Who's up for the 7lbs in September challenge?

ponygirlcurtis · 01/09/2016 08:32

Following on from June, July and August's threads, we're aiming to lose 7lbs.
(Posting as Rshard is still on holiday - hope you had a great time!)

All regimes welcome. Support and encouragement guaranteed!

My starting weight for September is 11st 5.25lbs. (I actually ended yesterday at 6.5lbs but the scales have jumped down again so I am having it!). That means I lost 5lbs in August. I found having this thread helped my focus and determination, if it helps anyone else, fantastic! Smile

Good luck everyone!

Pikachu - that sounds brilliant!

I've just totally fudged dinner by making a simple pasta meal with a sauce (involving cream). Turns out there were 467 calories in just the cream alone.

Teeny weeny bowl of pasta. 1000 calories. Don't even feel full Sad

PikachuSayBoo · 03/09/2016 18:22

Cream can't be all bad. JoE wicks has a lot of recipes with cream in. But then I think he says its a fat and meant to make you feel full. So pants if hasn't worked for you. Drink a pint of water! Grin

I'm a bit disheartened by the "be in deficit of 500 calories a day" to lose 1lb. Sounds like a big deficit every day for not much loss. Guess this why they say weight loss needs to be slow and steady!

CarrieLouise25 · 03/09/2016 18:44

I wondered if anyone was watching thebodycoach!

It's very disheartening. Have just done flat out cycling for half hour and burnt around 250 calories. Am puffing like a train.

Yet I can eat 500 calories in 10 seconds flat.

Calorie cutting has to be done with exercise to build muscle and to lose the fat, or I think you just lose both. So minus your 250 for food and 250 for exercise not as bad as cutting 500 just food.

But I agree, 1lb a week is sooooo slow...

NapQueen · 03/09/2016 18:49

Can I join? The overall plan is 52lb in 52 weeks as I am rather overweight after 2 kids and a desk job for the last 5 years.

I will weigh shortly (currently sat in a kids cuddle), but hope the 7lb over the month loss is achievable.

I don't eat crap I just don't move much and don't drink enough water. I like a free glasses of wine a week and my portion size is to pot. I know what I need to address. I have little to no motivation.

I hate seeing photos of myself.

BitOutOfPractice · 03/09/2016 18:50

There is nothing more disappointing in life than eating a meal and then finding out it was really calorific.

CarrieLouise25 · 03/09/2016 19:06

BitOutOfPractice - absolutely! Especially when you had your eye on a glass of wine later on Grin

NapQueen - in same boat as sit at a desk all day. Hate mirrors and photos of myself. Or going swimming.

Bought a pedometer and realised just how little I move during the day (even though I feel like I run around all day!)

Good luck with your plan. Hope you can find the motivation here Smile

summerblonde · 03/09/2016 19:08

I am in! I have piled it on over the summer.

MegBusset · 03/09/2016 20:48

How's everyone doing on Saturday night? I have been very good and stuck to my calories despite the temptations of a family pub lunch (had baked potato and beans while everyone else had chips) and Saturday night booze (said no and had water instead 😱)

seekingthesunlight · 03/09/2016 22:30

Had something of a blowout today (damn you full English breakfast and Nutella muffins!) Grin Never mind. At least I'll have more motivation to make tomorrow count!

PlumFairy2014 · 03/09/2016 22:42

Well done Meg!
Also had a tiny blow out here seekingthesunlight, damn you Ben and Jerry... Did well all day and still no booze (for a whole 3 days so far...)

BitOutOfPractice · 03/09/2016 23:32

I've come in under 1200 calories for the day, doubled my step target and been to the gym. I'm feeling smug Grin

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 03/09/2016 23:42

Can I join in? I lost a couple of stone last year finally hitting ye mythical 11st-something briefly before Christmas but returning to work after mat leave and I've piled most of it back on. So as of 1 September I was 13st3.75 and I'd love to be 1.5st down again by Christmas this year... Mixture of 16:8, MFP and lots of running (half marathon training) did it for me last time. I'm back on the wagon with the first two but need to find motivation again to ecercise!

