Cool Speedy Well, once I got the Peak one of Nell, I think I have all her's aswell She "only" has the 3 out, right? I really do like Nell's, they are so tough and I doubt I will ever get to a fitness level where I will find them easy, lol....!
Also bidding on the Charlie Brooks one and the Tae bo everybody get ripped...am hoping that it is a different ne to the get ripped one, lol...if not, I shall sell it again!
Definately agree wiht teh variety is the spice of life...I find different moods require different workouts.
Also, I find Nell's I can only do in the morning, if I attempt them in the afternoon I tend to need to pee, lol!
Anyways, am rambling as usual!
Will try to do one of those 10Best Fitness ones this afternoon...think that is the best way to do it, I shall do a good workout in the morning, so, if the one in the afternoon isn't so hard, then it doesn't matter

laloop · 04/06/2007 11:32

Morning girls

Taking it easy today. Might do a quick blast of Davina (upper body) if I get the chance before the school run.

Really enjoying reading the DVD reviews on the other thread. I only have Davina at the moment but once I get the TaeBo set I'll add my comments (so much for express delivery from Amazon, I'm still waiting!).

Back on the healthy eating as well. Haven't been to Weightwatchers in about 3 weeks and getting bored and complacent with their diet plan so have switched to following Slimming World plan at home for next few weeks. SW was highly recommended by a friend who has had good results, will let you all know how I get on

Happy exercising

3andnomore · 04/06/2007 12:36

Can't believe you still haven't received the Tae Bo DVD's, that is dreadful....I hope you won't have to pay for express delivery now, seeing that there isn't much express about it!
I didn't go to WW last week, because well...for many reasons...but tomorrow I got to go...although I know I must have put a few pounds on in just like 2 weeks, sigh.....because my belt is back in hole 3, rather then 4....yuk!
Did SW a few years ago and really liked it...however, it is similar to WW COreplan, in a way...but gives you more freedom in some ways and less in others, I suppose, lol!
Saying that, if there was a local SW group, I think I would have gone there again, rather then WW!
Gave myself another challenge before dh went back to Afghanistan...before he went originally I had told him I would be 10st the next time he saw me, and I had just reached that goal before he came back...I now told him I would be 9st next time he sees me, lol! NO idea how makeable that will be, me and my big mouth, lol!
Well, laloop, really hope that those DVD's are arriving soon!

laloop · 04/06/2007 12:54

3anm, just checked the Amazon delivery e-mail, they won't be in stock until the 27th June at the earliest So much for the "express" as you say! Was really looking forward to doing them too, will have to be patient

What height are you 3anm? Is 9 stone achievable for your height without feeling that you're starving yourself? If so, we'll help keep you on the straight and narrow

I'm only on day 3 of Slimming World plan but it seems sensible and varied and I like the way you can switch between the emphasis on protein or carbs for the free foods and bulk them out with lots of fruit, veg and healthy extras. Doesn't really seem like a diet so far so here's hoping!

laloop · 04/06/2007 13:19

Was just thinking that the Tae Bo DVDs are maybe sold out after all the rave reviews they've been getting on MN You and speedy will have to work out some form of commission from Billy! Can't wait to see Marge the nimble septuagenerian lol.

Biglips · 05/06/2007 00:40

hello everyone!....not been on here for a while. not been to the gym lately as ive canx my monthly membership as i was never there as probs is no creche at the gym.. My daughter will be at her preschool in october this year so ill have more time in the mornings.

BUT!!!!......

i want to take up running.......ive got running trainers...is my shock absorbers bra is ok for running?.....i need some advice please? thanks

OrmIrian · 05/06/2007 08:01

Hi Biglips,

I did the same. I stopped going to the gym because I couldn't justify the cost when I wasn't able to go that often, I could only got at times when the gym was packed so I had to wait for everything and I couldn't go early in the morning which fitted in with the rest of my family. And I took up running.

What do you need to do?.... find a shortish route that you think you might be able to acheive - you feel much better if you actually manage to run all of it, so don't be too ambitious to start with. If you think you will be self-conscious, try to go at a time when there won't be too many people about (I was ...and just go for it. Shoes are important but you have those. I think that shock absorber is fine but not sure....I have no idea what mine is as I've had it for years. There are loads of expert on here who will give you much more sensible advice.

speedymama · 05/06/2007 08:34

Hi everyone

Biglips, I echo what Ormrian just said. Start with a short route and go at a time when you feel comfortable. Also, buy proper running shoes, preferably from a running shop as this will definitely reduce unnecessary injuries and strains on your joints. If you are not very good at running, start by doing a walk jog routine where you walk for 3 minutes and jog for 1 minute. As you get better, shorten the walks and lengthen the time you run. In no time at all, you will be running without walking. Also, don't be too ambitious when you start or you will become disheartened and lose motivation. Start slowly and as you become fitter, the speed and faster pace will naturally increase. Just take your time and enjoy it. If in doubt, just remember to keep telling yourself
put one foot in front of the other and keep going

speedymama · 05/06/2007 08:42

The Ultimate Challenge dvd by Nell McAndrew, as recommended by 3andnomore, arrived today. As I have to go to work, I just did 25 minutes. I did the Part 2 work out up until the bail out sign and then did the ab workout in part 3 as well as some of the upper body work out with weights. It is indeed a challenging workout because I was sweating after just 5 minutes.

I finished off by doing the 8 minute Taebo work out from Everybody Get Ripped. I just have to get my regular dose of Billy Blank!

