Welcome to a brand new shiny thread to help us all onwards and downwards through March.

Here's a link to the last February thread

I also stupidly asked DH if he could tell I had lost weight. I knew I shouldn't ask I can't even tell myself! Yet it still upset me!

I'm finding it tough too. Am still running but even that is hard going at the moment. I've plateaued on the scales, which isn't surprising as I've been back on the choc. Argh.

QuimReaper · 15/03/2017 08:17

A tooth whitening strip is even better than gum because it's such a faff to take them out and a huge waste of money! But by the same token they are mega expensive...

Squiffy and Arsey can you remind me what approach you're taking?

koko I have thought for a while now that you might benefit from giving the 5:2 a whirl. I think you sound exactly like me - continuous restriction starts to drive you mad and into despair. I really do find that "not today" works a million times better for me than "NO" and with calorie counting it often is just "no". Also with the 5:2 you'd be likely to see good results in the first couple of weeks which will spur you on, and it takes that long to get used to it anyway.

Maybe just try a day of 800 calories and see how you go?

Also applies to Squiffy but I couldn't remember if you were calorie counting!

HairsprayBabe · 15/03/2017 08:25

Morning all,

That is a good tip BOOP for not snacking whilst cooking, I do it all the time and it needs to stop!

11.4 this morning, so almost re-lost the weekend weight, I really need to not just go mad this weekend, but I have a craft fair (where there will definitely be cake) a pop up restaurant thing that DP's sister is hosting on Saturday, and a meal out on Sunday... so I just think I will have to eat nothing the rest of the weekend, it will be a no booze weekend though so that is a bonus.

Going out for tea tonight before we go to our salsa class, going to Wagamamas, and I'll have the Chilli Tofu Salad (502 cals) plus we usually split an order of Bang Bang Cauliflower (480) and Edamame (280). So I might ditch the Cauliflower and let DP have squid for a change as I don't like it and won't be tempted to pick at it! Plus I hate cashew nuts so I will flick all of them out of the salad and adjust calories accordingly (9cals per nut). So in theory I should be closing the kitchen very very low today 600ish...

Stellar67 · 15/03/2017 08:33

Rereading and I think 5:2 might help me too. So long as I don't go bonkers on the 5.

Koko I also feel like just buying a cake today. I feel like I'm constantly failing at this and its bonkers! I'm a fully grown woman. Literally....

HairsprayBabe · 15/03/2017 08:39

Stellar work out your TDEE and BMR and try to keep to that on your 5 days, mine is approx 1700 but everyone is different, you can fill in calculators online to work it out.

Your BMR is the number of calories your body burns at rest (basically, in a coma).
Your TDEE is your BMR, plus all the calories you burn through work, play, exercise and even digesting food.

To burn fat, you need to eat about 15- 20% fewer calories than your TDEE to trigger immediate fat loss.

lastqueenofscotland · 15/03/2017 09:01

9 11 this morning so now just 1 up for the month. Won't have a golden day today but I shouldn't go mad. Going out for dinner so need to be sensible!

ArseyTussle · 15/03/2017 09:16

I'm doing 16:8 every day, which is working well for me. I'm running every second day.

What I'm finding very hard at the moment is to have willpower and not slip back into the habit of calling in to the corner shop for a bar of chocolate or biscuits. I do that when I'm not hungry, so it's not a question of needing to be 'filled up'. I just find sweet things very hard to resist.

I've noticed I'm not drinking as much water as I was either, so I'm going to ramp that back up.

QuimReaper · 15/03/2017 10:42

Arsey I misread that as "calling the corner shop for a bar of chocolate", I thought things must have got pretty intense with you if you had a personal hotline and delivery service from them! Grin

I've found that after a spell, although the temptation never actually subsides, resisting it does become a habit - again, for me, as long as there is light at the end of the tunnel. For me it isn't The Other 5, it's just the weekend, and as I'm sure I've said before, by the time the weekend rolls around that whatever-it-was usually doesn't seem so urgently tempting as it did on Tuesday. Sometimes it's as if knowing I can't have it is at least 90% of the reason I want it Confused

I think part of the problem I have is that on my Golden Days I tend to go for a wander, and I pass all sorts of exciting looking eateries, and fantasise about dropping in to sample their delights. But I hardly ever do that on the weekend, so the temptation is permanently frustrated.

But maybe if I did start going for a wander at weekends and stopping for treats I'd find it harder to resist doing the same on weekdays.

StopramblingQuim.

ArseyTussle · 15/03/2017 10:48

Ha! That would be marvellous! I did someone double park outside Boots the other day and honk his horn until someone came out to serve him. Shock Grin

On the bathroom scale this morning, I appear to be below 10st7lbs. This was from a starting weight of 11st4lbs.

Cant verify it if the boditrax machine is still not working at the gym but my bathroom scales have been pretty accurate as in when I appear to lose weight I actually have done.

lastqueenofscotland · 15/03/2017 12:02

Gum is a good idea not least cause it makes food taste awful. I also swig a Diet Coke but appreciate that that's not for everyone!

I think paper chase do specific diet diaries if you wanted a fancy one, this one is good because it is small so i can fit it in my tiny handbag, it came in a pack of three and I filled one up already, this is my second.

QuimReaper · 15/03/2017 14:45

Oh Hairspray I am drooling over the idea of those lists, I love anything like that! I have spreadsheets to log our meals Blush

You seem to eat like a sparrow though, do you just have one meal a day?

FreeNiki · 15/03/2017 14:55

KOKO I've noticed that you need to see results to keep at it.

It is demotivating if nothing changes. Try hairsprays notebook thing and really stick to it. When you notice results you think Grin and it motivates you to lose even more. You just need that one push to get you going.

HairsprayBabe · 15/03/2017 14:58

Admittedly the 13th was very very low, but I always aim for a super low Monday to offset the weekend.
I usually have full fat greek yog and berries or nuts for lunch but I have been super busy at work this week so accidentally skipped it yesterday, and I skipped lunch again today because I am contemplating more food at Wagamamas this evening... and I find if I don't eat then I am not hungry.

Plus I am currently mid 12Week BSD, once this round is over, April 22nd my cals will bounce back up to about 1200-1400.

So in conclusion yes, I eat like a bird Blush I will try to be a bit healthier for the rest of the week though, and I take a multivitamin if that makes any difference XD.

lastqueenofscotland · 15/03/2017 15:06

Hairspray I think I'd keel over. I need carbs and plenty of them!

Which is why I'll be stuck at 9 11/10 forever
