Age:45
Starting weight: 19st 10lbs on 01/01/17
Goal: 9st 10lbs
Plan: low carb, high fat

Well, it's the biggest I've ever been. Feel horrid, but determined to make this the last year of being a fat person. I''m going to diet the shit out of this mess I'm in! I've see threads to lose 100lbs, but not 140. If anyone else is in the same scary boat and fancies friendly, non-judgmental journey sharing, please say hello and share away.

Hi everyone, I'd really like to join you all if you don't mind.

I started trying to lose weight around a year ago but have got a bit stuck recently. I'm being a bridesmaid in less than 10 weeks and I really need to have a last push to get rid of at least another dress size.

I've been following slimming works which really works for me when I actually follow the plan! I've been trying to increase my activity and have started doing couch to 10k over the last 2 weeks. I also finally gave in and bought a dog to try and get a bit more active. Best decision ever and she is gorgeous and I'm now walking her twice a day for around 20 minutes each time.

I'm an emotional eater and despite understanding my behaviour I can't seem to stop myself. I'm going to try and increase my water intake and be more organised with meal planning because this really works for me. I also need to try and do something else instead of eat when the cravings start so I'm thinking of maybe painting my nails, having a bath or going for a run. I've enjoyed reading through all of this thread and I'm hoping that you'll all help me stay on track.

Age: 37
Starting weight: 17st 9lbs (BMI 39.8 -very obese)
Current weight: 15st 10lbs (BMI 35.5 - obese)
Target weight 10 st
Interim target: 15st

10stonestolose · 22/02/2017 14:57

Fairfax...it's so hard when plan go tits up and there are no good diet alternatives about, isn't it. A couple of days won't make much difference in the grand scheme of things, just get back to it and you'll be fine.

Duchess...welcome back and bless you Flowers. So many of the things you've been through resonate with me. You're doing the right thing to let those things spur you on rather than wallowing. 10 months is loads of time, just picture yourself in a beautiful Christmas frock 5+ stones lighter than you are today. That would only be half a stone a month, so totally realistic. You can do it...we can do it!

Pinot...4lbs is another fantastic loss, well done you! You'll soon be in the 15s, what a result that will be after so long. You'll be feeling a million dollars.

Hi teampug, of course, you're very welcome!

Well done on the weight loss so far, you're doing really well. I'd love to hear how the couch to 10k is going. 10lbs in 10 weeks is really steady and achievable and the bridesmaid dress is a great interim goal.

Checking in for a mid week catch up. Thank you for everyone's kind comments- have had a bit of a spring in my step this week!

Welcome back CrazyDuchess you should never feel the need to hang your head in shame, hold it high and think I'm going to kick ass! Grin Totally understand the holiday thing, last time we were abroad I felt really self conscious and it stopped me enjoying some things and I felt like I missed out. Not again though.

Fairfax Some days just seem to conspire against us- fingers crossed today will be better. You will do it!

Orlanda At least you know where you are going wrong, acknowledgement is always the first step in putting something right. This week was a little battle, but there is a whole war to be won.

10Stones to second Orlanda you are inspiring, congrats on goal 3 achievement, won't be long before they are all ticked off!

Well done resisting the little fuckers Holy I would formally have been like the cookie monster in those! Be strong and you will pull your little blip back in no time.

Welcome dble8 it is good to have people who truly understand. Many in RL don't & struggle to get the complex emotion involved in weight loss, especially when there is a larger amount of weight to tackle.

Pinot 4lbs -Fantastic loss well done, at this rate the 15 mark won't be far off!

This is a bit of fun- I have lost the weight of 700 sushi's & If I was an Ice cube I could swim in a 1550Ltr Mojito! skulks off to check the calories in white rum

Keep positive everyone.

Lotsawobblybits · 22/02/2017 15:42

10stonestolose · 22/02/2017 17:03

Haha...I've lost 4114 teabags and I now weigh the same as 1099 blueberry muffins Grin

I've lost 820 tennis balls going by today's weight!
And weigh 149 beautiful court shoes Grin

10stonestolose · 23/02/2017 22:29

820 tennis balls is a seriously impressive loss Narcs!

Can you believe I ended up cooking an impromptu dinner for rellies tonight and opened a bottle of prosecco, drinking almost half of it?! I've also been invited out for drinks tom night now. What was I saying about having absolutely nothing on for at least a week that would involve alcohol? The good news is that I've been super on plan with my food and ate a smaller portion than usual tonight (hosting stresses me out a bit, so I tend to eat less because I'm running about like a headless chicken!). Nearly the weekend, how's everyone doing?

OP posts:
OhHolyFuck · 24/02/2017 07:47

I've been good this week in that I've not ate any crap or drank any booze but I don't think I've had enough veg really
Was having some ME effects on Wednesday too so my pt training wasn't very intense so don't think I burnt many calories there
Aim to up the veg this weekend and hopefully, depending on how I feel, do a little bit on my exercise bike

Fantastic losses going on, nice to know how many tennis balls lighter we all are! Wonder how many it'd be combined?!

Crack on everybody, good luck through the weekend

MalmseyWhine · 24/02/2017 09:00

Morning! Hope everyone is keeping well. Happy to say that I've dropped 3lbs this week which makes 7lbs in 3 weeks ☺. Next week should hopefully see me drop into the next stone down.

