Hi ariston! Good to see you Smile work your way back. You've done it before so you can definitely do it again.

Phoebe yes you've got it. No snacks means no eating between meals but you can include those things as part of your meal if you want. Well, not the chocolate but the nuts and banana.

I've got 2 afternoon teas to go to this weekend! I think I will try and stick to the no seconds, it's too easy to just keep eating when the food is so mini. I am looking forward to a scone with cream and jam though. Yum.

Have a good weekend everyone.

beela · 30/06/2017 09:48

Well done cheddar!

PhoebeBee · 30/06/2017 10:09

Hi! Thanks for the welcome!

What about a skinny latte? Is that allowed?

Am sitting in soft play and I'd normally have one plus a muffin to get me through!

Would be happy with the latte though?!Blush

beela · 30/06/2017 10:11

I think that's ok.

PosiePootlePerkins · 30/06/2017 17:24

Hello Ariston Smile how are things? You're still posting so I know you're still trying!! Don't give up trying, beela is right, you know you can do this in your own time and your own way.
Welcome Phoebe sounds like you've got the basics sorted. Hot drinks are fine including skinny lattes. You're even allowed a teaspoon of sugar! Loads of info on the NoS website and there's also a book if you want more detail.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Welcome Phoebe!

And hello Ariston!
As I said, I've read the whole first thread and this one and followed your amazing progress. So what if you're having a bit of a 'phase', 'phase' your way back in. Maybe in stages if the thought of going full no-s-hog is too daunting? E.g. no S after x o'clock, or just one day to see how it goes or anything that would work for you. That's not strictly by the original rules – but everything is fair in love (for yourself) and war (against the bingeing), erm, within reason.

PosiePootlePerkins · 30/06/2017 20:55

Wise words Venella Smile

Morning all!

So my fist NoS day went ok until about 11.30pm when I had a Percy Pig biscuit! Should've just went to bed! Blush

Today is a S day, may I ask what people would typically eat at the weekends? Is it really anything?

twofloorsup · 01/07/2017 08:37

Phoebe I tend to pretty much stuck to No S at the weekend. The only reason being that after about 3 weeks I really went off sweet food and just didn't want it anymore. Having suffered from binge eating for the past 25 years I didn't want to give myself the green light to just eat all day (as I know I won't stop once I start).

However I'm going to a family wedding today where the timing means I may need to have 4 meals today or at least a snack.

You do whatever suits you really.
And I always think of what you do is an improvement on what you did then that's half the battle Smile

I really should read through before posting !

bowbear · 01/07/2017 10:34

Hi All

I hope everyone is having a good week. I've stayed pretty much on track and have been rewarded with a1lb loss so I'm thrilled with that as I'd stayed the same for the last month. Gives me a little more motivation to keep going.
I agree with you two about weekend, I now find I don't automatically allow myself all the extras as I think it may trigger bad habits. What I really love now though is that when I do have a treat I don't feel guilty which is a whole new feeling. Still 1.5/2 stones to go but nobody said this was a quick fix!!
I'm off to see Green Day today so hopefully I'll burn a few calories in the mosh pit!! (who am I kidding, way too old to be in the mosh pit, more likely to be just bobbing about at the back Grin
Have a lovely weekend everyone x

twofloorsup · 01/07/2017 11:07

Bowbear enjoy green day I'm a bit jealous Wink

I don't really know what a treat would involve now. It used to be stuffing myself silly on sugary junk food but now I enjoy my meals as they are usually carefully planned.
When I'm short on time I tend to stuff something in quickly and not really enjoy it.
I'm trying to be more inventive with my food so I don't end up turning into a jacket potato Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 01/07/2017 14:07

Phoebe the ultimate aim of S days is to have a treat or two that you have planned in and will really enjoy. However the reality for a lot of people is that it takes a long time to reach that stage. I certainly went a bit crazy for a month or two, but I needed to do that as a release valve. Eventually I got fed up of feeling out of control and introduced a no snacks mod which helped me to have more moderation at weekends. So I would say enjoy your S days and try not to worry too much in the early days and weeks. You'll work it out when you're ready!

bowbear I'm so jealous you're going to see Greenday! We couldnt get tickets ☹️

I find I'm just not interested in eating rubbish at the weekends anymore! Tonight's treat is a punnet of strawberries 😂.

