New week, new thread.

Congratulations Flutterbee - but OMG Sue. That's amazing. Not sure I fancy the Raw Bacon diet, but glad it worked for you (actually, I would be hard put to eat any of that, so it would probably work for me too). How fab to have such a positive side effect from such a difficult time.

JackieNo · 02/02/2007 11:55

WWB - are you OK? Anything I can do?

I'm having real problems with MN this morning at work - it's taking 3-4 minutes to load each page, so I think my IT department are trying to tell me something...

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 11:55

All I have to do now is keep it off and keep going slowly but steadily. It was really down to how uninterested I was in food on the whole as I ate choclate when I wanted to, butter, full fat mayo (in fact full fat everything as they didn;t have anything low fat except diet coke).

But I rarely ate between meals and that made a big difference I think.

Can;t quite beleive it myself.

WigWamBam · 02/02/2007 12:29

Jackie, I'm OK - just a really bad morning.

I fell over on the way to school this morning (not even icy, believe it or not!), had to go and have some blood tests which the woman botched up so my arm looks like a pin cushion. She got the nurse to come and have a look at me because I was so sore from falling, and the nurse thinks I've cracked a rib (as well as bruises everywhere and grazed knees like a schoolgirl). It's bloody painful, whatever it is.

I decided to catch the train home rather than walk because I was still feeling very shaky, it's only one stop and as I was getting off the ticket inspectors asked to see my ticket and I couldn't find it - so they gave me a £20 penalty (I've since found my ticket but still have to pay the penalty then claim it back). The inspectors were really nice about it, but the guard on the train was really rude and made me cry . They took my name and address, which they have to check is genuine before they issue the ticket, and when they phoned through to check it the woman reckoned I didn't exist at this address so of course they thought I had given a false name - eventually she realised that dh was listed and (amazingly enough) has the same surname, but I was just so embarrassed and upset by it.

And I've come home to find the cat has been sick all over the lounge carpet, and I am just about to throw myself in a big heap on the floor and cry.

OP posts:
JackieNo · 02/02/2007 12:40

Oh WWB . You poor thing. What a crappy morning. Just don't throw yourself on the floor where the cat sick is, OK .

Can you go and have a warm shower (or bath? or would that be too painful with the rib)? Any arnica you could take? Supposed to be good for bumps and bruises. I'd {{hug}} you, but it would probably hurt.

WigWamBam · 02/02/2007 12:50

I cleaned up after the cat first ... I'm daft but I'm not that daft!

I'm going to go and have a bath, I think - sitting still has made everything stiffen up, and suddenly I can feel that I've pulled muscles across the front of my shoulders and down my side. I might sling myself in a bath and see whether the warm water eases things a bit.

Have just spoken to dh who wants to come home so he can fetch dd from school, but he's got so much on today that it's really not sensible. Would be lovely though - save me having to go limping out again, and spare my blushes as I have to walk past the same workmen who lifted me up from the pavement this morning!

OP posts:
JackieNo · 02/02/2007 13:00

Well even if you turn down his offer, it is nice to know he's worried about you enough to consider doing that. Hope the bath helps.

(And hopefully on a Friday afternoon, the workmen will have gone home early, so you may not have to go past them).

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 13:01

At least its the end of the week - tomorrow your DH won;t be working (will he?) and you can have a relaxed day.

swifterella · 02/02/2007 13:04

hi all-wwb you poor thing, what a day!! it can only get better x
well have lost 2lbs this week which i am happy with-just seems like such a long trek- am scoffing beans on toast and it lovely, could do with a sausage and egg to go with it!

Fauve · 02/02/2007 14:30

You poor thing, WWB - what a horrible day I hope you're feeling a bit better now - make sure you look after yourself. Since you're a regular MNer, could it have been the full moon throwing you off course? I personally think there's a hormonal angle to the moon's cycle which is not fully understood yet - hence full moon chaos and general breakdown in female world order.

Suejonez, what a spectacular weight loss!!! I'm off to Kazakhstan if that's what it does for you.

WigWamBam · 02/02/2007 15:03

I'm OK - stiff and sore, but hey ho. Just limping off to pick dd up ... avoiding eye-contact with the builders and hopefully not falling over any more kerbs on the way!

Could definitely be the influence of the moon and rhythmic cycles thereof ... I have seen the effect it has on my cat, and the elderly people my mother used to work with were always sent completely doo-lally by the full moon, so I definitely believe there's more to the moon's cycles than we know.

