Hi there. Finally weighed myself yesterday after being away and was really pleased to see that I'm down 1.5 pounds from a fortnight ago. I still have company staying with me, so don't expect to loose much in the coming week, but all of my walking over Christmas (and not drinking half as much as usual) must have kept things under control.

aurorie11 · 04/01/2017 21:17

Hi Fairy Smile I gained 3lbs over Christmas, complete run of entertaining and being entertained, including 5 days of homemade puddings!
Back on it to normal eating, hope to lose the gain soon

LaundryFairy · 07/01/2017 17:39

Hi Aurorie, I'm sure your normal eating and walking routine will have you back where you were soon. I've been thinking a bit about how I have to be making these changes stick, and part of that will be how I deal with holidays, staying at friends etc. when my weight will probably go up on occasion. I want to be able to just say 'well, that's fine - just a short bit of indulgence and now back to my usual ways' but I'm actually quite scared that I'll go into one of those indulgent times and never want to come out of it. Or something will hit that is hard to cope with emotionally, and I'll go back to eating for comfort. I think that this time, while I'm actively focussed on loosing weight is, in some ways, much easier than the many years ahead of really trying to maintain good habits.

aurorie11 · 07/01/2017 18:51

Thanks Fairy, I've lost all but 0.5lb of the Christmas gain. Lunches were a disaster as I have soup and didn't fit with entertaining

LaundryFairy · 09/01/2017 14:30

Hi Aurorie, I've lost 4 pounds this week but I really wouldn't recommed the method: it was the Extreme Pain Toothache Diet, where I couldn't eat anything for one day and only very soft food for the next. Hopefully will be back to a more sensible (and less hellish) rate of weight loss this week.

aurorie11 · 14/01/2017 13:17

Hi Fairy, 2lbs down this week to 11 stone. Hopefully in the 10 something next week. Saw loads of people this week who not seen in ages, several said I looked fantastic Grin

LaundryFairy · 14/01/2017 13:39

Hi Aurorie, well done - that is fantastic that you have come so far. I had a couple of really nice comments yesterday too from people I haven't seen for a year. It can be a nice motivator to keep going, can't it. I still have a ways to go yet, but it's nice to know that people think I look so much healthier now. I'm booked in for an NHS Health Check on Monday, and I'll be interested to hear their advice on how much more I should aim to loose.

aurorie11 · 14/01/2017 22:26

Hi Fairy, so you are down nearly 4.5 stone? fantastic! How much more do you think you want to loose?

LaundryFairy · 15/01/2017 09:05

Hi Aurorie, yes, just over 4.5 stone including another 3 pounds down this week. I'm officially no longer obese! I think another 1.5 - 2 stone is what I still need to loose. Even then I will be a size 14-16, so not exactly wasting away... You are almost at your target now, aren't you - how are you feeling about moving into maintenance after a lot of time trying to loose weight?

aurorie11 · 15/01/2017 11:27

Hi Fairy, no not at target. Still need to loose about the same as you have to go

LaundryFairy · 15/01/2017 15:15

Ah, my mistake. According to the NHS website, I need to loose another 30 lbs to be at the top of my acceptable weight brackets, so just over 2 stone.

LaundryFairy · 22/01/2017 09:14

Hi there, down 1.75 pounds this week, so not bad. I had my NHS health check this week and they told me I had a 'heart age' 2 years younger than my actual age, which was really nice to hear and certainly wouldn't have been the case a year ago!

aurorie11 · 24/01/2017 20:25

Well done Fairy! I've maintained, to be honest, January has been difficult work wise and my exercise is well down and I've had Hobson's choice about lunch most days. So overall I'm happy

LaundryFairy · 25/01/2017 14:25

If you're able to maintain your weight during stressful times, then I reckon you're doing brilliantly, aurorie. This is about the long haul, really isn't it - not just loosing weight in the short term but knowing how to live healthily long term, even when it's not as easy.

I've treated myself today by buying an LK Bennett dress in the sale (reduced 60%!) that is just a bit too tight for me but which I fully intend to be able to wear to a wedding at Easter time. Felt bloody marvellous trying it on and seeing how it looked!

LaundryFairy · 29/01/2017 07:16

I'm 2.5 pounds down this week - very pleased with that as last week was a bit slower and I was wondering if things were heading for a plateau. Still aiming to loose another 1 stone 2 pounds, which should bring me into a comfortable size 16. I know that many would still consider that to be 'fat', but for my age and frame, it looks good. It will also mean a total weight loss goal of 6 stone.

EllenAshSky1 · 31/01/2017 09:44

Hi Ellen, of course you are more than welcome, but I feel I should warn you that the number of posters on this thread has seriously dwindled. You might prefer to look at one of the other more active weight loss upoirt threads that are ongoing. But if you are happy here, by all means join me (and pretty much only me and sometimes Aurorie)!

aurorie11 · 04/02/2017 12:35

Hi Fairy, how's it going this week. I've had another maintenance week, got to get on it big time!

LaundryFairy · 05/02/2017 07:30

Hi Aurorie, I've had a pretty good week- down 3.5 pounds. That brings me to a total loss now of 5 stone 2 pounds. I haven't had a problem with plateauing yet, and I'm thinking that it might be down to the strength training at the gym, which (I hope) is building some muscle strength back. I was so week when I started all of this, I've probably only just begun to reach the levels that most people are at day to day, but it does feel good to be bringing my body back to life. I want to finish loosing my 6th stone and then see how I feel then. I'll still be technically 'overweight' but I might be just fine with that!

LaundryFairy · 05/02/2017 07:30

*or I might have been weak!

LaundryFairy · 12/02/2017 07:30

hi Aurorie, I'm down another 2.5 pounds this week, so I'm happy with that. Saw a friend yesterday that I haven't seen since I'd started the weight loss . She was quite startled by the change but very supportive and helpful with tips about clothes shopping. People's reactions are so different, and I've been a bit surprised by some of them (both good and bad).

aurorie11 · 12/02/2017 20:40

Congratulations Fairy, you are my inspiration. I need to refocus, I think getting into size 14 clothes has made me a bit complacent, but maintenance is still a positive.
How much more to target for you?

LaundryFairy · 14/02/2017 14:08

Hi Aurorie. If I could fit into a size 14 I'd be done! I need to loose between 10 pounds (if I just want to get comfortably into a size 16) and 20 pounds (if I want to be within NHS guidelines for my height). So I'm going for 10 more and then see if I feel like carrying on. There are a few more treats around this week as it's half term (and Valentine's Day today) so I may not be quite as successful as previous weeks. DS and I were due to start the couch to 5k this week, but he is in bed ill, so that will have to wait. Shame, as I was counting on it to counteract the effects of chocolates!

LaundryFairy · 19/02/2017 09:27

No real change this week - I'm not surprised given the 3 pieces of cake, wine, and three meals out over half term. I need to get back on track this week if I'm going to finish this.

LaundryFairy · 26/02/2017 11:29

I think I must have been half asleep last week as my scales tell me that I've lost 5 pounds in the last week which seems rather implausible.
