Help me MN, I have 4 stone to lose and 10k debt to pay off!

Hello,

I've mentioned this on a couple of other threads but I hope you don't mind if I start my own thread as I have 2 really important goals this year and want to tackle them both, together.

This morning, I am 14 stone exactly. I'm 5'1' and have never even had kids! (I'm 33). I gave up booze 2 years ago so now time to tackle the cake/takeaway habit. If I lose 2lbs a month, I can be 10 stone in time for (hopefully!) going to Wimbledon this year.

I have taken some "before" shots of myself nekkid in the mirror and entered my weight on fitbit. And am stocking up on healthy food (low GI type idea). I also have a wee stepper machine in the living room so I need to get on that.

RE the debt - long story short this was due to slight overspending mounting up and then being out of work for a while. It's partly overdraft, rest credit card. I should be able to pay this off if I just stop filling my trolley with things I don't need, esp in Tesco. And if I stop buying clothes/random crap. So Lidl it is, going forward! I probably won't clear the lot but if I could get it under 5k that would be great.

So here we go any followers and support is much appreciated.

I wish you luck in whatever goals you have for yourself!

I look forward to Boxing Day 2017 when I should be slim, healthy and financially sound.

WE CAN DO THIS!

Been to the docs for my pill check today, weighed in at 14st 7lb. That's the first time in a long time I haven't started the new year at 15st plus. Let's see what the damage is in six months at the next one!

73kittycat73 · 03/01/2017 11:48

Lol, I shall take a look at the spreadsheet. What do you put on it? I wouldn't know how to format it. Maybe starting weight, weight lost, etc? I must admit, I got a gorgeous notebook for Christmas (Has sparkly bits on it and everything! Grin ) and have marked it up ready. I've put a column for the date, and another for weight. I have also started a new one for measurements (Bust, waist, and hips.). I shall only be weighing myself once a month. I think with (Hopefully!) a bigger weight loss than every week it'll spur me on more.
Good luck ladies, hope you're all doing really well. Smile

ChickenVindaloo2 · 03/01/2017 13:32

Hey Kitty, your notebook sounds good!

Does anyone know if I can post my template excel spreadsheet for others to use? It's pretty simple but did take an hour to put in the formulae so others may as well get the use!

Good stuff Row! In six months you could have made a really big change and impress your Dr with your new low blood pressure!

Rowgtfc72 · 03/01/2017 16:21

It always starts well...........Grin

annandale · 03/01/2017 22:21

Aargh, I'm a bit stuck. I've just about lost 1kg of the 3 I put on over Christmas but am bouncing up and down horribly. Need to find a new mojo.

One of the things I am trying to do is get more sleep as I lose weight brilliantly while asleep (if only because not raiding the fridge) so goodnight all!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 04/01/2017 19:31

Hope you had a good sleep annandale! I often find that exercise gets me off a plateau.

First day back at work today and it went fine. Laid out my breakfast and packed lunch last night and took dinner out of freezer too.

I don't seem to be hungry.

I've got my fitbit back on and have set my target to lose 2lbs a week. It will monitor my activity and tell me how much to eat (or not!) so I can make my Wimbledon - 10st target.

I find with low carb I often lose weight in weird patters eg nothing for days then 3lbs all at once, then put one back on, then nothing, then 2lbs off...Anyhow the main thing is not to get demotivated even if it's slower than I'd like. The fat has to come off eventually if I stick to my plan!

Re: money. Seems so obvious but I'm saving a shitload by not having to buy lunch or takeaways. And because I'm using smaller portions, I'm actually finding I've not even getting to food before it's going out of date! So I can buy much less.

I'd be interested to know how others are getting on in respect of both weight and money now that we're officially into the new year? Grin

Had no work this week (im agency on a zero hours contract). Luckily i have savings for this eventuality but could do with work next week.
I have decluttered the fridge twice, personally, and could list you what nice food is in the house. Being alone with the fridge is the worst thing as I have zero willpower.
Not going to lose any weight or save cash this week.

stumblymonkey · 05/01/2017 18:09

Hello!

Checking in now I'm back to work which means I've officially 'started'.

Weighed in at 18st 1lbs on Tuesday morning, this morning I was 17st 13lbs Grin

I'm using MFP to track calories (currently get 1610 a day as I'm a fatty) and use 'Monitor My Weight' to give me pretty graphs and stats on my progress to goal.

I get married on 1st Dec so aiming to lose 4-5 stone by June to buy a wedding dress and then maybe another 1-2 stone before the wedding.

Also have much debt to pay off and lots to save for (wedding, house deposit, mat leave for future DC)

isthistoonosy · 05/01/2017 19:50

I've lost the Xmas bulge 2.7 kgs (6lbs) so now I.just need to keep going with the rest of it.

annandale · 05/01/2017 20:14

Really annoyed that MFP doesn't seem to have an app for a Windows phone any more - it did do when I first had a Windows phone but they seem to have stopped it a few months ago. Have to do it on the laptop when I can get it out of ds's hands. Has anyone tried any other similar apps?

