oh Happy Birthday WWB
hope you have a nice day

(and yes, look, I am still here. And it was 32 degrees today or something. I feel fabulous)

JackieNo · 26/02/2007 09:49

MrsJC - why do I not really believe you when you say you feel fabulous? Sending some labour vibes your way.

CheesyFeet · 26/02/2007 09:50

Have a good birthday WWB

Who mentioned Mini Eggs

CheesyFeet · 26/02/2007 09:51

labour vibes coming your way Mrs JC

WigWamBam · 26/02/2007 10:35

Thank you! And thank you for the card, Jackie

Oh, MrsJC ... I really feel for you. Loads of labour-inducing vibes coming your way from me, too.

Happy Birthday WWB

Sorry twas I that introduced the mini eggs

Have a free few hours as my mum has D. First time she's had him when I haven't had work to do - very odd. What did I do with my time before? I just feel like putting the washing on and tidying up! But I'm sure I can find something better to do with my few precious hours - like read!

CheesyFeet · 26/02/2007 16:27

I'm the same Sue. I get very little time to myself and when I do I should have a soak in the bath, read a book etc etc but invariably do housework.

Just as long as you stay away from the Mini Eggs you'll be fine

suejonez · 26/02/2007 16:45

Well have listed a dolls house on Ebay (decided that DS will not be interested in it) and sorted out some stuff for the dump - my how time flies when you;re having fun!

JackieNo · 26/02/2007 17:53

Your life is as glamorous as mine sue - I came home from work and did loads of vacuuming and dusting (and a bit of MNing too, of course). Did manage to have some nuts and dried fruit, even though the half a jar of Nutella was calling to me.

suejonez · 26/02/2007 19:03

my mum thought I would sit down with a book (so did I) but somewhere along the line I seem to have lost the "sitting around doing nothing" gene that I thought I was born with! I hope it seeps back eventually!

I do sit down and do nothing of course but generally only in the evening when I don;t have the energy for anything else!

JackieNo · 26/02/2007 19:08

It will, I'm sure. DD suggested I ought to give up 'going on Mumsnet and reading' for Lent, because 'that's all you do'. I do do other stuff, honest...

Fauve · 26/02/2007 21:16

Oh, happy birthday, WWB! Glad I came on here in time for it! Any nice pressies from your MIL?

Anyone else had a tough half-term? Mine go back to school tomorrow, at last. Have had constant whingeing re "I'm bored" even though I've been running round like a cat with its tail on fire to keep them entertained. Honestly. And I can feel my clothes being tighter because the diet's gone to pot and visits to the gym have been nil. They wouldn't even come swimming with me, grrrrr. (There are extenuating circumstances for them, I suppose - ds finally had his biopsy to check for possible coeliac disease (gluten intolerance) - and that partly accounted for his disgruntlemnt and my scattiness. We find out the results tomorrow.) Sorry for rant - but I have to get myself back together tomorrow...

littlemisssensible · 26/02/2007 21:46

Happy birthday WWB! hope you've had a good one.

Well done FS and Cheesyfeet you both deserve those crowns!

Sorry for my absence but I've been manically finishing a tudor costume for dd's 'tudor sleepover'. The only problem with her going to a private school (apart from the fee,s eeeeek!) is that they do seem to love lumbering us parents with lots of work! Of course its not helped by having a dd who insists she doesn't want to be a peasent or a rich lady, she wants to be Prince Edward with a gold embroidered jacket and puffy shorts and a fur lined coat with feathers on her hat! But the look of joy on her face when she saw my frankly very amateur effort was worth all the late nights and swearing I've been doing!

Now I've just got to print off her arctic project while she's away ready for her to hand in on Friday ....along with the one on Eddison which her teacher gave the class just before half term 'just for fun'! Thanx Miss! Like I don't have enough to do without trying to cajolle a bored dd into reading up on 'rude words'Eddison!

Sorry guys, rant over! Still I've now no panics to deal with so should actually be able to read/post on mn a bit more!

littlemisssensible · 26/02/2007 21:52

Hi Fauve,

School holidays can drag can't they! I had the usual problems juggling work with holiday care and quality time with dd! (Not helped by afore mentioned projects/costumes!)