Hope you all have a good workout today. Just in case you need motivating, Billy Blank just wants to say

Give me some energy
Get moving
All the way across the centre line
I can't hear you
Touch my hand girl
Two more sets, just two more sets
I can't hear you counting
I got eyes in the back of my head, you'll
Work it, work it

OrmIrian · 05/06/2007 14:09

Going to have a look at my new Tai Chi class tonight. Being arranged by the local college I'm not allowed to join in as and when but will have to wait until September when the new terms starts But I am very curious.

Managing 2 runs a week so far and nearly nearly up to 2 miles Ankle still well and happy.

3andnomore · 05/06/2007 15:50

Laloop...surely they won't charge extra for express delivery then, will they...or else, I think until a order has been dispatched you can still change the details, etc...! And my offer on the Tae BO Energise/Active still stands, btw....!
Well, maybe speedy and I should be asking Billy for Commission ;)
Looked the other week on his website and they are doing those bootcamp sort of courses, I assume to become a instructor or somehting, looked really good...shame I will never be able to afford that Or by the time I can I will be as old as Marge, lol!
Speedy, lol at your Billy Impression there...down to a T
Oh, and in Workout 2 on the Ultimate challenge I think there are 4 Bail out times....so, you can imagine how long the section is...alhtough, think it's as long as the Maximum Impact Interval Section, but it feels and probably is so much tougher.
Hopefully I get the Peak energy one tomorrow, and the Fit club one etc...!
Did one the 10 Best Fitness DVD's...but if that one is the standard, then there isn't much hope, lol....although of the Fat Burners workout the 2. workout is o.k. enough, but the clothes, hair and make up make you rofl!
This morning I was feeling a bit lethargic, so, did my Beverly Callard DVD, which still gives you a workout wihtout being to strainious (?)!
My ww meet up went as I expected, I have put on 3 1/2 Ibs, hohum, not to devastated, tbh, aslong as I don't put anymore then that on and just stay the same whilest my mum is still here...
As for 9st being achievable...I am 5'6 so, 9st is at the lower range for my height, but I used to be less then that, and that was after 1 child, and with me it's defiantely not so much about the eating but more my activity levels...back then I lived in Cyprus, and was swimming loads and the rest of the time was spend in the stables, riding or mucking out, etc...or clubbing (which means lots of dancing)....

3andnomore · 05/06/2007 15:51

Oh Orm, Tai Chi sounds interesting, so, let us know how you feel about it after you watched them

speedymama · 05/06/2007 16:07

I have the Fit Club video and it is very different from most of the others because it is Harvey Walden doing his no nonense routine.

The first time I did it I thought boring but that was because he does not use modern pumping dance music. The only music is this military tune and it is very much in the background.

I now like it because it is exercise stripped down to the basics with no fancy thrills. He does things like marching on the spot, squat thrust, jumping jacks, twists etc. There are three sections as well as the obligatory warm up and cool down sections so you can bail out when you feel you have done enough.

As you can expect from a hardcore trainer from the US Marines, the work out gets your heart pumping.
Hope you enjoy it.

I will post this review on the exercise DVD review thread.

laloop · 05/06/2007 16:15

Hi everyone

No exercise for me today but I did go for a walk last night (couple of miles or so). Might do something later if I have the energy.

OrMirian, glad your ankle seems to have healed, 2 runs already this week - GO girl Let us know what you think of the Tai Chi class.

Speedy and 3anm, loving the DVD reviews and Billy peptalks
3anm - if you don't mind, it would be great to borrow your DVD until I get mine, I'll cover postage costs etc. Do you want me to e-mail you (I don't have CAT as yet)? Thanks

Biglips, ditto the advice from Orm and speedy about starting running. Short route to begin with, and alternate walking and running until you can do a continuous run/jog. BUPA have a good running guide that can be downloaded from here

Sweetheart, are you back from hols yet, hope you had a great time!

Biglips · 05/06/2007 16:16

so is the shock absorber bra is suitable for running?

OrmIrian · 05/06/2007 16:27

I don't see why not biglips. They all do more or less the same job don't they - increased vertical and horizontal hold

3andnomore · 05/06/2007 16:31

laloop, will E-mail you!
In the meantime, however, I cam across this, and thought I let you know about this superb offer of it:
link....like I said, you can always cancel with Amazon, especially if they don't have things in stock!

3andnomore · 05/06/2007 16:32

duh, you said if I want you to E-mail me...that happens when Kids are going mental around me, lol!
my E-mail is:
[email protected]

laloop · 05/06/2007 16:33

Shockabsorber bra should be ok, Biglips - you got the same one as me I think from TKmaxx (the bright pink one?), I've worn mine out running and was fine.

laloop · 05/06/2007 16:34

Thanks for link, 3anm. Will check it out now.

laloop · 05/06/2007 16:45

OK, have just cancelled order from Amazon and re-ordered Tae Bo set from that other company, 3anm - so you have saved me a few £'s - thanks Estimated despatch date is tomorrow so here's hoping they'll arrive soon (if not, I will e-mail you about borrowing your one!)

3andnomore · 05/06/2007 17:08

hopefully this one will arrive earlier...twas over Amazon kind off anyway, wasn't it...only a private seller...got myself some more cheapo DVD's, too...just can't have enough of them, lol!

3andnomore · 05/06/2007 17:09

OH, and if it still takes to long, then E-mail me for the Tae BO DVD

Biglips · 05/06/2007 18:38

ive got the Tae bo - Billy Blanks (an old one).....flipping brilliant but its a video that i havent got anymore.... it really get you out of breath and make sure you dont knock any vase off the mantlepiece

speedymama · 06/06/2007 09:02

3andnomore, you should not have posted that link! I have already seen 6 dvds that I want to buy. Ahhh! Surely I must have enough now (over 24) but variety is the spice of life.
