Need to Lose Half a Stone but Finding it Impossible to get into "The Zone" !!

BaconAndAvocado · 12/07/2016 21:57

Help!

Half a stone has crept on since christmas and my will power is non-existent.

I know what I need to do but just can't seem to motivate myself!

Any ideas?

I'm 5'5" and I weigh 9st 10lb, the heaviest I've ever been.

I've lost weight in the past by cutting down and doing lots of walking so I can do it!

I'm a classic pear shape but the weight is going straight onto my stomach, it's getting uncomfortably big Blush

Morning losers! Was worried I'd killed this thread, glad to see you both here still!

Happy birthday for Wednesday bacon - hope you had a lovely day, also happy birthday to your DD this week! And I hope your DS got the results he was hoping for!

Love your post fenella about daisy duke lady, I'm definitely going to picture her when I feel like sabotaging my efforts. Anyway it was a really inspirational post - thank you!

I seem to have regained my mojo too - hurrah! I've been pretty good all week, and havent drank a drop of alcohol in over a week now! Am sleeping SO much better for it, too. Exercise this week has been tricky due to long working hours, gah! I get really tetchy when I can't exercise. Either way, my eating has been pretty good - I've been fairly mindful and have been drinking a lot of fizxy water which has helped me not snack so much.

So as you can imagine, at weigh in this morning I was disappointed to have stayed the same this week - especially as I was 1lb down at my cheeky weigh in yesterday. I thought I had it in the bag! Dammit! I did have a huge meal late last night though and I haven't been to the toilet in three days, tmi Blush so I guess that could be to blame.

I'm going to really go for it this week, and I'll be under 9st 9 lb come this time next week. Wait and see! Grin
forgets I have 2 boozy nights out planned next week

Hope you've both had a successful week!

BaconAndAvocado · 19/08/2016 10:44

Not sure how you do the Walk of Shame online........?!

I'm now 9st 7lb, aghhhhhhhh! A 2lb gain on last week. Shock

I have been completely off-zone this week, no excuses.

mrs have you been to the loo yet? That will definitely make a difference! It's so annoying isn't it when you're really careful all week and then the scales don't behave themselves? Don't fret, I bet all your good work will pay off at next week's weigh in.

DS1 did brilliantly in his A levels and got his first choice Uni (yay!) so, of course, that involved another nice meal and a few glasses of fizz Blush

Next week is relatively uneventful but the week after that we're away on holiday when is really don't want to be watching what I eat!!

FenellaFerranti · 19/08/2016 12:32

Wow well done to your DS bacon where is he off to? What great news!

Mrs I think we've had a snap week - I was 1lb down yesterday but a had a cheeky glass of wine and dominoes for dinner last night after a looooong day and so I've had a blank week. Still, on the plus side I'm wearing those thin jeans today and I've lost 5/6lbs over the last few weeks which has helped a lot. Let's not forget our overall achievement! It's harder now as we're around our 'natural' weights I think.

I'm going to redouble my efforts next week and try for a loss again!

BaconAndAvocado · 19/08/2016 13:19

Thanks fenella DS1 is going to Manchester Uni to study Chemical Engineering. I can't believe that this time next month he won't be living here!

You may well be right about us reaching our 'natural' weights as I'm not getting any younger and I think we just tend to put on a few pounds naturally each year. Having said that, it would be nice to lose just a couple of pounds!!

OP posts:
MrsDesperado · 19/08/2016 17:36

Yay congratulations Bacon DS! That's fab news on his A-levels and a great Uni to be studying at. How are you feeling about him leaving for Uni..? Will be a bit of an emotional time for you I'd imagine.

Don't worry about this week's weigh in though - birthday weeks shouldn't don't count, in my book Grin What about a final push next week before your holiday?? Since fenella has pledged to redouble her efforts, I think we should too Wink

I don't like this talk about us reaching our 'natural' weights! Although I do seem to settle at this weight easily...I'm definitely trying to resist it though - I'm determined that my new natural weight will around the 9 stone mark.

Oh and I finally went to the loo after my morning cuppa, thankfully! I must've lost a good half a stone down there! Grin

Does anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend? We have rain forecast all weekend and we've no plans for once! DH is out tonight and since I'm still not hungry after a massive lunch I'm going to skip dinner and sip fizzy water. Will try to resist snacking later after the kids are in bed!

BaconAndAvocado · 19/08/2016 17:41

Grin mrs at your sudden weight loss!! I'm heading for the tinned prunes!

Yes I think we should try hard next week, I've got nothing major in the culinary department planned so there's no excuses!

You're very good just sipping fizzy water mrs I'm in awe!

This weekend my German sister in law is coming over and I haven't seen her in 7 years so can't wait for that!!

