Happy Advent!

Here's the link to the November thread where we cheered each other on to be MoSlender

Now we slide frostily into Christmas with the hope of losing more (or at least not losing our grip completely)

Hahaha! Ah well BOOP 'Tis the season and all!

12.2 this morning, lets hope I don't bounce back to 12.3 again tomorrow I really want to be 11 something by Christmas day, but next week I have a 3 course meal out plus 2 evenings out with friends, so I shan't hold my breath. I haven't seen some of these friends since August so I am hoping for a few Shock Shock Shock from them!

DP has his work do tonight, so it is just me for dinner, and I tend to be v. lazy as I hate cooking for one and washing up, so it is highly likely dinner will be a plate of cheese, celery sticks, apple and peanut butter with possibly a smattering of olives and gherkins. If I do feel like cooking I will have a fried egg on mashed avocado, lets see how lazy I am feeling!

Were I not dieting it would be cheese and crackers this time of year!

BitOutOfPractice · 14/12/2016 09:49

Oof I'm feeling a little jaded this morning. Please type quietly

Moooornin' BOOP Grin

So you had a good time then?

Hairspray that is a jolly virtuous dinner plan! I'm all about the hot food this year, I'd feel very deprived with cold veg and cheese. Although as you say, somehow not so with cheese and crackers... Confused Do you have the mashed avocado on a slice of bread / toast?

HairsprayBabe · 14/12/2016 12:15

Quim I don't eat bread as part of this diet, so no just in a pile with the egg on one side, it is nicer with bread but alas I cannot have it!

I don't mind a nibbly dinner, I might have a few spoons of chutney and we have brie and smoked cheese so I wont feel too deprived!

The BSD is no bread, sugar, rice, pasta or potatoes, 800 cals for 8 weeks, I keep to about 1000 and have cheat days, it is supposed to be used to reverse Type II diabetes but I'm just using it for weight loss. You are supposed to move onto maintenance for 4 weeks after the initial 8 weeks and then go back to the extreme if you still have more to lose but I am very much in the zone atm and don't want to drop the ball by resetting the clock to start a second round.

Have been on it properly since the start of September and lost about 3st would like to lose another 1 and a half 2 st to get me firmly in the "healthy" bracket of BMI and thinner than my sister

BitOutOfPractice · 14/12/2016 14:21

Ha! Seeing your comment about your sister I was thinking it's amazing what motivates us isn't it?

There is so much diabetes on both sides of my family. But that isn't what motivates me. No, it's clothes Confused

That and a throw away comment that my mom made about me bring bigger than my cousin now (she has always been big). I am confident that, come my mom's 80th next year, I will be smaller than her

BitOutOfPractice · 14/12/2016 14:24

Btw your diet sounds very hard core hairspray. I don't think I could do that. I just stick to calorie counting with mfp and I'm pretty close to 3 stone off though it's taken me longer than you

OP posts:
HairsprayBabe · 14/12/2016 15:02

It was horrible at first, like the first two weeks, but mainly I have what DP has and just nix the carbs, so chilli and rice becomes a chilli bowl with avocado and sour cream, stew I don't add spuds, curry no rice but I can have popadom as they are made either with lentil or chick pea flour depending on the brand etc.

I also learned how to make chick pea flour chips, pasta, pastry and crackers so I don't feel like I have to only have boring diet foods! DP says he prefers my chick pea chips, but I don't know if he is just being kind! Hmm

And the weight drops off so fast it really keeps me motivated! I was a similar size to her to begin with but we are close in age and constantly compared so I like to be one up on her, which sounds mean, but we are actually good mates, she doesn't know she is my benchmark!

Lorelei76 · 14/12/2016 16:15

I am still floating bloatedly over Norf London. Planes have passed carrying banners saying " how can you retain that much water and fly?"

Children have pointed to my worried face and asked their parents if anything can be done to help.

People have peered anxiously at street lights thinking the bulbs have faded, but then they look up and see Lorelei the flying porpoise.

BitOutOfPractice · 14/12/2016 17:02

Aww Lorelei I'm sure you are gorgeous!

OP posts:
QuimReaper · 14/12/2016 18:47

I would struggle enormously with the BSD too. I can do low cal, am coming in under 800cals today but every day for 8 weeks sounds exhausting!

I was too late for a swim today but did walk over 13km instead Halo Much of it with two bottles of tonic humped over my shoulder. Very clever planning by me, but I was telling myself it'd be burning extra calories...

QuimReaper · 14/12/2016 19:01

Lorelei I take it no sign of AF yet then? You poor thing, I do so hate feeling bloaty!

Lorelei76 · 14/12/2016 20:53

Thanks Bit
Quit, 13km, wow!
I'm on the Pill, sometimes the week off is fine, other times it's Porpoise Central. Weird.
That said, I weigh the same as last week so hopefully when it's all done I'll have lost a bit.
Hairspray, chick pea flour chips is not something I've come across, I will look that up.

