Help me MN, I have 4 stone to lose and 10k debt to pay off!

Hello,

I've mentioned this on a couple of other threads but I hope you don't mind if I start my own thread as I have 2 really important goals this year and want to tackle them both, together.

This morning, I am 14 stone exactly. I'm 5'1' and have never even had kids! (I'm 33). I gave up booze 2 years ago so now time to tackle the cake/takeaway habit. If I lose 2lbs a month, I can be 10 stone in time for (hopefully!) going to Wimbledon this year.

I have taken some "before" shots of myself nekkid in the mirror and entered my weight on fitbit. And am stocking up on healthy food (low GI type idea). I also have a wee stepper machine in the living room so I need to get on that.

RE the debt - long story short this was due to slight overspending mounting up and then being out of work for a while. It's partly overdraft, rest credit card. I should be able to pay this off if I just stop filling my trolley with things I don't need, esp in Tesco. And if I stop buying clothes/random crap. So Lidl it is, going forward! I probably won't clear the lot but if I could get it under 5k that would be great.

So here we go any followers and support is much appreciated.

I wish you luck in whatever goals you have for yourself!

I look forward to Boxing Day 2017 when I should be slim, healthy and financially sound.

WE CAN DO THIS!

Do the scales in boots still do body fat? Would be cheaper maybe?

Starving today. Mfp has informed me I can eat my exercise calories. This works out to a whole extra decent meal a day. This is why I'm hungry.

Any tips for snacky stuff for the weekend? Me and my 9 yr old ninja usually stock up with pringles and dips and chocolates, sweets and cake. Thought maybe cottage cheese and veg dips and fruit salad type thing. Munchies in front of the tv at the weekend are a bit of a must. (Dh will be eating his bodyweight in mini eggs, thankfully I can't stand Cadbury!)

73kittycat73 · 02/02/2017 20:01

Never thought to look in Boots, I was looking on Argos.
I calculated my calorific needs with an online calculator (Linked on here but I can't remember which thread! Will try and have a nosey for it, hang on...Found it! ): tdeecalculator.net/
It says I need 2,255! I wish, lol. :p I'm averaging 1-1200 calories a day. Getting closer to Monday, can't wait! Grin Chocolate cake here I come!
Snacks, isn't plain popcorn supposed to be low cal. I'll have Google...It's 30 calories per cup: www.google.co.uk/#q=is+plain+popcorn+low+calorie
Apart from that I can only think of cucumber sticks!

ladylambkin · 02/02/2017 20:04

First month...9lbs off start weight of 15 5 and now 14 10 (5ft 7in) unfortunately nothing paid to reduce my debt. .still working on that one!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 02/02/2017 20:31

9lbs is good for a month! More than 2lbs/week.

Might see if I can pop to boots tomorrow and experiment with their in-store fat percentage scales.

Brilliant thread!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 02/02/2017 21:54

Thanks Morris! I made it myself Grin

I have been naughty tonight and eaten about 60g of dark chocolate! On the other hand, that's nothing compared to the naughtiness I used to get up to which often involved a McDonalds and a takeaway in the same day! (Plus crisps and choc inbetween)

ChickenVindaloo2 · 02/02/2017 21:55

I'm getting about £4-500/month overtime atm so chipping away at the debt with that money.

Congrats ladylambkin, that's awesome! Star

Chicken, I vaguely remember on 'Secret Eaters,' hearing that dark chocolate was something to do with weight loss. I'm being clear as mud here aren't I? Wink I'll try my old friend Google:
www.google.co.uk/#q=dark+chocolate+and+weight+loss

Seems a bit half and half, I think. Anyway, I'm sure a little bit of chocolate won't hurt. We all slip from time to time. It's what you do after that counts. Ie, give up and go full on binge, or chalk it up to experience and get back on the wagon.
Sounds like you are doing the latter, well done! Smile

ChickenVindaloo2 · 03/02/2017 13:22

Thanks Kitty, I was still 13st 1 this am so made no difference.

And back on it as strictly as ever today. Grin

Dark chocolate (in moderation of course) has health benefits Grin

Well done ladylambkin.

