Anyone looking to lose 100lbs plus in 2017?

Just that really. I promise myself every year that I'm going to do it then I'm sat here every fucking year still not having done it.

I think I probably need to lose around 150lbs tbh but I thought it might be helpful to have a 100lbs plus thread for anyone in a similar boat to me.

How are you planning on doing it? I am restarting Weight Watchers (at home on the app), clean-ish eating and setting myself a daily step goal. Am also moving house in January/February which helps (in my mind) with the fresh start ethos.

honeysucklejasmine I am away this weekend too, I think it will be my first real test since Christmas and I am trying not to draw attention to the fact that I am on a diet as I don't want to talk about it with others really (apart from you lovely lot obviously). I am also going to weigh in on Friday as it is a month since I first weighed in and I am trying out monthly weigh ins as the weekly fluctuations can get me down and derail me, so I am hoping this way I will always see a loss.

I am feeling a bit bizarre, instead of obsessing about how much weight I need to lose and how long it's going to take me, I am excited about the fact this time next year I will be slimmer and healthier. I have got used to feeling a little bit hungry most of the time too which I think is good because before I never really let myself feel hungry. I am excited to weigh in on Friday Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 24/01/2017 19:48

WhereHaveYouGin - I'm feeling that way too, excited about what's to come Grin Feels good, doesn't it?

I'm also really enjoying spending time in the kitchen - I'm finding I'm making more time to spend cooking, and really enjoying it. I was an average cook before, and I don't think my skills have improved, but I'm definitely enjoying it more - feels much less of a chore to get everyone fed!

MirabelleTree · 25/01/2017 07:30

I can relate to the not wanting to tell people in RL. A few know but I'm very vague on what I've lost saying I'm getting fit fir my op.

Also feel excited about next year which I'm determined will be ad a person of much healthier weight. I'm putting a bit of money aside for clothes as we'll all need an entire new wardrobe and will have to find what suits our new shapes. I'm starting to get rid of some clothes in the wardrobe that I don't like and are getting too big plus taking more care over my nails.

honeysucklejasmine · 25/01/2017 09:07

I am excited about a slimmer new me. My dd is 11 months and i want to be able to play with her when she's running around a park like a mad toddler I'm the summer and onwards. Also ttc #2 so hoping that this time I won't be on the high risk pathway due to my bmi.

HairsprayQueen · 25/01/2017 09:11

Things I'm most looking forward to

  1. going on the rides at theme parks without panicking that the restraints won't fit

  2. not worrying if people need to sit next to me on the bus or train and my arse is taking up more than it's fair share

  3. I want nice boots, not whatever I can squeeze my fat legs in to!

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 25/01/2017 09:43

I've really noticed I'm happier, I think its because I feel I'm making positives changes.

Also some what unrelated to weight loss, before Christmas I stopped biting my nails, been biting them since I was a young child, and just seeing my nice new painted nails gives me a boost, I just feel more put together.

hairspray
I can't wait to be able to wear boots, even my wellies won't go on properly, and I get that feeling when I go to events at the school, they lock the chairs together and I feel very uncomfortable about taking up more than my fair share of space and I think people won't want to sit near meBlush

BreakingSad · 25/01/2017 12:19

These are things I'm looking forward to

Going in my kayak, haven't used it in two years for fear of getting stuckShock
Being able to fit in a seat, be it cinema, airplane etc, without having to sit awkwardly and to be happy to have my photo taken.

Laselva · 25/01/2017 13:17

I'm looking forward to-
Wearing a skirt in summer without my thighs chaffing.
Reclaiming clothes in my wardrobe - I've got so much stuff that no longer fits.
No longer avoiding full length mirrors / reflective windows when out and about - currently I'm even careful about which tube seat I sit in as I don't want to be sat opposite my own reflection!

Huge sympathies Notanurse Flowers They are very painful. Mine start under breast bone, radiate round under the ribs then into right side of back. Hopefully your GP will be nice about it, it's very common that dieting can trigger gallstones unfortunately.

Can relate to all the things to look forward to above. I really want to just have done it and to stop having this obese label, for good.

notanurse hope you get on ok at the doctors, I started having attacks 4 years ago, had to wait almost a year to get it removed due to being pregnant, so much better now.

MirabelleTree · 25/01/2017 15:57

My are finally coming out this year after over nearly 14 years. At first I'd get the occasional attack but now they are very frequent. I have codeine and buscopan for the pain, a TENs machine plus wheat pad .

Low fat does help but not always with me now. They say the classic profile is female, fat, fair, fertile and forty apparently! I've read a few people online who got them whilst on SW etc.

Rumtopf · 25/01/2017 20:08

They sound really painful! I hope you can both get some successful treatment quickly.

I had a cheeky weigh in this morning after upping my exercise so much and I've gained 3lbs back! Wth?! I'm not due on for a week. I'll have to ignore it until Friday and see what's going on then. Really tired and achy, I think it's taking my body a while to realise that being active everyday is ok.

MirabelleTree · 26/01/2017 07:25

Ignore it Rumtopf, it doesn't count until Friday and sometimes you get fluctuations like that. Frustrating when you see it though and I know it does make you worry. Sympathies on the sore muscles.

Notanurse how did it go with the GP?

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 26/01/2017 08:15

Notanurse, Did Dr refer you for a ultrasound

Try to ignore it rumtop, it's so frustrating isn't it, our bodies get confused when we make changes to what's become the norm. It'll even out in the end

MirabelleTree · 26/01/2017 10:48

I've downloaded some music for running album for when walking. I find that having a fast beat going tends to keep my pace up a bit.

Rumtopf · 26/01/2017 13:52

It's gone again, how on earth does that work?!
I'm also running really hot, all the time! So much so I had to go and sleep in the spare room as it was unbearable to touch dh as I got sweaty, is that my metabolism speeding up?

Mirabelle, there are some specific running albums where the beat of the music is to a particular rhythm to help you maintain a speed. I know if I listen to something too slow on the cross trainer I come to a grinding halt but if I've got something with a stronger, faster beat then I get it done in no time at all.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 26/01/2017 18:45

Bodies are strange things Rumtopf! Hope you got on ok notanurse

My scales are up, but I've worked out why! I've been struck by a ninja period - haven't had one in months, and this one has come out of nowhere. I'm so irregular, I'd sort of forgotten about the whole business Confused Strangely, instead of wanting to inhale the world as I normally do when I'm on, I can't be bothered eating. This is unprecedented for me!

Going to treat myself to an early night, and perhaps a bath. DH can deal with the DCs Wink

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 26/01/2017 19:38

Been finding it tough today, just wanted to eat all day, pick pick pick.

Dh is on nights, always find these evenings tougher.

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 26/01/2017 20:19

Minnies - I know that feeling, it's so easy to keep picking, because it's not a proper meal, so you pick some more...

I've just done my nails badly if you need something to occupy your hands? Friend of mine swears by facemasks as she can't eat if her face is covered in gloop Grin

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 26/01/2017 20:31

Both good idea tractor, thanks

The cat has saved me this evening, she's curled up on my lap and I'm such a softy I won't move her to get food Grin

NoTractorsAtTheTable · 26/01/2017 20:40

MirabelleTree · 27/01/2017 06:58

2.5 lbs off for me this week. Total lost 25.25 lbs so 74.75lbs to go. Officially quarter of the way there.

HairsprayQueen · 27/01/2017 08:12

Well done Mirabelle, it's so worthwhile to think about all the weeks losses in terms of milestones, a quarter of the way is brilliant!

For me this week:

To lose- 100lbs
Lost so far- put on 2lbs
Lost this week- 2lbs
Still to lose- 100lbs
