On the way to losing a stone with Codswallop: progress to date

JanZ · 28/06/2004 17:50

Here's anew thread for Coddy's recruits.

The old thread is here

For the record, I started out (May 19) at 11 stone 2 and am now 10 and a half stone A total loss of 9 pounds

Coddy's potential wrath has been inspirational! Plus of course the support of the rest of you (although the thread does go quiet at times).

mts - I know what you mean that "nothing tastes as good as slim feels" leaves me cold too. But the "lardy arse" one really works for me - just the word lardy sends shivers down my spine and makes me think of Johnny Vegas - funny guy but not who I want to resemble!!!

coddy - as of this morning I'm 10st2.5 and my bmi is 21.7 - how's that!!!

wobblyknicks · 14/07/2004 12:08

janz - never mind, forget it and keep going!!

Welshmum · 14/07/2004 12:13

10.8
So 2lbs off since my weekend eating frenzy/french holiday etc
Still trying hard....

JanZ · 14/07/2004 18:23

Just cherry tomatoes, radishes and a plain bagel for lunch. Had some fruit to snack on as well.

Tonight is "slob in front of the TV with a snack and a bottle of bubbly" night: we're having chicken nuggets and dips, but I'll do myslef some carrots and cucumbers as well, and hold back on the chicken (dh will be pleased). I'll also only have one glass of bubbly.

That reminds me - must go and have another glass of water!

stagnating somewhat at 9st 8
quite happy to be here actually as started off 15 lbs heavier...
complacency, am not eaating rubbish though, have not put any back on, just taking a break for a week or so from hefty dieting!

JanZ · 15/07/2004 09:00

Every day is a new day Mummytosteven - so just think about what you're eating today and forget about yesterday (and the weekend!).

Good luck!

Still 10 stone 7 this morning - despite alowing myself wine and some treats this week, so hopefully once I start again in earnest next week, I'll see some results.

thanks janz. last few days i've been eating a lot better so just need to keep at it!

JanZ · 16/07/2004 08:59

10 st 5 this morning

That's 3 lb down on the week and 11 pounds from the start 2 months ago. And that's on a week "off" from the diet!

OP posts:
suzywong · 16/07/2004 23:35

Ok I would like to weigh in at 11.6.
I want to loose 10 pounds in the next four weeks before I leave for Australia, can't have then thinking us Pommies are sedentary flabby creatures.

I've been interested in the 'no carbs after 6pm' style of weightloss, anyone had any success with that?

JanZ · 17/07/2004 11:55

Still 10st 8 Can't seem to get back onto the downward slope.

Anyway, went for a run yesterday, plus did 12 lengths of the swimming pool, while ds was in his Ducklinds class. So maybe the exercise will help. I'll try and get out for a run again tonight.

OP posts:
wobblyknicks · 17/07/2004 12:03

janz - try weighing yourself just once a week, then you see the weekly differences rather than the day to day ups and downs, and sometimes it seems like you're losing more.

JanZ · 17/07/2004 12:40

Wn - I had been trying to do that, but if you wnet by the weekly weigh-ins, I would go 10st 7, 10st 6 and 10st 8 for the last three weeks - NOT a good progression, especailly given the amount of restraint and will power I have used (and the LACK of alcohol and chocolates) that I have been using

So at the moment, I'm doing daily wiegh ins, in the hope of finally seeing that break through.

OP posts:
wobblyknicks · 17/07/2004 12:43

Fair enough then!!! Hope you see the breakthrough sometime soon.

JanZ · 17/07/2004 12:48

... but once I DO get my "breakthrough" I will try to go back to the weekly weigh in! (... but I'm not prmosing! )

OP posts:
JanZ · 17/07/2004 12:49

That'll be "promising". Must check my typing better!

OP posts:
wobblyknicks · 17/07/2004 12:54

Lol, whatever works for you best - if you're seeing much change at weekly ones then daily might be better for you, depends on the person - just have heard of lots of people who weigh themselves too much and get fed up but that obviously doesn't apply to you.

JanZ · 18/07/2004 11:51

I've decided to chill out this week and not try so hard. I have after all, now been on the diet for nearly 2 months.

So I'm not going to pig out, but I'm not going to beat myself up if I allow myself the odd treat.

OP posts:
wobblyknicks · 18/07/2004 11:54

Yep, you shouldn't be too hard on yourself. I found that I could never lose any serious weight by diet alone - I've always had to exercise to really shift the weight.

JanZ · 18/07/2004 12:34

Thanks wobblynicks. I didn't manage to get out last night for a run - got home from work too late - and tonight dh and I are going to see Fahrenheit 9/11. But I WILL go for a run tomorrow.

JanZ · 20/07/2004 11:45

Well, my REAL last post was on Friday at 8:59am, when I was all proud of myself becuase I was 10st 5!

Despite a Mars Bar on Friday lunch time (first for 2 months ), I stayed 10st 5 all weekend - but didn't weigh myself yesterday as we'd stayed over at Mum & Dad's following a "birthday meal" for dh, where plenty of ggood food and wine was partaken. Alos had wine for lunch on both Sunday and Monday, as it was a holiday weekend here in Glasgow.

I therefore wasn't surprised when I was back to 10st 8 this morning. But not upset - as I'd enjoyed myself, and hadn't TOTALLY let myself go!

Back to the diet now, with renewed motivation!

MaryKay · 21/07/2004 00:00

doing the ww diet but seem to be stuck in a rut i just want to eat all the time, i also don't have a great amount of time for exercise.
IDEAS PPPLLLLEEEAAAASSSSEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! I JUST CAN'T GET MOTIVATED

JanZ · 21/07/2004 08:51

Marykay - what's your weakness and we'll see if we can help?

Here's some suggestions:

Try saying/thinking "Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels" every time you want to snack - some say that works for them! .

Alternatively, try making up a big bowl of sugar free jelly and snacking on that - Wobblynicks swears by that.

"Lardy arse" is the NOT so nice motivating thought!

Codswallop makes up an enormous salad and has that for lunch. I do sometihng similar for my packed lunch and have cherry tomatoes and radishes to nibble on (fortunately I like them!).

I was back to 10 st 6 , so hopefully back on the downward curve following my week "off". I'd LIKE to break through 10 st before 14 August, when I'm away for a short holiday, seeing my berst friend for the first time for nearly a year, but I'll be happy with slow and steady progress.