AristonAndOn · 02/07/2017 08:14

I hope everyone is having a good S weekend. 💐
Im sheepishly checking in. If anyone doesn't know, I have been on this diet since beginning of January and it's made me much happier and in control. For the last 3 wks, I'm guessing the time as I've stuck my head in the sand, I'm back to binge eating. I know this diet is right for me and everyday I keep trying. Today I will try again. Silly me.
Great advice as always from Posie, I wish I could offer a bit more support myself. Two, I wish I could devour a punnet of strawberries, I don't enjoy fruit Blush However that isn't an excuse for me to stuff my face with crisps! I had a food delivery with lots of healthful food last night so I'm going to dig in to that.

twofloorsup · 02/07/2017 08:50

Hi Ariston nice to hear from you.
No advice really as I'm finding it more tricky now I'm going into month 7.

Just don't give up you've done so well to come this far , hopefully it's just a blip and you'll get back on track soon.

Binge eating is an utter bastard it consumes you like a drug Sad

I'm wondering if you were trying to restrict yourself too much ?
I used to listen to Jenn Hand a lot and she says that the binge restrict cycle is a bit like a pendulum ie the further you pull it one way by restricting your diet, the further it swings the other way to binge behaviour.
I hope that makes sense but if not maybe look her up on YouTube as she explains it perfectly and it made a lot of sense to me before I found No S.

AristonAndOn · 02/07/2017 09:21

Hi Two, thanks for the advice. I've never heard of Jenn Hand, but it certainly that is true, I have binge and restricted for years. I really have tried to be sensible on this diet, but I know so much about nutrition that I still mentally add up what's on plate so am restricting to a point. And yes this does feel like a drug that I feel powerless over when it gets to this point. :( I keep summoning up the mental strength to stop, but overeating zaps my energy and I end up reaching for more which makes the whole thing worse.
Thank you so much everyone for the support on this board. It really has been invaluable to me, even though things aren't going to plan at the moment. 💐

beela · 02/07/2017 09:26

Ariston and two, morning Smile

I started in January too and the last couple of weeks I have found quite hard. I have been falling back into old habits of snacking from the kids plates at teatime. I did have a light bulb moment yesterday though.... I don't think I'm eating enough at lunchtime, which means I'm hungry by 5 - and often don't have my meal until around 8.

Perhaps we've all hit a 6 month wall? Let's smash through it and carry on.

TrueLove83 · 02/07/2017 09:30

Hi I've probably joined late on in the game.

So I'm also doing a no sugar but also low carb diet.

Honestly I'm allowing myself the occasional day where I'll have something. BUT I think I need to stop that cos it literally sends my body into a sleep coma if I touch anything that's high in carbs or sugar!!

I don't want to wake up!

I also suffer from mild depression that is intreated and have an under active thyroid which is medicated but I feel awful still in the evenings I'm exhausted.

I'm also exercising 2-3 times a week and from next week I'm getting a personal trainer

MonsterQueen · 02/07/2017 09:35

Hello all, may I join please?

I will read through the threads and google No S diet.

I am 48 with young children so need to get my act together so I get to see my Grandchildren.

I am awaiting results from biopsies on a breast lump and am eating everything that isn't nailed down. Was doing WW but not able to stick at it at the moment.

Any tips greatly appreciated Smile

twofloorsup · 02/07/2017 09:52

Arisron it is very much a viscous circle isn't it.
Morning Beela I'm up for wall smashing Smile I find the same thing if I have an unsubstantial lunch which I quite often do as I get in from work ravenous so grab something quick.

Welcome True and Monster.
I would advise reading a few pages of the No S forum it's very helpful.
Also read back on this thread and the one before it you may get a picture of what journey we are all on.

twofloorsup · 02/07/2017 09:53

Darn autocorrect !!
Viscous circle not viscous ! Smile

bowbear · 02/07/2017 12:24

Morning all,

I've just about recovered from yesterday, Green Day were amazing and on the upside it was so expensive to eat and drink at the festival it was also a No S day!
Ariston - so pleased you are still here, it takes a long time to undo all our bad habits but bobbing in here each day is a great positive reminder that with support and encouragement we can all do this.

Hello True and Monster - lovely to have new people join. No S is a brilliant and really supportive board, more the merrier x