I'm a tantalising half kilo away from getting down to my pre -Christmas weight...

Spending has been a bit tricky. Spent £70 on new school clothes for ds who has grown out of everything, but I really hope he doesn't need more new shoes - in the past couple of months I've bought him new football boots, new wellies, new cheap padded jacket and athletics spikes - all OUCH. Am selling the old boots on eBay but not much interest, may end up in the charity shop. How in hell do people with more than one child manage this stage?? I then walked past the Body Shop and bought a new tube of bb cream. Not in more debt yet but it doesn't help pay off extra.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 05/01/2017 20:42

ooooh!!! Lots of progress, well done!!

By tonight we should have eaten all the nice things in the house. Dieting can't start while I know it's here! Luckily dh is on board with this as when we all got on the scales New years day, for the first time he won't tell me what he weighs.
Digging out loads of stuff to sell in the great new year declutter as well Grin

ChickenVindaloo2 · 07/01/2017 22:06

Fab stuff, Rowgtfc72 & DH! I look forward to hearing your mutual progress!

Today, I only ate half of what I put on my plate - I realised I didn't need ALL the roast beef in the pack!

My weight has been 13st 9lbs for most of this week so looking forward to my next drop.

OP posts:
annandale · 08/01/2017 11:52

Yes!! Have got rid of my Christmas bulge and am back under 90 kg by not very much

That's amazing CV - what a great technique. I have to take a small plateful, once it's on the plate I can't not eat it, but I can leave it in the pan. Sometimes. Or at least i can fill the plate with spinach.

Rowgtfc, your selloff sounds great. I've got no bids on the extremely used football boots I stuck on eBay, can't think why. Before Christmas there were a few of us round here who were a bit tipsy and talking about doing a car boot together, must follow that up.

Rowgtfc72 · 08/01/2017 15:05

Well done on weight loss everyone. I got on the scales this morning and I'm 15 st 2 ! Have put all my weight back on!

ChickenVindaloo2 · 08/01/2017 17:47

Well done annandale! Are you looking to lose more?

Rowtgc - what's the plan? Grin

I was 13st 7 this morning which means I've lost my first half a stone and am on track to be 10st by Wimbledon (at 2lbs/week - fitbit confirms this!). I worked out I burn 1600 cals a day just by existing!

My brother's girlfriend is going to introduce me to the gym...she's 26 and a natural size 8, this should be fun! Grin

OP posts:
annandale · 08/01/2017 18:23

Yes, my aim is a healthy BMI which would be 77kg so I have a fair way to go yet. One target at a time - next aim is to be 13 stone 10 which is what I was when I met dh - will need to be 87kg. Might get there in a month or so, we'll see.

Well row - you did it before you can do it again - and does that mean you're no heavier than you were before, anyway?

ChickenVindaloo2 · 08/01/2017 19:18

I was reading an article the other day about women who are a size 6...they said they work hard to stay that way. Made me think...it's become acceptable/normal to be a bit fat. It's almost frowned upon to be slim whether thru jealousy by other women or whatever. Several people in my office are pretty overweight so I don't feel particularly judged whereas I've felt uncomfortable before in an office full of skinny minnies. Maybe a little peer pressure is a good thing though if it keeps me a healthy weight!

OP posts:
annandale · 08/01/2017 20:42

Interesting... I agree that we/the food companies have normalised constant eating. Adverts suggest you're a bad mum if you don't instantly respond to 'I'm hungry' with what would have been a meal when I was growing up, and it's supposed to be a 'snack'. Nearly lost my rag at the Kelloggs ads recently suggesting you have a massive great pile of cereal, yogurt and dried fruit at your desk just to 'keep going'.

Rowgtfc72 · 09/01/2017 08:03

Still no heavier than before!

Nothing interesting to eat in the house now so healthy eating it is. I don't eat unhealthy food, just too much food and snacks

We've bought a punchbag for the garage and dd (the ninja) has dug out her skipping rope. Had a little go yesterday and it nearly killed me.

I'd like to be 13st 7. It would put me under that magic 14st 3 that I can't seem to get past.Sad

ChickenVindaloo2 · 09/01/2017 19:21

Rowt - how about a fast to drop a few pounds quickly? Might get you off the plateau. Or do the strict level of Atkins. I lost 4/5lbs on my first week. I know some of it is water but still!

OP posts:
ChickenVindaloo2 · 09/01/2017 19:22

My scales initially said 13st 8lbs this morning but then consistently said 13st 6 after that...

I feel like I'm about to get my period so I must remember fluctuations are normal!

OP posts:
ChickenVindaloo2 · 11/01/2017 21:52

Well can you believe it, I went to the gym today! It's a PureGym about 10 mins drive from my house. You just pay monthly online and it's open 24/7, you just use a keypad entry thing. I did a 15 min abs class and then about 20 mins on a couple of cardio machines. That was enough for the first time!

OP posts:
annandale · 11/01/2017 22:20

Good effort CV! That sounds like it would be several hundred calories on MFP.

Too many bloody cakes in my life this week. My abstemious colleagues are not eating them fast enough. Exercise has to help though.
