I was crap last night, in at 800cal then I went a bit crazy and had ryvita with Nutella and hazelnut butter (attempt to make the Nutella a bit healthier!), two Oreos and a whitworth berry and white chocolate shot. Think that was still under 1300 though so not a massive cock up. I reached my step goal and did some Pilates too so... :)

Down 0.8lb this morning. Yay! Nice to see some good losses here too, so yay for everyone!!

Today I had porridge with almond milk, almonds and blueberries (out of muesli Grin ) for breakfast, lunch will be avocado, cherry toms and scrambled egg, dinner is paneer and coconut curry

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 07/02/2017 12:41

Well done Binary, Cheddar, Usermuser, and Beyond on the losses! (Phew! What a list!)

User I bet that you look different. It's hard to see it yourself, because you see yourself everyday, but I bet it is noticable to the others around you. Have you tried measuring yourself? I find it helps my motivation to see that my measurements are changing, it helps you visualise the loss.

Usermuser · 07/02/2017 13:07

Thanks, everyone. No, I didn't measure myself or take photos. I wish I had now. Even clothes don't feel any different. I think one thing I've noticed is that sitting down, I can't feel my tummy all squidged up and uncomfortable anymore. Lovely mental image for everyone!

Well done, beyond. If you had two oreos and then manged to stop, you're a stronger woman than I am!

Do people mind me asking: what were your lightbulb moments that made you realise you needed to start seriously dieting?

HairsprayBabe · 07/02/2017 13:12

I went to the GUM clinic because I wanted to come off the copper coil and go on the pill. Nurse told me, in a very nice way mind you, that she wasn't authorised to prescribe the pill to obese women! Blush

I went on the hormonal coil instead just FYI and am v happy with it actually.

I knew I had to sort it out then.

lastqueenofscotland · 07/02/2017 13:21

User I saw a photo of me racing and while not overweight any weight goes straight to my stomach and I just looked hideous Sad

QuimReaper · 07/02/2017 13:34

Wow User almost a stone in three weeks, that's incredible progress! There's no way you look the same - and if nobody's remarked, that means you were carrying the weight really well in the first place.

Bloody amazing work Binary and Beyond too, and Cheddar I bet you look like you've got a coat hanger in your mouth busting that stone bracket!

Archie I am so sorry you had such a rotten day - I so know the feeling of despair when your hard work just doesn't seem to be paying off and it's such a damn struggle to keep your motivation up when it's so sloooooooow and boring, and getting an injury on top just seems horribly unfair. I remember being so pleased with myself when I managed to get up to about 6.5km on the treadmill, absolutely on top of the world with my fitness (not that it was paying off in the weight department) and then I got awful shin splints and just gave up completely - I don't think I set foot in the gym for months after that and eventually just cancelled my subscription Blush

So the moral of the story is, don't do that Grin A bit of fed-up eating is fine as long as you dust yourself off the next day, grit your teeth and continue the booooooring journey to Slenderistahood with us to jostle you along! Sounds like things are pretty relentless for you right now, but you know deep down that those biscuits will just be another thing to feel bad about Brew

That said, once your DH is back I think a nice meal out with wine and pudding would be well-earned. Will he be back for Valentine's Day?

QuimReaper · 07/02/2017 13:37

Ooooh Kiki meant to congratulate you too on your fitted coat! I have had similar experiences where the scale doesn't reward me but I feel like the mirror is, so I'm able to shrug it off a bit more easily. I'm so jealous of you being a pear, it must be fab to see the weight dropping off your upper body!

QuimReaper · 07/02/2017 13:38

Beyond the wagon drifted out of sight for me too. Always does after several days "off", I don't know why. I had wine and Maryland cookies Blush

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 07/02/2017 13:42

I'm not sure I had a lightbulb moment exactly. I just kept thinking 'must lose weight, must lose weight' but not doing anything between about June (pre-holiday weight about 10 stone 3) and October, when I stepped on the scales and discovered I was 11 stone 3 Blush. And the top limit of my healthy BMI is 9 stone 11, which I haven't been since 2013 just before I got pg for the third time. So I spent Oct-Dec doing the No S Diet and lost absolutely nothing. Ate like a pig for most of December, put on another 5lbs and found this thread in early Jan.

Oh, and I got someone to video me at trampoline last week and I look horrendously fat and ungraceful. I feel graceful in my head!

ArseyTussle · 07/02/2017 14:14

I didn't have a lightbulb moment as such, having been unhappy with my weight for my whole life. I just decided to take advantage of being unemployed (ish) at the moment, as I knew I wouldn't be strong enough to lose weight properly whilst in that 'eating biscuits at the desk' environment.

