Yay - congratulations ForcesSweetheart, and CheesyFeet - WWB, don't do that 'Pig of the Week' thing.

Glad something's happening about your DD's waterworks, WWB - I was thinking about her the other day and wondering how it was going. Shame about the timing of the appointment, though.

I've started reading the William Leith book - O M G - it really does mirror how I feel, in so many ways. I started it while DD was at her swimming lesson yesterday, and in that half an hour I read maybe 40 pages, and had thought at least once a page 'OMG, must tell the BigMoFos about that quote' 'And that one', etc - too many quotes to quote, so you'll all just have to read the book yourselves.

WigWamBam · 23/02/2007 11:37

Sorry, I didn't mean to make anyone angry. Just poking a bit of fun at myself really but it was probably a misjudgement. Sorry

Not sure what to expect at dd's appointment, she's seeing a paediatric nephrologist so at least we've bypassed the general paediatrician and are going straight for the waterworks lady - but will probably still have to go back another time for any tests that she recommends. And it's at least at the Children's Hospital rather than our local ... bit of a pain to get to as it's in the city and I don't drive, but much better geared up towards children's treatment.

JackieNo · 23/02/2007 11:39

Oi - don't apologise, WWB - I just don't like you beating yourself up like that, even if you're doing it in a jokey way - you are categorically not a pig of any kind, so cut yourself some slack, woman.

.

(and if that doesn't work, I'll have to send you a hug, so just buck up your ideas)

WigWamBam · 23/02/2007 11:44

Sorry

Could do with that hug, was already a bit tearful this morning and the bloody cat has just shit all over the study floor

Avert your eyes as I swear; I know there are some sensitive souls around ...

BOLLOCKING BOLLOCKY ARSING BOLLOCKS

OP posts:
JackieNo · 23/02/2007 11:50

OOh, lots of swearing. Have a big (((hug))) - you poor thing.

Blimmin cats. Mind you, with DS potty training, I'm in daily contact with excrement more than I'd like atm. He's too diddy to use the toilet, even with a seat thingy, so he's still using the potty. But doing it very well. Would you like me to send you some of our un-needed (what's the actual word?) pullups for your cat?

CheesyFeet · 23/02/2007 12:37

Oh WWB sorry you are feeling rotten this morning. Good to hear that there's something positive happening for your dd though, and that you're going to the right specialist at the right hospital. Crap timing though. Maybe you and dd could go for a massive slice of cake somewhere afterwards? You're allowed, ti's your birthday!

They do a weekly weigh in at dh's work where they don't award a prize for the best loss but whoever puts on the most gets a piggy of the week poster that they have to display on their desk for the week (mostly blokes unsurprisingly). Seems to be working for dh though - he's lost 1.5 stone.

Thanks for my crown - I love the pink fluff and there are matching earrings and everything

WigWamBam · 23/02/2007 14:12

Ho hum ... have just taken a call from the Children's Hospital to say that someone has mucked up the appointments and the consultant is on call that day so looks like I get my birthday back ... shame we now have to wait another three weeks for the new appointment.

Does anyone have a bottle of gin and a large chocolate cake I could borrow? I feel the need for a large dose of both!

Is extraneous the word you were looking for, Jackie? Never mind pull-ups, the cat is looking likely to end up with her tail chopped off if she pulls that stunt again. Bloody great dollops of poo the consistency of yoghurt all over the carpet ... and then she'd trodden it into the hall carpet and onto the kitchen floor as well.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 23/02/2007 14:15

Oh bother, but at least you get to have your birthday back. I think you could have a case for starting it early, with the gin and cake - go for it. Do Starbucks do a Gin Latte, or a MoccaGino, I wonder....

WigWamBam · 23/02/2007 16:32

Mocchagino ... groan!

Gin latte - now, there's an idea ... Starbucks would make an absolute killing

OP posts:
ForcesSweetheart · 23/02/2007 17:46

my mumsnet buddy karenj1980 works for Starbucks, I'll put the idea to her!

suejonez · 23/02/2007 19:43

Hello - I had weighed but forgot to send it in before I went into work (forgot I was working!) - lost 2lb so happy with that. Will post proper weight next week.