QuimReaper · 14/12/2016 21:46

I'm curled up having a reread of Harry Potter Grin Inspired by another HP thread, and because it's Christmas. Anyway, it's making me reeeeeally want to pig out on chocolate. I'm not normally too bad for sweet cravings but HP seems to be catapulting me back to childhood!

Archduke · 15/12/2016 04:32

Why oh why oh why do I always loose weight from my knockers before anywhere else. Some kind of cruel joke that the 3kg I have lost have vamooshed from my boobs whilst the 15kg remaining is stubbonly clinging to my stomach and arse. I will be as flat as a pancake soon with the only jiggly bits being below my rib line.

Quim I'd love to be doing more walking but find it hard to fit really long walks in to my day. Do you get up reeeeely early?

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 15/12/2016 08:30

Quim Harry Potter is terrible for giving me cravings. I think it's the detailed descriptions of all the lovely food!

Chickpea flour chips sound nice, I will have to try them! I am a big fan of chickpeas generally, but especially roasted as a snack.

Anyway I'm having a big christmas meal later with some friends, so I am trying to be as virtuous as possible until then. So far it's going fine

HairsprayBabe · 15/12/2016 08:30

Morning all, 12.2 again, ah well at least it isn't going up! Plus I don't have any plans to gorge this weekend so I shouldn't bounce up again, in theory!

Honestly it isn't that bad, BSD I mean, I'm so used to it now its just normal plus I eat tonnes of healthy fats so I am rarely hungry these days, I haven't even had a single mince pie yet this year!

HairsprayBabe · 15/12/2016 08:39

cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1014755-panelle

I use this recipe, BUT I bake them for 20 mins at 180 flipping half way through rather than pan fry because I am lazy and don't like hovering over a pan for 10 mins waiting for chips, I also use much less oil when I oven bake them.

They are essentially like polenta chips, but low carb!

QuimReaper · 15/12/2016 09:01

Archduke SAME HERE, it's so frickin annoying! It's the first place I notice weight loss, meaning my boobs and belly are the same size until the latter begins to shrink!

I walk in the evenings mostly: I just incorporate it into a walk to the pool or the supermarket, plug into a podcast and take a long-ass route there and back Grin Yesterday I went to the building site and had planned to walk aaall the way back to the swimming pool, but when I realised I wasn't going to have time, I extended the walk instead mainly because I had to pee so I went to the loos in the park but they were closed so I had to squat under a tree Blush . It's usually only about 8km, so if the pool is 2kmish away I just add a couple of errands onto the beginning to take a long detour and then walk a longer way back, that way it only adds 45 mins or so on to an existing trip.

HairsprayBabe · 15/12/2016 09:10

Quim Do you walk in the light or dark? What if it is raining?
I always make excuses for stuff like that... I currently walk from my house to the bus stop approx 10 mins from the bus stop to work approx 7 mins and then back obvs. So that is about 35 mins of walking a day. Once or twice a week I walk from work to town about 15 mins each way so +1hr a week. We don't drive so all getting around is bus based or walking but this time of year I am v lazy.

BitOutOfPractice · 15/12/2016 09:11

Oooo hairspray I am so going to try those chips. Can you get chickpea flour in the supermarket? I hope you don't have to go to an asian supermarket for it becuase we just don't have any round these boringly monocultural parts

Quim I thought I was the only person still squatting under trees Grin

Just been reading this list of tips from Amelia Freer. Not usually a fan of this kind of thing but a few interesting and doable little pointers

OP posts:
HairsprayBabe · 15/12/2016 09:26

BOOP I get mine from Tesco but live in Birmingham, so it is multicultural around here any way and they cater for that, usually in the world foods section. My parents bought some from Morrisons, so it is about. It comes in a yellow bag with green and red writing on in a language and script I can't understand.

I think you can also get it in Holland and Barrett but it is bloody expensive from there! If you order your shopping online just add it to the basket!

BitOutOfPractice · 15/12/2016 09:32

Oh! Yow'm a Brummie? I'm from the Black Country but I don't live there any more sadly

I have a food shop ordered for next Wednesday and I'm going to add some now

OP posts:
BitOutOfPractice · 15/12/2016 09:34

Damn it they don't do it at my local, massive Sainsburys

OP posts:
HairsprayBabe · 15/12/2016 10:01

To clarify, I am not from Birmingham, I just live here now...

We moved here after uni for work, DP is from Brum, I am not, still from west mids, but not Birmingham and I don't have an accent either

Just to make that clear! Grin

BitOutOfPractice · 15/12/2016 10:33

Ah, I see. I can still speak to you then if you're not a Brummie Wink