73kittycat73 · 03/02/2017 19:00

How's everyone doing today? I'm glad your little slip didn't mess you up Chicken. Smile
How are you today Row?
I've got to be strong tomorrow, nieces coming round. Last week when they were round youngest niece had to alert me to the fact I was eating crisps! They were there and I just did it automatically! There will be birthday cake around too tomorrow. A sponge and a chocolate cake. I'm going to have the tiniest of slithers, just to get a taste, then leave it there. Here's hoping! Grin

MorrisZapp · 03/02/2017 19:49

I eat crisps every night, the multi pack ones only have ca 120 calories. I have a packet to accompany my splendid 'skinny soup'. Sainsbury's have it half price just now, I can massively recommend the new England butternut squash and cumin. V high in fibre too (parp).

73kittycat73 · 04/02/2017 01:19

Morris, Wootsits have less than 100 calories in them iirc. Cheese and onion square crisps too.

BlueFolly · 04/02/2017 01:32

I remember this thread from December - so inspirational!!!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 04/02/2017 06:26

Thanks blue! You ain't seen nothing yet!

Go for it!

I'm currently 4 stone lighter than I was on October 1st so it's totally doable.

Good luck 😊

LovelyBath77 · 04/02/2017 08:50

Hi there I just found this thread, have also being doing low carb since the start of the year and lost a stone. there's a good website called diet doctor op have you seen that, with lots of info and stories and stuff on the health benefits, quite inspiring. Also if you go on the Fast diet site (Michael Mosely) there's a tracker thing which graphs your weight loss and measurements. HTH! I have also been at the dark choc, but have discovered a 90% one which is actually quite nice and not bitter- the Lindt one. HTH and good luck with your continued successes! Smile

Rowgtfc72 · 04/02/2017 09:16

CactusFred, wow!

LovelyBath, I don't have a sweet tooth but love dark chocolate. Am going to look out for that.

73kittycat73, had pizza for tea. It tasted very, very sweet after a week of not eating a lot of sugar. Need to start making my own with tinned tomatoes and not that horrible gloopy sauce you get on bought one's. Feel like I have a hangover this morning!

LovelyBath77 · 04/02/2017 17:18

Yes, i find that too- your taste buds can change and things seem more sweet. I made a dark choc 'cake' today from that site I mentioned, husband says it is bitter but I find it Ok! It says to have it with thick cream and berries. Oh well I'll have it to myself then! There is also a low carb 'fathead' pizza recipe which works out well, I made it for the kids last week. A bit richer than normal pizza so you don't need so much of it...It's good if you can find things you enjoy and not feel you are depriving yourself I think.

73kittycat73 · 05/02/2017 02:11

Wow, CactusFred, that's about a stone a month! Shock Well done! How did you do it? Calorie counting, weight watchers, etc.
Congratulations on the stone lost LovelyBath77, that's awesome. Smile
Hi Row. Smile I understand where you are coming from. Today I had a caramel cup (From the leftover Christmas Quality Street. It was an emergency! lol My brother was supposed to go to a football match and come home afterwards with some tea at about 5 o clock. However he rolled in rather merry at about 8.30!) and it didn't taste anywhere near as good as I remembered. However, I would still do taste tests if anyone required it of me. Wink Grin
Hope you're ok today Chicken.
One more day to go then I get weighed, can't wait! (I just hope the scales match up to my expectations.)

Rowgtfc72 · 05/02/2017 09:23

Ok so last week I lost five and a half pounds.Going to have to ramp it up for next week.
Had cake for tea last night, homemade so I knew what was in it.
Made lots of healthy flapjack and soup yesterday and there care now plastic boxes in my freezer!

Hope the scales are good to you tomorrow 73kittycat73.

73kittycat73 · 05/02/2017 12:52

Thanks Row, and congratulations on the 5 1/2 lbs! In one week, that's awesome! Smile The flapjacks sound yummy. Love a good flapjack me. Smile

fluffiphlox · 05/02/2017 12:55

Sponsored slim?Smile

Rowgtfc72 · 05/02/2017 15:16

Cherry and walnut! Make dh flapjack for his pack up but it's chocolate covered and I don't like it. Thinking of apricot and walnut next time.

WholeL0ttaRosie · 05/02/2017 16:26

Great thread!

I've got the Fitbit scales, I think they must be broken though as they're showing my weight has stayed the same the last three weeks or so...Wink
I've found that sometimes they say my fat percentage has gone up when my actual weight has gone down. I like looking at the Fitbit dashboard and seeing everything synced but I don't think they're any better than normal scales really.
