10st 0.5 this morning. Up from last week. Not surprised. Angry

SmellTheGlove · 19/02/2017 13:06

It's the keeping at it that is the hardest I think. But that's the key to losing weight not just eating less. And to be honest that's why I'm constantly gaining and then losing a bit and then gaining. I just bloody love food and have a huge appetite! I do think it's a bit of an addiction. Sometimes I look around me at work meetings or gatherings of friends where food is sitting out and I just think 'why are any of you eating the biscuits???? I'm just either shovelling them in or practically sitting on my hands trying NOT to shovel them in. I feel deprived when I can't eat as much as I'd like. I am managing to stick with this at the moment but that's quite unusual for me. I do find keeping up with this thread very motivating, so thank you all for keeping me company!

SmellTheGlove · 19/02/2017 13:09

On a less positive note, I just made DH's birthday cake and made salted caramel sauce for it, and ate about a vat full. It's the nicest thing I have ever made! I estimated I ate about 500cals just in sauce!!!

Notsoskinnyminny · 19/02/2017 17:05

Up 1/5lb from Thursday to 9st 5 but not surprised as I've been in piggy mode. Why can't I just go out and have a nice lunch with friends and then a light dinner instead of thinking well I've blown my calories for today so fck it where are the chocolate cream hobnobs and eat 2 while making a pot of coffee quickly followed by another 2 and then because I was in the fck it mindset I made lasagne and then had apple pie and cream followed by best part of a box of heroes even though I was stuffed to the gills.

wench don't give up, we've just got to KOKO and we'll get there.

smell can I have your recipe its DHs birthday next weekend and I usually make a cake but fancy a change from carrot cake or red velvet.

happy she's the best dressed student I know. Thankfully she works hard to fund her designer habit but didn't buy anything today as we had an almighty slanging match in a shop with a random stranger. The gist of her rant was that DDs anorexic and I was encouraging it. I was livid, DDs naturally tiny and the shop is one of the few where their smallest size fits her. Its not the cheapest of places and she'd seen an outfit that would be great for teaching and wanted my opinion - she looks younger than most Y8s so her work outfits are 'conservative with a quirky twist' anyway she tries it on and it swamped her. Through the curtain I asked are you losing weight again she shouts back no I was 6:2 last week to which I said 'you fat cow' as she opened the curtain to show me another dress. The woman obviously thought DD was a lot younger than she is and said it wasn't natural to be that thin and I should be reported to social services blah blah blah I couldn't get a word in edgeways. Then DD calmly tells her she's rude and her comments were insulting to a 22 year old professional woman and asked if she'd say anything to the mother of a fat person - she might be tiny but she can stand up for herself. The poor sales assistants were mortified but trying not to laugh at the same time as the woman stormed out of the shop. I can't wait for DDs snapchat/twitter accounts of the incident Grin

Wenchelda · 19/02/2017 17:16

Notso the f**k it mindset you describe is exactly my problem. What could be a minor little slip up with a high cal snack too easily turns into a whole week day of over indulgence because I think to myself "I'm already over my limit so I may as well write today off and go completely over the top". Which then makes it much harder to stay within my allowance the next day so the same thing happens again.

I feel like this has been me pretty much all the time since Christmas. I'm so annoyed with myself. If I'd carried on as I were before Xmas, I'd probably have reached my 9st 7lb target by now Angry

Ice3 · 19/02/2017 18:06

I'm back!

I hadn't weighed myself for 35 days so was a bit nervous. I am now 10st8lbs. 1.8lbs less than when I left somehow despite all the takeaways and junk food! (my recent food section on MFP has kebab, pizza and cookies in it Blush)

It's going to be hard to get into again. I just booked a beachy holiday in June though so I have some extra motivation.

How long is it until your wedding triangular?

SmellTheGlove · 19/02/2017 18:40

notso the cake is just a basic 4 egg sponge but with light brown sugar instead of caster. The icing is this
bakeplaysmile.com/how-to-make-salted-caramel-frosting/
I kept some of the salted caramel sauce to drizzle on the top of the cake and made the rest into icing to fill it with. Actually discovering how easy that sauce was to make is a BAD thing!!!

MillieMoodle · 19/02/2017 18:40

Weighed in this morning and still at 11st 7lbs. So at least haven't gained anything.

Tea, actimel and cornflakes for breakfast. Sausage roll, monster munch and a snack size wispa for lunch. Roast chicken and veg for dinner. No snacks so far but lunch was way more calories than I was expecting. There were 600 in the sausage roll! Madness!

Wench don't be disheartened, you're doing great and you can do this! I feel the same, if I'd just kept up with it all properly since Christmas, I could have lost another 1/2 stone I think, then I'd be so much closer to my goal.