WWB - don't know what your DD's waterworks problems are but I am an expert, having had then all my childhood. I had renal reflux and persistent UTI's and was on long term anitbiotics for 2 years from age 7, all of which resulted in permanent renal scarring on one kidney. Sounds scary doesn't it - but other than lots of checkups (from 7yyrs to 16 yrs with decreasing regularity - eventually only once every 6 months) and some mildly unpleasant procedures, it really wasn't so bad and (touch wood) has had no lasting effect.

Forces - as Jackie mentioned my DS was adopted thats why he changeds language, and yes he was tiny - 2lbs but I didn't find it at all scary at the time as I was on a management away-day in Northamptonshire at the time. What a bizarre thought!

suejonez · 23/02/2007 19:46

WWB is that the famous Chidlrens Hospital in Alderhay? In which case she's certainly going to one of the best. I went to a rubbish doctor to start with - part of the reason for my permanently scarred kidney is stupid GP who sent me away with useless bloody prescriptions for months...

ForcesSweetheart · 23/02/2007 21:35

Sue have been having a look at your blog site. Your DS is absolutely gorgeous! Those big eyes are gonna break some hearts, not least his mummy's I'm sure.

I had already had my calorie allowance for the day by 8pm, but have just blown it by having two slices of toast & jam and a cup of hot chocolate. Been feeling really ropey last 2 days (and your cat poo description has really helped WWB, thanks lol), think it's probably to do with going back on all my pills at once. My body's got used to being without them all so I reckon it's just gonna take a few days to adjust.

Sorry to hear about your DDs hospital appt problems, but as you say, at least your birthday is freed up now.

Cheesy, that's really unusual what they do at your DHs work isn't it. My DH has piled on the pounds recently due to an injury keeping him from running as much as he used to (my rich cooking no doubt) and at his recent annual review the quartermaster even said to him "no one wants to promote someone who's overweight". It was a real blow to him as he's been working hard for a promotion for years now. He's started going to the gym every lunchtime now, and has lost half a stone in the last month or so.

karenj1980 · 23/02/2007 22:36

Starbucks Latte now there's an idea - just give a wink when you come in and I'll make your Gin Latte for you ha ha

x

most stores have the nutrional values for the drinks but if anyone really really wants the calorie info for their favourite drink, let me know and I will post.

Night night all.

agalch · 24/02/2007 09:49

Morning

Was out at a Pampered Chef thingy last night. The food demonstration she did was a Waffle Berry Pudding and it was bloody lovely. Also had 5 glasses of wine and several bits of quiche and nuts and chips and dips.

I figured i have been good for ages and i deserved it.Didn't i?Please say yes everyone

But back to my healthy porridge this morning. Also did my first session of my Davina dvd so that will cancel out my wine and eats last night(agalch says hopefully)

Anyone here tried Curves gym?

|Have a good day!!

JackieNo · 24/02/2007 11:16

Morning, agalch. I think you're absolutely right - you've earned a bit of a treat. Glad you had a good time. And good on you for doing the exercise thing, too.

I've never been to a Curves gym - no idea, sorry.

suejonez · 24/02/2007 19:09

Nothing wrong with treating yourself occasionally. It would be very boring if we all stuck to an exact calorie allowance every day for the rest of our lives

ForcesSweetheart · 25/02/2007 13:13

Agree theres definitely nothing wrong with the odd treat.

I had several drinks, some deep fried mozzarella sticks, pizza, then chocolate & coffee ice cream last night. Not gonna worry about it, coz it's the kinda thing I woulda been having every night before the diet, so having it just once in a week shouldn't do too much harm.

suejonez · 25/02/2007 16:09

not sure that the tube of mini eggs I just polished off counts as the Odd treat though (n top of the sausage sandwich I had for breakfast .

Mmmm. Mini eggs.

JackieNo · 26/02/2007 09:40

Happy birthday, WigWamBam - hope you have a lovely, relaxing day.