But we did all go away for a long weekend together which was good. We popped up to Leicester to see my eldest and the gorgeous grand daughters! Dd loves seeing her big brother although she isn't so sure about being an aunty! And we managed to see her big sister briefly too which made her even happier!

I was over the moon to play grandma for a bit too, although the little one is getting a bit hefty even though she's only 4 months!

Fauve · 26/02/2007 22:22

Blimey, LMS, that's all very impressive! Do you take commissions for Tudor costumes?

WigWamBam · 26/02/2007 22:36

No present from my MIL, Fauve. Which is marginally better than getting one, quite frankly

Just a bog-standard old day really, dh at work, dd at school. I'm cancelling birthdays from now on, all they do is add another number to the horrendously large total that is now my age.

Tudor costumes ... that's impressive Am having enough trouble with a ladybird for Book Week, and all I've got to do is stitch some felt circles to a long t-shirt!

ForcesSweetheart · 27/02/2007 08:42

Ohh sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday on the day WWB! Happy Belated Birthday!

Tudor Costumes? I wouldn't even know where to start! Oh yeh, I would, I'd come on mumsnet and offer to pay obscene amounts of money to anyone who could make me a tudor costume!

Hope DS's test results are what you're hoping for today Fauve.

DD's been very poorly with a cold/chest infection which has been depriving me of sleep for a few days now. Yesterday it took its toll on me. I was halfway thru breakfast when I suddenly felt nauseous and lost it. Spent the whole day on the sofa feeling sorry for myself and allowing DD to watch far more telly than I normally would. DH even came home at lunchtime to let me try and grab a half hour of sleep. Soon as he got home from work at 5ish I was in bed and was out of it til 7.30 this morning - he slept on the sofa with the baby monitor so I wouldn't be disturbed! Hopefully not eating much yesterday will make up for my pigging out all weekend. Back on track today.

littlemisssensible · 27/02/2007 09:03

Hope you're feeling better FS!

I cancelled birthdays after the big 4 0 and in fact this year I'll be 34 as I'm now going backwareds Should be interesting to see peoples expressions when I start telling them I'm 20 or even 10!!!!

As to Tudor costumes, my advise to eveyone is.....DON'T DO IT! I love sewing so thought it'd be a nice relaxing thing to make for my dd...How wrong can you be! I forgot to vector in the stress of deadline factor! I should have done what many of the other mums did and look on ebay! Apparently there are a lot of children's historical costumes available! Duh!!!! I NEVER think to look on ebay!

JackieNo · 27/02/2007 09:57

Littlemisssensible - respect - my sewing skills are zero, possibly less than zero, so I wouldn't know where to start (though I do now).

ForcesSweetheart, you poor thing - take it easy, hope you feel better soon.

CheesyFeet · 27/02/2007 10:06

FS - hope you are feeling better soon. I don't know anyone who hasn't been ill this winter, and it seems to be a particularly nasty bug this year.

LMS - glad it isn't just me that takes on mad projects like that - last halloween dd had to go to nursery in fancy dress and instead of going to Asda and buying a witch outfit like all the other parents I made a ghost outfit. Not just a sheet over the head, oh no, there was lots of traily viole bits and a separate hat. Madness.

I'm fairly optimistic about my weight loss this week, Rosemary Conley weigh in tonight.

CheesyFeet · 27/02/2007 10:09

voile

(she did look cute though )

suejonez · 27/02/2007 10:11

I haven't been ill this winter but then I spent most of the winter in Kazakh Siberia which was cold enough to freeze the arse off any germs.

CheesyFeet · 27/02/2007 11:02

Hmm, Sue, I think going to Khazakstan to adopt a (gorgeous) ds is a somewhat extreme way to avoid a cold

suejonez · 27/02/2007 11:11

Well it worked for me.

Lemsip is cheaper and available at your local chemist however.

PS - have you tried Bionsen spray? Just discovered it - marvellous stuff.