Smell I'm the same, I really love food and I hate feeling like I'm depriving myself of stuff. I'm trying to tell myself that really it's just junk and I don't need to eat it.

Well done on the loss triangular, that's brilliant!

Notso your DD sounds fab!

Happy well done for staying the same, it's not easy especially if you've had a more relaxed week.

Welcome back Ice!

Have got swimming with DS2 tomorrow morning and planning to go for a walk tomorrow afternoon. I really want to try and do my 10,000 steps every day this week. I usually average around 7.5k.

FireflyGirl · 19/02/2017 19:08

Hi all, sorry for being awol. My uncle has been taken back into hospital and we all don't know whether we're coming or going. Plus I've been job hunting and going for interviews.

Well done on the losses everyone. I can't scroll back on my phone to reply to everyone individually, but you look amazing in your dress triangular.

Hang in there wench - you've lost over a stone in less than 4 months - that's a fantastic achievement.

B: paprika oatcakes
L : homemade tapas (grilled veggies, salad, falafel, hummous, Patatas bravas, beetroot with feta, bread with oil and balsamic vinegar)
S: haribo fizzy dummies
T : Chicken quesidillas

I lost 1/2lb last week and stayed the same this week, but I've had nights out drinking both weeks so not unexpected.

Nothing planned this week, so I want to lose a lb which will get me to my first interim target for this year and my first reward Grin

Welcome back Firefly and Ice! I have eaten a LOT of calories today but I feel like I have got some motivation back so hopeful for a healthy week. Ice the wedding is 4 weeks away Confused

Bibs2014 · 19/02/2017 22:30

I'm literally getting fatter by the day. I've got to stop eating!!!

Cutting out crisps and chocolate again from tomorrow. That really worked for me in January.

SmellTheGlove · 20/02/2017 07:30

Put on a pound overnight poss due to suddenly getting my period. Think I might be perimenopausal my cycle is getting shorter and shorter... sorry off topic and probably TMI!

Bibs2014 · 20/02/2017 08:22

Starting again - again - today!!

Fruit and fibre for breakfast with skimmed milk, noodles for lunch, chicken for dinner, fruit and yoghurt.

Wenchelda · 20/02/2017 11:59

I'm starting again again, again, again today. Did 5k on my exercise bike first thing. Breakfast was tea with 1 grilled bacon rasher, 2 hard boiled eggs, mushrooms & tomato. Just had an early lunch of ham salad baguette and latte. Got 580 cals left for rest of day so I think that should be doable < hopeful >

Notsoskinnyminny · 20/02/2017 12:27

Welcome back ice and firefly

Another overnight pound for me so I'm back to 9st 6 Angry I'm off today so I've gone through the freezers and meals have been planned for the rest of the week but its DHs birthday at the weekend and he wants chinese - arghh I can't resist prawn crackers and we'll order too many starters and then I can't leave food. I'm hoping that his DCs will want to come, even if it means putting up with DSDs devil children, and we'll have to go somewhere child friendly and less calorific and if I take his cake with us there won't be any leftovers.

No breakfast - I was falling back into the buttery toast habit - and just had baked fish and roasted veg, strawberries and greek yoghurt and it'll be lamb steak, more veg and sweet potato for dinner. I was planning to take the diva for a long walk but she won't go out when its raining Grin

FireflyGirl · 20/02/2017 13:25

Notso my sister's dog is like that, a right princess! He's a boy...

My uncle passed away in hospital this morning. Was a bit of a shock. It's also made worse by the fact that he still lived in the house where my Nana lived and where I spent a lot of the school holidays and weekends growing up, so I was still clinging on to a bit of her through him. I put on 2 stone after she passed away from emotional eating. I'm determined not to do that again, but I am already sat here thinking of things to eat to make me feel better - and I have no inclination to cook anything healthy for tea Sad . I just need to remember that it actually didn't make me feel any better!

And DS should have had a nap at 10.30 but is still awake and singing to himself in his bedroom (He hasn't been in there the whole time, I'm not that mean, just the last half hour or so). But hoping feeding him will inspire me to not just order takeaway for tea.

I will not undo all the hard work I have put in over the last 4 months!!

SmellTheGlove · 21/02/2017 07:29

So sorry firefly . It's very hard to think about losing weight when life is not going well I find. Perhaps you could up your calories so you maintain and include a few treats? And go and buy a few healthy ready meals or easy things to cook so you don't have to think about cooking from scratch? Take care Flowers

Bibs2014 · 21/02/2017 15:12

Hope you're feeling ok today firefly.

I'm trying here 😃

Slice of toast that DS didn't want with Nutella, fruit
Homemade burger no bun, chips and salad
Dinner is chicken curry and brown rice
Fruit to snack on.
