Great news LaundryFairy

Ihateseagulls · 30/10/2016 21:19

by some miracle I lost 2 lbs this week, despite getting my period and scoffing chocolates. I need to be very good this week, going away next weekend and I think there will be wine and pizza involved. I'll have to do lots of walking! Grin

MercuryRising · 31/10/2016 09:31

Heres to a fantastic week ladies! We can do it!

aurorie11 · 05/11/2016 21:25

2lbs off in total, 29lbs in total = achieved first interim target.
Next target another 9lbs and I become overweight and not obese - the perils of being short!

LaundryFairy · 06/11/2016 16:12

Well done aurorie! I have a similar first goal, but I'm still 24 pounds away from not being obese and just overweight. At least I've left 'morbidly obese' far behind me.

I just lost 1 pound this week. Seems to be a pattern for me - I'll have 2 - 2 1/2 pound off one week and then just 1 the next. And there seems to be no correlation with the food I've eaten or exercise I've done. I guess I just have to be content with average progress.

aurorie11 · 06/11/2016 21:02

Thanks LaundryFairy, your weight loss will give you at least half a stone a month. Like me, I guess its the realisation you are in this for the long run. I'd like to meet my final target by the end of May

Lubilu28 · 08/11/2016 09:33

Can I join in with u?? I want to lose 3 stone of baby weight, I've been dieting for the past 3 weeks. I lost 5.5lbs in the first week and only 1/4 of a lb in the last 2 weeks!! I've been exercising more than usual, doing davina fit in 15 4 days a week, swimming twice a week and trying to get out for a walk almost every other day! I'm using my fitness pal to log my calories and I'm always under my goal of 1500 but it just doesn't seem to be shifting. I'm probably just being to impatient and expecting massive results too quickly but I have done this before and it used to just drop off me but since having my baby (8 months ago) it just seems like it's never gonna shift!! X

aurorie11 · 08/11/2016 20:51

All welcome Lubilu Smile just remember you are almost half a stone down in a month

Lubilu28 · 08/11/2016 21:17

Thanks aurorie11! I guess I just keep looking at that 1/4 of a lb in 2 weeks and thinking how rubbish I've done which is really discouraging I forget about the 5.5lbs 🙈!! Well I will be extra good this week and see what happens! Even just 1lb will make me happy 😊

2lbs more off, 31lbs in total. Now 11-11

LaundryFairy · 13/11/2016 07:31

Can't quite believe it, but I'm 4 pounds down this week, bringing me to a total of 3 stone lost since I started in July. It has given me a boost after loosing only 1 pound last week. Overall, I've averaged 2 lbs down a week and I'm really pleased about that.

People have started telling me I 'look well' which seems to be the standard euphemism for 'my god - have you lost weight?' To be honest, I find it a bit embarrassing, and usually mutter a short thanks and try to change the subject.

aurorie11 · 13/11/2016 08:23

Well done Laundry Fairy, how much more to you want to loose?

LaundryFairy · 13/11/2016 08:58

Thanks, Aurorie. Well done to you too!

According to the NHS guidelines, I need to loose another 3.5 stone to be within a 'healthy weight'. But to be honest, I look quite good when I'm still technically 'overweight' and about a size 14-16. I know that many people joke about being 'big boned' but I actually do have quite a large frame and I carry my weight very evenly over my body, so most people tend to assume I'm lighter / fitter than I am. So I would like to loose at least 2.5 stone more and then see how I'm feeling.

Ihateseagulls · 13/11/2016 22:10

Wow, Aurorie and LaundryFairy, great weight losses, I haven't been brave enough to weigh myself this week - will try tomorrow, think it is best to know the damage and move on

Hope everyone has a good week

aurorie11 · 19/11/2016 18:02

Another 3lbs off this week, now 11-8.
Total loss 2st 6lb
Would like to hit 11 stone by Christmas

LaundryFairy · 20/11/2016 07:18

Snap Aurorie! 3 lbs off for me too this week. Well done us! It does keep you motivated when you see clear changes, doesn't it. I'm hoping for another 5 lbs off before Christmas (have a few social things to go to so trying to be realistic). Do you mind me asking what approach you are taking to your weight loss? I'm doing the old eat less (a lot less) / get exercise approach.

aurorie11 · 20/11/2016 07:49

Hi Fairy

Its been rethinking my attitude to food and activity. Including not seeing food as a reward.

