2 stone in 37 days

Right. I have been trying to loose weight for the last 2 - 3 years now. When I started trying I was 11.5 and now I am 13.9

In 37 days I am going away on holiday - activity holiday not relaxing - and I really, really need to be slimmer.

So this is my goal, no more gently does it because clearly that doesn't work. I am going to have to be brutal with myself and need you guys to be brutal with me as well to keep me on track.

So it starts tomorrow with scrambled eggs on 1 slice of toast for breakfast. I'll do a HIT workout, walk the dog twice and ride my horse. Not sure what I'll have to eat for the rest of the day.

Really need your encouragement with this! I'll check in every day and let you guys know how I am getting on.....(hollow laugh....)

Hmm. Well, I've finally weighed myself and I'm less than two pounds lighter than the heaviest weight I've previously weighed myself at. I could think that my efforts to reduce my calorie intake have been unsuccessful or I could think that I was much heavier than I feared. Neither is a welcome thought. I guess all I can do is keep trying and hope that I'm lighter next time I weigh myself.

It means I'm still two stone away from my ideal and will still be chubby on my target date of 31st May. I know it's my fault for eating too much over the last few years I just have to keep trying.

Me too lost. I feel the same. At least we're tackling it. I try to remember it might have gone up even further if I hadn't made an effort this week.

DH reminds me there are lots of people who would love to 'only' have two stone to lose. It's not so bad really.

I know I won't lose 2 stone by 31st May but I know I can lose 7lb which will make me feel less bloated and make my clothes a bit looser.

No further movement on the scales here so 3lb down after a week. Very happy with that. Going to keep weighing daily. It's taking the pressure off that the once a week weigh creates.

I know it's disheartening bit this needs to be a long term thing too otherwise we'll all be here in a year messing around with the same few pounds!

Lost, would it help to post menus and portion sizes (my downfall, a little chicken is healthy so a shot load must be fine).

I think I'm going to start posting either on here if no one minds, or on another thread, what I'm eating each day to kind of make myself accountable for my eating. I gave myself permission yesterday to have a more relaxed day so decided biscuits for lunch were fine ffs.

Right, off for a run this morning, I will be under 14 stone by Monday weigh in.

This is my take home message of the week!

At least we're tackling it. I try to remember it might have gone up even further if I hadn't made an effort this week.

And this is exactly the right attitude for me to embody!

In the past I would have thought 'What's the point?' And dived straight into a cake but I won't do that this time.

Yesterday I had one slice of salami, five mini eggs and one slice of cheese as separate snacks during the afternoon. I'm not sure I was really hungry at those times I just wanted to nibble on something. I need to resist the nibbling because it's undermining my efforts at meal times.

For tea I had a chicken breast sautéed with a red pepper, coated with a tomato and bacon flavour stir through sauce and served with a whole packet of asparagus. The sauce looked a bit oily, I don't know it's nutrition break down but there was only about a table spoon of it.

spaghetti I think I'll begin to weigh daily too. I agree about that once a week pressure and it will help me to stay focused every day.

glen I'm happy to see your food diary here each day.

OMG. Need to stay on track. Been out for the day with DCs and I'm knackered. I took a chicken salad for my lunch but I did steal some of DD's chips. Did nearly 20,000 steps though so hopefully I might get away with them.

I want a massive bowl of soup, three rounds of toast, cheese, wine and the remaining Lindt bunny. All on a tray in front of a film.

I'm actually having an M&S 'Balanced for you' microwave meal. Sad

Glad to help!!

I've been baking today and ate so much cake mix I'm surprised there's any left to put in the oven!! Made my 7 year old a lovely cake for her birthday though.

Also managed a run this morning so not a terrible day, bit not great either.

I had quite a lot to eat for lunch yesterday but no evening meal. I've just weighed myself and I'm a lb lighter than yesterday. I know weight fluctuates but it's still nice to see. Well done both of you.

Well 1/2lb on but not surprising really. A couple of 800 cal days will sort that out and some of its friends!

