Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Hey Rumtopf I am not at pain clinic stage yet and actually the pain has eased a lot so I think the new meds are helping. Walking12,000 steps a day again! apart from tonight because its lashing down

What are you doing at the gym? I know I need to start weights again but wary of it at the moment and sticking to just walking. As for C25K I only ever made it to week 4 or 5 before my knees hurt so may need to wait a while. Kettle bells sounds amazing!

Rumtopf · 23/03/2017 10:02

Oh I'm glad to hear the pain is improving and they've found you a medication that suits. You're doing really well to be back up to that many steps too.

A normal session in the gym would be 15 mins on the cross trainer, level 5 then 30 mins on the treadmill, rolling hills or fat burning up to 5% incline and at 5.5kph then I always do core work each time (100 crunches with 50kg added, 100 oblique twists with 60kg added, 100 back raises holding a 10kg plate), and I alternate other muscle groups on different days so Monday night is arms and back, Tuesday is extra core work, Wednesday night I swim a mile instead of going in the gym, Thursday night I would either go to yoga if there's space or go in the gym and do normal cardio with my own Kettlebells routine, Friday is legs and then I might just go in for cardio at the weekend if the weather is bad but I prefer to take the dogs out somewhere for a really long walk.
I don't lift heavy weights, but I do a lot of reps and sets. So arms I might only have set to 18kgs but I'll do 3 sets of 25. Oh and I target my triceps each time as well because I currently really hate my bingo wings! I've lost an inch and a half off the tops of my arms since Jan though so I'm happy with that.

It sounds a lot but I used to be really fit when I was down at 13st and did Kettelbell classes, Body pump, Pilates, yoga and Zumba as well. I desperately want to be fit enough not to feel like I might be sick after an hour's kettlebell class.
I'd also really like to be able to run 5k, not for any other reason than feeling that I can. Once I've lost another couple of stone I'll start C25K again as it makes my plantar fasciitis play up now as I'm simply too heavy.

Sorry if I've bored anyone with the gym talk!

ZestyDragon · 23/03/2017 20:31

That sounds like a great routine rumtopf! I would love to be as fit as you sound right now. I used to lift quite heavy with 60kg squats and deadlifts but there is no chance of that at the moment and I have really lost confidence in my ability to weight lift. You seem to have a great routine and well done on losing inches on your arms. You are doing great for maintaining muscle mass 😀

I suffer from planter fasciitis too by the way. It seems quite under control but the more weight I lose the better. I would also like to run a C25K just so that I can say I can 😄

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 24/03/2017 13:10

Quick pop in before the weekend hits! Sorry I'm not up to date but I'm 1lb down somehow after a week rushing about with work. (Currently at the airport, joy!) Hope you're all doing ok - will check in properly on Sunday!

ZestyDragon · 24/03/2017 22:41

Well done NoTractors!

MirabelleTree · 25/03/2017 06:46

Well done NoTractors. Impressive routine RumtopfI'm glad the meds are helping Zesty. I also suffer Plantar Fascitis and found it is better now I've lost weight. Need to try to up my steps to 12k, 10k isn't cutting it as I now burn about 350 calls less than I did walking that amount at the start.

1.25lb off this week (19) . Total 42.25lbs, 57.75lbs to go, 7 lbs to surgery target with 9 weeks remaining. That's got me to 3 stone this week, next target is 50lbs, the half way mark. People are noticing now.

ZestyDragon · 25/03/2017 11:27

Well done Mirabelle you are nearly half way to your target! You have made me realise that i may need to look at increasing my walking too though. Am at 11,000 steps but you are making me think about that.

Start: 287lbs
Current: 245lbs
Loss this week: 5lbs
Loss: 42lbs
To go: 85lbs
Goal: 160lbs

Very happy with my loss this week. I am hoping to lose another stone by mid June when I go on holiday.

MirabelleTree · 25/03/2017 12:29

Well done Zesty another great loss and congratulations on losing 3 stone too and you have now lost a third of what you're aiming for ! Another stone by mid June very achievable. I'm hoping for another stone before the end of May as would like to exceed my surgery target.

StubbleTurnips · 25/03/2017 19:26

Not caught up here for a while.... 2 off today following 3 weeks of maintaining! Off for a catch up on the thread.

