Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

TaliDiNozzo · 27/12/2016 11:31

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

Awh Chesty don't be down hearted. At least you have realised that cheese can be a downfall and you can cut down on it next week. Keep positive!
I nearly had a meltdown in Tesco last night. Crap day at work, craving burger&chips so much that I swear I could taste and smell it. Then DH decides we should go food shopping. He kept asking what I wanted to eat, was I ok, what was wrong over and over. There was so much food everywhere. I thought I was going to start screaming. Managed to keep my shit together, bought loo roll, came home and made an omelette. If that's not someone who has massive food issues I don't know what is. Thinking maybe I should look into CBT? Anyone have any experience?
Ps Dukan is hell on earth. Changing to low carb only on Monday. I think. Aggghhh can't get my head straight at all. 😩

StubbleTurnips · 19/02/2017 11:10

mirabelle hadn't thought of it like that, it's given me a boost! I'm not sure if I'm aiming for 100lbs, I'd like to be around 13st ... which is 60+ lbs.
Next target is 14' 13 which puts me in the overweight BMI category not obese. 6lb to go.

Feeling the food cravings... I budget in my low cal to have a blue ribband a day (which I swapped for a bag of quavers and a baileys last night Sad ) but didn't realise MFP changes your calorie intake as your weight goes down. Ended up over budget!

Back on track today.

ZestyDragon · 19/02/2017 22:36

Start: 287lbs
Current: 263lbs
Loss this week: 5lbs
Loss: 24lbs
To go: 103lbs
Goal: 160lbs

A good loss this week - I want to celebrate but I have been here before with great losses at the start, then a plateau and then I give up. One thing positive is that I have increased my step goal this week to 11,000 per day so I have just over 77,000 steps this week which is the most I have ever done. Must try and sustain that.

PopsicleBopsicle · 19/02/2017 22:57

Yay @Zesty ! What a fab loss! What have you been doing this week?!

I'm weighing in tomorrow AM and am quite nervous. I just realised I have my brothers wedding in 8 weeks and am dreading the photos which is spurring me on- I really want to loose as much as possible before then so will start the 30 day shred on Tuesday :/

ZestyDragon · 19/02/2017 23:33

Thanks Popsicle! Honestly, just doing mfp for between 1700 and 1800 calories per day and walking - I usually do two walks each day. I do find getting up earlier before work and the late evening walk works for me. My back hurts a lot so two 35/45 minute walks suits me.

I am interested in increasing exercise though - where are you getting the 30 day shred?

FreeNiki · 19/02/2017 23:36

How many calories does mfp let you have?

ZestyDragon · 19/02/2017 23:46

Hey Niki, when you set up a profile it will ask for your weight, height etc and target weight. It will ask how many pounds per week you want to aim to lose and then works out how many calories you should have. I started on 2000 but I felt that was too much so adjusted it.

FreeNiki · 20/02/2017 00:14

2000!

Mine lets me have 1200 Sad

MirabelleTree · 20/02/2017 06:50

Well done Zesty that is great !

Niki that is vety low, Nutracheck doesn't let you go below 1400. What's your height ? Would you be able to afford a fitbit? That way you could see what you're burning and eat to allow a 500 or 1000 call defecit depending whether you're going for 1 to 2lbs a week. I'm not very convinced 1200 is sustainable very long term personally and you end up with the either on diet or off diet scenario rather than having the flexibility to work around things and stick to it.

Rumtopf · 20/02/2017 08:52

Morning everyone!

I've taken half term off as a bit of a holiday but am back on it today. Waiting for my Fitbit to finish charging and then am off to the gym. This week will be all about losing the 2lb I gained last week!

ZestyDragon · 20/02/2017 08:53

Hi Niki, I agree with Mirabelle, that is too low! What details did you put in? Have you it set for the maximum loss per week?

Well done notanurse! I think you can readjust your calories on there but I have not done so. I think as long as you are losing then leave it be.

FreeNiki · 20/02/2017 11:16

How much are fitbits?

BreakingSad · 20/02/2017 12:07

Well done Notanurse, especially at having a tough week, hope all went well for your daughter.

FreeNiki agreed 1200 isn't sustainable in my view. I'm on 1700 (just checked and if I used MFP to calculate it would be 1520) I put in manually. I read about TDEE and BMR and use their calculator and every time I drop to the next stone bracket I lower my calories.

To change manually on the app, go to more and click on goals, then click on calories and malnutrition goals and change the calories amount.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/02/2017 12:42

Wow, lots of activity on here! Fell spectacularly off the wagon on Saturday night so hoping I get back on the straight and narrow soon Blush

I don't think it helps that I'm considering shifting from low carb - I've tried lots of things, but the effect on my bowels isn't pleasant. I've been doing this a while now, in the hope it would improve but I think I'm at risk of getting massive piles! (Sorry for the TMI!)

I know from my mindset that MFP isn't a (mentallly) healthy option for me, so I am trying to work out my next steps. I think 5:2 might be a better option - I'm doing 16:8 quite naturally so it should be ok? As long as I stay sensible the rest of the time - I think keeping carbs relatively low is good for me, but I need to increase my fibre intake, keep my sugar levels low and watch my dairy intake.

I know I need to stick at this, and not chop and change, but it doesn't seem to make sense to continue as I am.

Rumtopf · 20/02/2017 12:57

Notanurse, well done! Hope your daughter is recovering well?

Freeniki, you can pick up a second hand Fitbit on eBay for not much at all now. I rate the ones with the HR monitor as I find it more accurate than my old basic step counter one.

Gym done!

Notractors, I find properly low carbing really difficult. I tried Atkins and had such painful kidneys I had to stop. Now I've reduced my refined carb intake (no bread, one portion of brown rice a week, one portion of wholemeal pasta OR potatoes a week) and don't worry about what veg or fruit I eat it's much better. Oh and cutting out all sugar apart from one spoon of Demerara in my morning coffee. It's about finding what suits you and you can live with long term.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/02/2017 13:06

Well done on the gym Rumtopf and thanks - I really like low-carb as it is so easy, but I think your approach may be a better way forward for me.

I'm not using it as an excuse to go back my carb-laden days (toast, a sandwich and then pasta for dinner) Blush but finding a balance, and what is sustainable, seems to be key.

PopsicleBopsicle · 20/02/2017 14:32

Weigh in this morning!

To lose: 100lbs
This week: 3lbs
Still to lose: 96lbs

Onwards and downwards!

Drunkvet · 20/02/2017 15:17

Weigh in
Start 280
Today 271
Loss so far 9
To go 103
I'm kind of amazed at this. Really delighted but don't feel that Dukan is sustainable for me in the longer term. But then again it seems to be working so it would be mad to stop. My head is melted.

ZestyDragon · 20/02/2017 15:24

Well done everyone on having a good week!

I am just looking forward to having less than 100lbs to lose....

HairsprayQueen · 20/02/2017 15:39

So many good losses, well done everyone.

Sorry to the people who are struggling headwise though- I have been too hence why I've been quiet.

No weight loss to speak of but I'm feeling a bit more positive (and very pleased that there are newbies to the thread, so I very selfishly don't feel too left behind! Welcome all)

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/02/2017 17:26

Glad to see you back Hairspray - here's to holding onto that positive frame of mind! Smile

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 20/02/2017 17:35

Just realised there were more posts Blush - well done on the losses Drunkvet and Popsicle! Smile

Rumtopf · 21/02/2017 09:45

More awesome losses, well done!

Gym again this morning and just tucking into a lovely breakfast of tinned tomatoes, scrambled eggs and mushrooms as I was starving.

Glad you're feeling more positive Hairspray.