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 16:15

Fauve can give you the address of a fifth floor walk-up flat in Almaty to carry your shopping and baby up and down - its great exercise.

agalch · 02/02/2007 16:43

Well done Flutterbee!! And wow Sue... your clothes must be falling off you lol.

Have decided that 1/2lbs per week is plenty to be losing.I have 6 weeks to my first fitting for my dress so potentially i could lose another 10/12lbs so would be delighted with that

Have bought a lateral thigh trainer but as yet haven't been on it(arrived on Wednesday)but my mum has been ill againso will have a bash after i come back from Asda tonight.Going down to buy lots of healthy food so i am organised for the next week.Don't want to end up ordering takeaway cos theres nowt to eat.

Have a good night xx

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 17:06

I have said this before I went away but my doctor recommends weight loss of 1-2 lbs PER MONTH. ie your 0.5lb per week. He says it is the only way that people with a real weight problem will ever conquer it by making very small changes and losing very slowly.

agalch · 02/02/2007 17:34

Sue gosh haven't heard that before.Have to say i do have concerns that after the wedding i will slip back into snacking/binging.

Measured my waist and hips today and i have lost 2ins from my waist and 3 from my hips.

I can see me having to buy more jeans soon lol. Will be slimmer but skint at this rate

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 19:55

whats going on with you lot - not anywhere near enough ooh'ing and aah'ing over my loss! [sulky face]

PS congratulations flutterbee

WigWamBam · 02/02/2007 19:59

I gave you a round of applause, three cheers, a big fanfare, and put your name in lights. What more do you want??

Gah!

OP posts:
Fauve · 02/02/2007 20:25

You must need a whole new wardrobe, Suejonez, surely? I spy a fantastic shopping opportunity...

JackieNo · 02/02/2007 20:34

So sue - we've had French Women Don't Get Fat and Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat - you can do the Kazakh Women Eat Raw Bacon And Lose Weight book. Lovely though the story of you and Daniel is, I suspect the diet story would sell even quicker.

Dottydot · 02/02/2007 20:50

Sue!!!!!!!! That's brilliant!! What a star you are - you've been through so much over the past few months - I'm just so glad you've got your baby boy - and the weight loss must be a brilliant bonus!

WWB - I broke a rib 3 years ago (when ds1 was 12 weeks old - owww!). It bloody hurt for ages, so you have lots of sympathy from me. And why do lots of crap things all tend to happen at the same time? I'd have been crying as well re: the ticket - that's just the kind of thing that happens to me.

I've had a really good, positive eating day today. I'm 'tracking' this week, (counting up in WW points what I eat) which is something I haven't done before but I think is necessary at the moment! I've also walked up all the stairs at work, walked around town (and bought a handbag, Jackie!!!) and am going to do my aerobics video tonight, so am feeling pretty good! I reckon I can shift the 3lbs this week if I carry on. I'm back in the zone - hurrah!

JackieNo · 02/02/2007 20:52

Ooh what handbag did you get, Dottydot?

Dottydot · 02/02/2007 20:59

I found one in TKMax for £15 and it's the nicest I'd seen so I got it... Will aspire to get a Jane Shilton or Tula one one day..!!

MrsJohnCusack · 02/02/2007 21:00

I'm here - I'll ooh and ahh!
Well done sue - I think it is an excellent effort to lose so much weight as well as surviving such a stressful time. and probably tells us all a great deal about successful ways to lose weight.

HOw about a combined Daniel story and the Kazakh High Rise Boot Camp Diet?

and we had a much better night here - DD woke once at 10.15 (so before I'd even gone to bed), was settled in 15 minutes, and slept til 8am. I still woke once in the night to go to the loo but that inevitable at this stage. I feel like a new woman

MrsJohnCusack · 02/02/2007 21:07

oh look I lost the rest of my post
wanted to send sympathy to WWB. What a crappy day. (Your DH sounds lovely though)

Have never cracked a rib but I've heard it hurts - poor thing, and I'd have cried at the whole train thing as well. When I had blood tests in October, the woman hit a nerve and my god did it hurt - had a whacking great bump for ages and to be honest my arm still aches a bit if I lift it up. Which is not interesting to you, but my clumsy way of trying to offer some sympathy.

Cats always seem to finish things off as well don't they - mine always used to save their worst for when things were already going wrong.

JackieNo · 02/02/2007 21:14

Mrs JC - so glad it seems to be working - long may it continue.

Dottydot - doesn't have to be expensive to be lovely - my current handbag was £19 from M&S.