Start: 249 / Current: 211 / loss: -2.0 / total to date: 38lb / total to go: 30ish

ZestyDragon · 25/03/2017 23:18

Thanks Mirabelle and yes, a third is a great way of putting it.

You have mentioned surgery before and you may have posted the reason before I joined but what is the surgery if you don't mind me asking?

Stubble well done - over half way there!

MirabelleTree · 25/03/2017 23:34

It's my gallbladder, got to the stage where I'm having lots of attacks . One finishing up again at the moment.

ZestyDragon · 25/03/2017 23:57

I found Tramadol very helpful and a hot water bottle.

Surgery is the best thing though. I had mine out 10 years ago. I had over a hundred small stones Grin

Well done Notanurse, great progress. I did try the Colpermin and I think they might have staved off one attack but at this point I think my gallbladder is firmly at the end of the road.

Zesty you don't do things by halves, over 100! Trying not to get Tramadol but it may yet come to it. At least the end is now in sight.

BreakingSad · 26/03/2017 20:25

Well done great losses everyone and Rumtopf great exercise regime, I need to add more variety.

Weighed in yesterday but didn't have a chance to post. Glad it's a loss as I've had two celebration meals out this week.

To lose 113
Left to lose 78
Lost this week 1

Rumtopf · 26/03/2017 21:10

Wonderful losses from everyone, Mirabelle and Zesty, 3 st each! Wow!

Having to really kick myself along as my head isn't in the right place at the moment. Head down and crack on otherwise I could just curl up and hide.

ZestyDragon · 26/03/2017 21:37

notanurse well done on your loss this week. You have actually made me realise that my planter fasciitis has improved lately without me realising and that must be the weight loss. Like you I still get twitches in one foot though.

mirabelle the surgeon called me his rock star 😳

Well done breakingsad. that's nearly a third of your way!

ZestyDragon · 26/03/2017 21:38

Rumtopf head down, soldier through and you will get there - and talk it out on here if needed.

Hey Notanurse, they're ok thank you for asking. I'm not sure why I feel discombobulated at the moment, the days are brighter and longer, the weather is good enough to get outside a lot, my family are all well and not causing any stress at the moment. We're not worried about money or job security or anything. But I feel so irritable quite a lot! It takes a lot of focus to not eat unhealthy foods. However, I'm getting to the gym around 5 times a week which isn't proving tough and I'm happy about. I'm sure I'll be fine in a few weeks, I'm just a little out of sorts!

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 28/03/2017 15:32

Rum I've been feeling the same - a real funk and no particular reason for it! Keep on doing what you're doing and I'm sure it will lift soon. I'm doing the same Smile

Well done everyone else - some great progress being made! I've got a quieter spell at work now that I've got my travelling over and done with for a bit, so hoping to crack on. Last week was very much a case of damage limitation, so it's nice to making my own meals again and being more in control Smile

Bet it's nice to be home Tractors. Hope you enjoyed the trip though? Isn't it frustrating to be in a tipsy turvy state for no real reason. I'm making lists and ploughing through loads of things I have to get done so at least I end the day feeling relatively productive.

Notanurse, hope you're ok now? It's great that you're losing weight so well already, that will help no end.

I had a NSV today which has pleased me no end. I synced my Fitbit and noticed while checking the various sections just how much my resting heart rate has dropped. Back in Jan it was around 75bpm and today it was 60!

MirabelleTree · 30/03/2017 07:31

Rumtopf and Tractors I hope the discombobulation lifts. Perimenipause can do this if either of you are at an age where it might start to be an issue.

Notanurse, I'm glad all is ok and at least you know you're on the case.

I've been struggling a bit this week but have just managed to stay on track. Yesterday as a dual national I felt incredibly sad when A50 was triggered, quite unexpectedly as I thought I was resigned to it. In the past I would have eaten my way through the sadness but I didn't so I think that is progress. Also I can get into some size 16 bottoms which is very definite progress.

ZestyDragon · 30/03/2017 22:29

That is good progress Mirabelle so well done. And well done on the size 16 bottoms! I am actually bottom heavy so seem to be 18 on top and 20 on the bottom. I was a 22 though so that's good.

Everyone seems low - its the midweek low before weighing in day :)