I'm gradually ramping up the work, but I'm hoping the 16:8 and running habits are now firmly entrenched and will stand me in good stead as I get more deskbound.

I'm also mid 40s with a young child and started to become frightened of obesity related illness.

Somo · 07/02/2017 14:27

Hi ladies,

Can I join you? My weight has been creeping up year on year and I have realised that I am not managing to control it on my own and was hoping you might be able to support me! I want to shed 1 to 1.5 stone. I'm in my 40s and my oldest child is nearly a teenager (help!). I know I am a week late into the challenge, but will do my best to shift 7 pounds by the end of the month!

Nice to meet you!
Somo

Naughtysausage · 07/02/2017 15:05

Hello Somo!

My light bulb moment was when I realised I actually looked like a bloody sausage. I used to have a lovely waist and now there's no dips or nice curves. I'm entirely podgily cylindrical. (I also look like a raw sausage. February is not kind to anyone.)

Congrats to everyone's losses! And kind encouragement to everyone who is having a rubbish day / week.

BeyondUnderthinking · 07/02/2017 15:27

Grin I'm a raw podgy sausage too!!

Naughtysausage · 07/02/2017 16:01

A fellow raw sausage! So nice that this thread lets us link up for support.
Heh heh heh

TVHubbyClaire · 07/02/2017 16:19

I can certainly relate to all of you who are not seeing big results on scales...Sad
I seem to have been somewhere between 13st and 13st 2 for about 3 weeks now and I keep thinking Im going to be in the 12st range when I get on scales.

I am , however sure my clothes feel a bit different and I can almost get into a hole in my belt which I was never even close to for the last 18monthsSmile

Did badminton, press ups and some ab exercises at lunchtime having not eaten since last night and probably unsurprisingly my soup, fruit and yogurt wasnt enough....scoffed a bag of M&S popcorn so an extra 123 calories this afternoon, fighting the urge to open a second one...

ponygirlcurtis · 07/02/2017 16:20

Welcome Somo - glad you are joining us. I am similarly aged with a DS going to secondary after summer. Yikes...

I don't think I had a lightbulb moment as such. I have always struggled with my weight, always felt fat, and spent my adult life losing then putting it back on (the last twice I lost loads I then got pregnant before I could enjoy slimdom...). At least that won't happen this time!

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 07/02/2017 16:34

I was always fairly slim, but I gained about 18lbs in about 2 years after I started a new job with long hours and lots of stress. It doesn't sound like a lot, but I am only 5 foot 1 2, so it looks pretty dramatic. I was always aware that I needed to lose the weight again, so this summer I started the 5:2 diet in an attempt to shift it, but as I was still shovelling whatever crap I could get my hands on into my mouth on my non-fast days, I didn't actually lose any weight. Then I found this thread and it was a much-needed push in the right direction!

BitOutOfPractice · 07/02/2017 17:16

Welcome somo

I didn't have a lightbulb moment as such, just something clicked in my head and I was ready

KikisDeliveryService · 07/02/2017 17:37

Thanks quim. I'm sure every shape has it's advantages and disadvantages. I try to be grateful for what I've got but I would like to have thighs that don't rub this summer (fat thighs and small hips is a tricky combo!- it was glorious for a couple of years of slimness but I stuffed it up last year.

My lightbulb moment was some photos. I was really shocked, I honestly thought I was all cute boho chic but really I was just all rolls and wobble and strained layers of clothing. I bought a set of scales, was horrified to be 2.5 stone heavier than I thought and in the BMI obese category.

TVHubbyClaire · 07/02/2017 17:44

Stepping away and thankful for the "friendly" support from BOOP,

now to try and have small portions this evening and hopefully my Wednesday weigh in will be positive

Somo · 07/02/2017 18:20

Thanks for the welcome! I don't think I've had a lightbulb moment either, but I think I really need to do something before the weight does become an issue. I'm also 5'2" and am carrying too much weight. I am realising that I can't do it alone, so am very pleased to have found your thread!

lastqueenofscotland · 07/02/2017 18:26

Welcome Somo Smile

I had some galaxy caramel today but in my defence I really needed something I could chew For my sanity.

I'm a sausage too! My apple shape means I never have much waist but I did used to have some shape. It's slowly emerging again (with the help of Spanx)...

Claire sounds like you've had a bloody good day altogether! I think the popcorn doesn't sound like a fail really, it's good to have low-cal snacks to hand, because as much as we want to lose weight, being ravenously hungry is miserable and just isn't sustainable. I've probably banged on about it before but I recommend hard boiled eggs, miso soup and Babybels for low-calorie surprisingly-satisfying snacks, I'm sure others have some secret weapons too. The popcorn is great for something to nibble on but I can't say I've ever felt full or satisfied after eating some!