MsHeffalump · 04/09/2016 01:09

I suspect by everyone else's standards my evening was a disaster. Pub then party. Seven half litre bottles of cider consumed, and a big bag of Walkers sensations to soak it up afterwards. I'm not stressing though; my goal is to eat like a normal person (whatever one of those is). And for a rare night out on the piss, slightly too much booze followed by a bit of rubbish to soak it up is perfectly normal behaviour. Doesn't meet the definition of a binge, because it wasn't ridiculously excessive under the circumstances. And it's humid as hell so the amount I've sweated out should stop the scales being too alarming!

Skala123 · 04/09/2016 07:45

MsHeffalump you're right that the odd blow out due to an occasion shouldn't be stressed about - otherwise these 'diets' would take over our lives and make us miserable. We had a dinner party on Friday so I ended up on 2500 cals but have stuck to 1200 the rest of the week so should be ok
Ginger why don't you sign up to another half marathon or 10k to et you running again? I always need to have a challenge to keep me running. I'll happily hit the gym but running needs motivation I think!
DH cooking a roast today so need to be careful what I eat to prevent another blow out. Will weigh in shortly and update.

Skala123 · 04/09/2016 07:49

Scales still showing 9.6 and that's been a few days now so I'm going to take that as a 3lb loss this week which I'm really pleased with. Weight that goes on fast, i.e over a holiday does tend to come off pretty fast so fingers crossed I can keep it up and head towards 9st by the end of the month

NapQueen · 04/09/2016 07:53

Ok first weigh in. 13 stone 7lb exactly. Far far to heavy for my height (5'2) but half a stone lighter than I thought I would read.

I need a nice easy hob meal (main oven broken and part not arrived yet) for this evening that I can enjoy and will fill me up if anyone can recommend anything.

NapQueen · 04/09/2016 07:55

I've no occasions this month so will go dry too.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 04/09/2016 08:17

Risotto? Bolognese? Stew?

NapQueen · 04/09/2016 08:28

Oh a nice stew full of veg.

Breakfast one slice of best of both with a spread of butter. A fried egg (frylite) and a small squire of HP. 253cals.

ponygirlcurtis · 04/09/2016 09:07

Do you have a slow cooker, NapQueen? Bung everything in and leave it!

I am going for dinner with family later, it's always Pizza Hut which is a tricky one for someone who eats LCHF! Basically one choice - the salad bar with a side order of chicken bites. At least I can eat as much salad as I like, and I am usually too busy helping DS2 (4) to register my food anyway. Grin

NapQueen · 04/09/2016 09:08

I don't but I would like one!

Dyrne · 04/09/2016 09:20

Skala apparently prosecco is supposed to be one of the better things to drink calorie wise - my vice is those flavoured ciders which unfortunately are filled with sugar and so are 211kcals a bottle :(

Pikachu great idea about looking on Pintrest - that should help stop keep it from getting boring. I've discovered that one sandwich thin, proscuitto, salad and balsamic glaze will fill me up for lunch, and it's only 170kcals, so I have that every single day for work lunch! I'm a picky eater though so dont mind repetition Grin

Carrie i completely agree there's nothing more frustrating than having a completely disappointing dinner and realising it was massively calorific. At least if you've had a pleasant meal you can justify the calories a bit more!

It's nice seeing that people are being sensible about things - allowing one blow out but determined to get straight back on track. I agree that it should make things more sustainable in the long run!

Yesterday I managed to keep under 1200kcals and did a respectable amount of exercise (burnt over 400kcal) so i'm happy. About to jump on the exercise bike and then, if I stick to plan, should manage another good day food-wise.

Great work to everyone on the losses; and hello to all the new people.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 04/09/2016 09:30

Please may I join in? Really need to do this, have a huge amount of weight to lose!

ponygirlcurtis · 04/09/2016 09:45

I only started using my slow cooker recently, NapQueen, I love it and I have filled the freezer with individual meals. And the DSs ate the bolognaise I did in it, first time in ages they've happily eaten anything I have cooked! no need to tell them about the carrots I grated into it

That's all sounding great Dyrne! Impressive amounts of exercise.
