I'm knee deep in under 10s children here so didn't think he might not be a young dc Blush It's great that he feels like giving them a try himself.

StarHeartDiamond · 06/05/2017 15:46

That's what I call a good balance Beyond! I am impressed at your planning ahead too.

Designerenvy · 06/05/2017 17:10

Had a few nibbles at the school , knew I would ! .... although the running around and clean up after may have burnt a few calories. Then a massive clean up at home before my mum arrives.
Seav, I think I'll gave a glass of wine tonight...it is the weekend after all !
Mercury, here's hoping May improves for u !
Star, well done to your dh, he's a keeper Wink.
Aw, Panda that was sweet of your ds, he's very thoughtful.
Agree Imogen, I think I'll only succeed if I allow myself the odd treat breakout, if I deprive myself too much I start to gorge !
ELLIE, Hope you enjoyed your lunch and catch up with your friends Smile

Ellieboolou27 · 06/05/2017 19:20

Sounds like we've all had a few challenges and temptations today!

My lunch was so calorific I do r even want to log it and that was just the alcohol Blush
Was worth it though, first time out with friends and no kids in almost 18 months! Plus point though is that I'm still full so won't be breeding anything more today did eat a weeks worth of food in one sitting mind

Ellieboolou27 · 06/05/2017 19:21

*needing not breeding Grin they'll be nine of that!

BeyondStrongAndStable · 06/05/2017 19:28

Nine breedings, eh? 😂

MissingPanda · 06/05/2017 20:47

Ellie 😂😂😂

My treat was a take-away. We have them at work weekly but as I don't do every Sat pm I'm classing it as an occasional treat. So far this week I've kept to what I said and that's not snacking between meals with the exception of fruit.

I'm feeling pretty good and like I can stick to it although I know it'll probably get harder as I get stricter.

Designerenvy · 06/05/2017 22:17

Panda, my ds has asd also ( he's 12), and also on the mild end of the spectrum, so I totally understand how much it means for your ds to be toughful of you, well done u for getting him there ! He sounds lovely .

ImogenR · 06/05/2017 22:42

Just finished a pizza. But no breeding.

ButtonLoon · 07/05/2017 08:20

Weigh in this morning - down 5.5 pounds, yikes! I know from bitter experience though that that is mostly water and the true slog is yet to come, but I'm pleased all the same. :)

Designerenvy · 07/05/2017 08:22

Well done button, water loss or not that's brill ! Downwards and onwards from now on !
I had some wine last night when my mum was down to stay ( knew i wld), starting fresh today.

StarHeartDiamond · 07/05/2017 08:56

That's great button!

If you can't have a glass of wine on a Saturday night then when can you designer Smile you've got to enjoy a few things along the way.

5lb off myself, had a few sweets and pretzels last night so wasn't sure I'd lose anything but did a lot of activity yesterday so it must have offset that. I've hopefully got a clear run of no temptation occasions on the calendar this week which makes sticking to a plan easier.

369thegoosedrankwine · 07/05/2017 09:04

Wow button that's great - congratulations.

Had s poor night last night. Resisted McDonalds at lunchtime but had 2 snack bars and a Chinese meal for dinner with 2 bottles of lager (we had guests). I didn't eat tons but it wasn't great.

Hoping it won't make too much difference to weigh in tomorrow...going to be strict today. We will see.

369thegoosedrankwine · 07/05/2017 09:05

Congratulations star too. Smile

BeyondStrongAndStable · 07/05/2017 09:20

Well done everyone who's weighed today!

All of yesterday managed to stay on track for me, now my running total is -6.2lbs!! :) :) :)

pinkieandperkie · 07/05/2017 09:38

I've been so bad the last few days and literally can't stop eating everything in sight.

I'm going to try really hard today to get things back under control.

Ellieboolou27 · 07/05/2017 10:00

Well done everyone it's motivated me to get back on track! Yesterday was dismal I worked out I drank over 1000 calories Shock

star no social plans for me either so no excuse - weigh in Tuesday but after last few days I'll settle for stating the same.
beyond that's almost half a stone Star

Everyone is doing so well! pinkie let's get back on track together, I'm craving junk all the time but need to stop and get my act together now, holiday in 9 weeks!

Ellieboolou27 · 07/05/2017 10:03

imogen I read your no breeding pizza and been craving 🍕 ever since Grin

Loubilou09 · 07/05/2017 10:04

Well done losers!!!

I have had a dreadful weekend so going to make a new 10 week commitment! I want to lose about another stone - 1.5 stones would be amazing!

I am not going to drink for 10 weeks as that's key for me. I am going to eat under 9,000 calories a week and mainly low carb/blood sugar type of eating. I am also going to try and burn 17,500 a week on my garmin

Loubilou09 · 07/05/2017 10:05

By burning the 17,500 - that includes my daily "maintenance" calories of 1750!! I am not going to burn an additional 17,500 a week I exercise!!! 😂😂

Ellieboolou27 · 07/05/2017 10:06

panda are you weighing yourself or cutting down first? I'm trying to use same principles as you with no snacking.

Ellieboolou27 · 07/05/2017 10:11

lou alcohol is a killer isn't it! I might join you in your booze free pledge

LapCatLicker · 07/05/2017 10:25

Hello all,
I haven't read the entire thread but from what I have it sounds like you're all working hard and doing well by doing it your own ways. Congratulations to those who have lost weight!
I'm at my very heaviest at 14.6 stone up from what I thought was overweight when I got married 5 years ago at 11.5 stone. When I met DH almost 10 years ago I was 10.5 stone. I would be happy to get down to a reasonable 11 to 12 stone but that still means almost 3 stone. (I have to write down those calculations to make it real for me) In my head I'm still lithe and athletic like I used to be in my teens, but I'm in my early forties I'm fat and have bad plantar fasciitis and morton's neuroma in my feet so exercise is impossible. Anyone else have trouble coming to terms with it?
I'm heavily addicted to sugar and with that comes a great love of wine and g&t. Anyone gone the no sugar, no alcohol route and how are you doing with it? I'm scared to quit but I'm also scared to be a disabled obese woman at the age of 50! I don't even know where to start so I thought I would lurk on your lovely thread for some inspiration if that's ok?

Loubilou09 · 07/05/2017 10:45

Ellie do join me - I have done quite a few long periods off the booze and it transforms losing weight for me! When I have a drink I just want to snack and I eat badly the next day even if it's a couple of small glasses of prossecco! Plus the calories are just not worth it!