I had 5 stone to loose and not nearly half way there, I knew I was in in for the long haul so its got to be sustainable (I reckon another 4-5 months to shift it all and then a lifetime to keep it off).

I've updated my activity, and bought a fitbit and aim to do an absolute minimum of 10k steps a day but really want to do 15k. Work is sedentary, so I try and make myself take a break and walk for 30-45 minutes at lunch time. Last week was disasterous in terms of exercise for a variety of work reasons, but just accept that was the way it was and don't see it as a set back.
Avoid using the car for short journeys.

Because I know how many calories I'm burning, I aim to eat 1,000 less than I burn. I don't track calorie consumption but keep a running total in my head.

On food, its about making health and sustainable choices; I make choices not to consume ABC:
A = Alcohol, not had many but not a big drinker anyway and alcohol makes me want to eat
B = Bread and Biscuits. I limit the bread I eat, probably a slice a week, and have soup or salad for lunch. No biscuits.
C = Chocolate, Crisps and Cheese. I've had a couple of small nibbles but lost my taste for chocolate. Crisps still bit of a downfall, but only 1 or 2 per week. Cheese. yes dairy is good but calorific, so limit cheese.

After that its eat what I like but look at choices and quantity. I remember my Mum being on fad diets (remember, Limit diet chocolate biscuits??), I have a young daughter and don't want her having my issues with food/ weight. So I eat what the family eat, e.g. kids wanted fish and chip takeaway last night, I had some too, but shared fish with child and had a handful of chips. I was still 1,000 calories down yesterday.

LaundryFairy · 20/11/2016 14:15

I know what you mean about changing how I think about food. For me it has been about trying not to use it as an emotional crutch (as I have all my life). I've tried to be more structured about when I eat - 3 meals with no snacking - and also eating much more healthily by cutting out most sweet foods. Like you, I'm not excluding food groups and I'll eat what what the family eats, but maybe have less of some items.

As for exercise, I'm dead impressed with your regime! I'm not nearly as organised, but I have joined a very low-key, women's only gym where I do 30 min o PDF strength training 3 times a week. Otherwise, I try to go out for a brisk walk (partly uphill) on days when I don't go to the gym. I'm not in peak fitness by any stretch of the imagination, but I've come so far from where I was when I began in July.

LaundryFairy · 20/11/2016 14:16
  • of Strength training - no idea where the PDF came from!
aurorie11 · 26/11/2016 08:49

Only 1lb down this week, so exactly 2.5 stone in 13 weeks. Bit disappointed as good with calories and steps up this week. But still a loss. Aiming for another half stone by Christmas Eve (4 weeks!!)

LaundryFairy · 26/11/2016 12:27

You're doing really well, Aurorie - that's over half a stone you've lost in the last 4 weeks! At that rate I'm sure you'll make your Christmas goal. I'll weigh myself tomorrow morning to see how I've got on.

I'm off to the cinema this afternoon - we seem to be going a lot these days - and it has been a real challenge for me to break the snacking habit of a lifetime and not to stuff chocolate down for 2 hours!

aurorie11 · 26/11/2016 15:32

Thanks Fairy, what film did you see?

LaundryFairy · 26/11/2016 18:17

We went to see Your Name - a Japanese anime film. Very good, and DS (age 13) especially loved it. He's quite the film fan, so we go to anything good and age appropriate. His top 5 for the year so far are: When Marnie Was There (more Japanese anime), Sing Street, Hunt for the Wilderpeole, Your Name and Arrival.

LaundryFairy · 27/11/2016 08:51

1.75 pounds down this week - 47 down altogether since I started. Would really like to loose another 5-6 before Christmas is possible.