Well done lost :)

This thread rocks! I want too lose a lot more but it's so nice to read other people's experiences too. I'm on SW (you've gotta be ashamed when your GP gives you 12 weeks free because you're so big) and have lost 1st 3lb so far and just started running. I started a blog //www.tubbygirlrunning.co.uk to try and keep myself motivated but MN might be the answer, so much more chatty and fun!!

Can I join in? 12st 12lb this morning, about 2 stone over my target - if I could lose half that I'd feel much better in myself. I've put on about a stone in past year and I'm at risk of having to buy bigger trousers Blush.

Not sure how to do it, I tend to either have willpower (and can quickly lose a stone) or not (when it's impossible). At the moment I have not got the willpower. I know it's not really overweight and I am fortunate to have 'only' 2st to lose.

This thread did give me the motivation to actually get on the scales and see how bad it was so I guess that's a start.

I'm contemplating filling the fridge with M&S balanced for you ready meals or similar to make it a bit easier but I'm a bit inhibited about ready meals these days when I'm no longer living alone.

This thread rocks! I agree with you sparkle.

Fluffy willpower is a difficult resource for me to find too. I have tried to start weight loss so many times over the last few years and failed. It really is all about mindset for me. Filling the fridge with healthy ready meals could well be the way in for you. They will be calorie and portion controlled so you won't be tempted to add just a little bit extra to your plate. Try it for three days or a week to see how you get on.

I'm contemplating not taking money or cards out with me when I go to work, that'll prevent me binging at Costa or buying chocolate from the vending machine!

It could be worth it Fluffy! I'm lucky that where I work the only food and drink available is what I take with me. I work part time though so home is the most dangerous place for me. I have to avoid bringing the bad stuff into the house.

Good morning everyone

How was your weekend?

Totally refocused, I'm within spitting distance of being in the 13s so I'll be having a good push this week to get there and consolidate.

I'm having water and green tea in the morning, I've dropped my tea with cream (was cheating with it and having 3 - 4 cups each morning). I'll have a nice brew around 4 instead to try to knock the 4pm snack binge on the head.

DDs birthday this week so we had her party at the weekend and I actually didn't want cake. It just smells too sweet. I did steal a couple of cheese biscuits but only 2 of them and they are tiny so I can live with it.

Food plan today is

Little - omlette with cheese and big green salad
Snack - cup of tea
Tea - tuna with salad

Lots of water and mint tea.

Exercise today is day 3 week 1 couch to 5k and some walking and dancing with the little people.

Have a good one everyone.

Perhaps you don't react well to processed carbs? If I so much as look at a loaf of bread I put on a stone!

I'm about a lb down again today! I'm sure I'll see the scales bounce up and down a bit, it's never a straight line down but a general trend with bumps along the way.

I am going to try to avoid the nibbling between meals today, it's becoming a habit and I need to break it because a bite here and bite there will add up.

I am planning to have an omelette with asparagus and smoked salmon trimmings and some roast tomatoes on the side for dinner. If I'm doing okay I'll aim for a two egg omelette, but if I'm ravenous it will be three.

My dh has decided to lose weight now, a bit of mutual encouragement will be good.

Hello eezer. I'm sure that what you ate yesterday isn't directly responsible for your weight gain. It is frustrating and disheartening when the scales go in the wrong direction but try to remember the overall trend. Six slices of bread is quite a lot in one day, diet plans tend discourage eating a lot of bread. Try having some oatcakes instead of bread sometimes.

I didn't have a great day, good intentions went out the window by 9 am. Will try again tomorrow. Took cash to work and bought chocolate. Sad

Can I join you all?
My spare tyres are driving me mad, the one below where my waist used to be makes me look pregnant! I put on 2 stone in the last 3 years, and it's all on the middle and face. I am 5 ft 2 inch and really can't carry the extra weight. I think cheese and milk are my downfall, don't really have a sweet tooth, I just want to be able to fit into my clothes again!

Hi Carrie and eezer. Welcome :)

Tonight I did week 1 run 3 of couch to 10k. High calorie intake of 1600 Cal's today bit with the exercise I still have a 1000cal deficit so hopefully a good number tomorrow.

Good effort with the exercise glen. I'm still failing on that front.

This evening I have fought a battle against the remaining half packet of chocolate digestives and won.