5:2 is getting easier. I've started to identify my weak points and am trying to have methods in place to cope with those. 3pm is a dangerous time for me so I have bought some crispbreads to have with cheese spread and cucumber on fasting days, which is just enough to get me through to my main meal. Had a delicious, satisfying 400 calorie dinner on Monday and it made such a difference. I wasn't at all tempted to snack the following day to compensate for a disappointing meal.

I do need to increase my activity levels though Sad. My step count is really poor. Unfortunately I drive to work and am desk bound most of the day so have to make a concerted effort to go for a walk when I get home, which I don't do. It's just sheer laziness on my part really Blush. Something to work on.

10stonestolose · 24/02/2017 10:16

Holy...good on you for sticking on plan and at the PT. I think we must be a whole Wimbledon of tennis balls combined mustn't we?!

Malmsey...congrats on the 3lbs off. Sounds like you're really getting to grips with the 5:2. I also need to up the exercise, but something very strange happened this morning....

I ACTUALLY RAN, YES RAN!!!

I'd just done the school drop off and was taking doggle for his usual walk and suddenly I just felt really energised and broke into a run. I thought I'd just run until the end of that street, but then I crossed the road and carried on. I'm guessing I only ran for about 15mins, then I did a mixture of run/walk on the way back. So probably only 20/25 minutes of running altogether, but this 17st 10lb woman ran. It's a miracle I tell you, a miracle! Shock

OP posts:
Lotsawobblybits · 24/02/2017 17:13

Whoop Whoop 10stones on the running! Way to go Grin

Congrats Malmsey on the loss, having a plan always helps.

Holy keep at it, even keeping on plan is a good going.

820 tennis balls, maybe this should be a new universal unit of measurement Grin well done Narcs.

Fingers crossed for a fantastic & positive weekend for everyone, lets all smash this- one pesky pound at a time!!

FairfaxAikman · 25/02/2017 08:32

Had a horrendously emotional week so far

Monday was dealing with the aftermath of a toddler drowning in a river and when I finally got near to going home I found I was locked in a 24 hour car park an hour from home and the council and police couldn't or wouldn't help. This meant I didn't eat or drink between 9am and 10.30pm.
Then my work friend got taken to hospital with heart problems and may need a pacemaker at the age of 37 and my American cousins 14-year-old step daughter died of an asthma attack.
Despite some awful comfort eating I've lost four and a half stone.
This means I've hit my stone marker and my 5% marker in the same week.

10stonestolose · 25/02/2017 11:22

Fairfax Flowers what an horrendously stressful time you've had. Hope you have someone to look after you and give you plenty of tlc this weekend. Well done on the weight loss, despite everything.

OP posts:
NarcsBegone · 25/02/2017 11:51

Fairfax what an awful time for you. I'm so sorry you have all this going on. Be kind to yourself. You have done so well with the weight.

FairfaxAikman · 25/02/2017 12:11

Sorry that should be 4.5 lbs

OhHolyFuck · 25/02/2017 14:38

Fairfax I'm sorry, that sounds like the most horrendously stressful, shittiest week Flowers
Well done on even giving headspace to this after a week like that, 4.5lb is amazing

Lotsawobblybits · 25/02/2017 17:35

Fairfax Flowers Sorry to hear you have had such a rubbish week, well done on the loss. Look after yourself.

OhHolyFuck · 25/02/2017 18:13

I made cauliflower pizza for dinner, if anyone's looking for a review, I errr....wouldn't make them again it were shit

Still, that's Saturday nearly done now

memyselfandaye · 25/02/2017 19:05

I'm waiting until Monday to step on the scales, well I was, I promised myself I would only do it once a week, but I stepped on them yesterday and I was 3lbs down, but it does'nt count cos its not Monday!

I've cut down the coke and other fizzy drinks to one a day rather than 3 or 4, and drinking lots of water.

I've also been having a huge salad of rocket, spring onions, tomato's, 4 hot new potatoes, 25g of toasted crushed cashews, cucumber with hellmans honey mustard dressing to go with either a smoked salmon fillet or a chicken fillet.

Its low fat and tastes good plus I get 5 a day.

So doing ok for the first week, will update my actual loss on Monday.

10stonestolose · 25/02/2017 20:29

Holy..that's a shame, but you've saved me a job, I was thinking about making that! There's a sweet potato one too, but they're not that low carb. Could prob do it and have a small portion. It's rubbish when you spend ages following a recipe, only for it to turn out shit, I feel your pain!

Me...sounds like you're going great guns for your first week. You might lose even more by Monday, exciting.

I had a proper night out with far too many G&Ts last night...tonic was slimline and I've been good with food (result, considering this morning's sore head!) but I'm a bit scared about my weigh in tomorrow.

Morning all :)

Current stats

Starting weight: 132kg
Current weight: 127.8kg
Goal weight: 80kg

So a kg down from when I last posted so rather pleased about that. I have just taken the time to get back into the swing of logging my food and trying to keep under my calorie count of 1600.

What I'd like to do now is move more into a low carb style of eating (which just requires a little more planning) and starting to get some exercise up.

I am really struggling with the exercise motivation.....

Well done 10 - a loss is still a loss! And you have done incredibly well so far Grin