OP posts:
MrsDesperado · 21/08/2016 10:17

Hope you're having a nice nice with your sister-in-law bacon

It's a quiet weekend for us. Well, as quite as it can be with a 4- and 6-year old! Grin Didnt leave the house at all yesterday so we're a bit cabin fever today. Rain has subsided though so we should get out, at least for a couple of hours! I've got a nasty cold so feeling sorry for myself. I can't taste anything and have no appetite - every cloud and all that!
Managed to do a quick 30-minute workout yesterday, but ive not been running in a week, might go tonight if I feel up to it.

BaconAndAvocado · 26/08/2016 09:19

Back on track today, 9st 4 1/2lb. Phew, I didn't want to be going up from 9st 7lb........

I had a lovely time seeing my SIL mrs and we've vowed to visit them next year.

Having a quiet day today, food shopping for our holiday. Want to keep DCs out of the sun as they got a bit burnt yesterday on the beach. It was odd because I definitely ladled on the sun cream. Going to buy some new today.

MrsDesperado · 26/08/2016 10:18

Well done bacon that's an awesome loss! You should be feeling very pleased with that!
When are you off on your holidays?

I've stayed the same again this week (9st 10 1/2) ...I'm actually ok with that, I've had (and still have) a filthy horrible cold, so have been lying in a Rd a fair bit and have mainly been eating simple stodgy carbohydrates - bagels etc. I was even worried I might have gained!

So August hasn't been a great month for me weight wise. I'm still feeling determined though. Just wish I felt a bit healthier at the moment!

FenellaFerranti · 26/08/2016 10:46

Hi ladies! I'm back down to 9lbs 7oz which is something but no further loss. I've not tried as hard as I ought to have, to be honest!

I think psychologically it's a funny time - for me, DS2 is settling in to nursery, in back and forth dropping him off at random times, juggling him and DS1 and starting to pick up some work stuff as a return from maternity leave in 10 days! Hoping once I can get back into a routine I can pick it up again but I think I've got into better habits and I'm not scoffing reflexively as much as I was thanks to you guys at the very least!

BaconAndAvocado · 26/08/2016 22:12

Thanks mrs yes, I'm very pleased with that loss! Sorry to hear you've still got a cold, that's bad luck when we're having all this lovely weather.

We're off to Center Parcs on Monday, really looking forward to it as it may be the last holiday DS1 goes on with us Shock

We'll be having a Digital Detox so I won't be checking in on Friday morning. Strangely enough, I won't be taking the scales either! I don't think it's going to be a lean week!

fenella sounds like you've got a lot on your plate at the moment, blimey! How are you feeling about going back to work? Like you say, once the routine kicks in, it'll get easier.

Speaking of scoffing, hiding behind the sofa in shame I had a huge craving for jelly babies and ate 3/4 of a bag............. Blush

Good morning Losers!
Hope everyone has had a good week. I know you're still on your digital detox at CP bacon but this is for when you return Grin I hope you've had a good holiday!
fenella I hope you've enjoyed your last week of maternity leave? How are you feeling about going back to work? I hope your kids are settling into nursery ok, it's big changes ahead for you!

Well, I can proudly state that I am BACK ON THE WAGON COMPLETE WITH LOST MOJO! Grin (Sorry for shouting, but this is big news!!)

I am down to 9st 8.5lb - a nice 2lb loss this week, so I'm very happy! Especially so as I'm full of period bloat too tmi

DH has been away all week so I've been super organised cooking healthy meals. Maybe he should go away more often! I also bought some "portion control containers" which are tiny from Amazon which are really helping me (and I'm not being totally strict). It's been a bit of a revelation, actually, and it's really helped me stop cut down the snacking. Just need to keep up the good work once DH gets bac this evening and I dive into the wine...Grin

BaconAndAvocado · 02/09/2016 14:07

Greetings Fellow Slimmers!

Wow, mrs that is fab! loving the sound of these portion control containers! will have a gander at Amazon. Well done you!

In the end the Digital Detox was abandoned hides head in shame but the holiday was still great, I do love Center Parcs even though it is a complete piss take at times.

My mojo has also been on holiday this week as I've been enjoying myself,in every sense of the word and I've got my period too.

I will weigh myself tomorrow morning, god help me! Going to a friends for an Indian takeaway tonite so think I may be back up to the giddy heights of my start weight tomorrow!

fenella hope all well with you, sending you Wine Chocolate and Cake re going back to work, although I do realise that's kind of counter active on this thread Hmm Good Luck with it all.

FenellaFerranti · 02/09/2016 16:29

Hi losers! Well done on the loss Mrs!! That's very impressive! No weigh in here as I've been on a work trip with DS2 (oh yes, 5 hours sleep last night then a budget meeting this morning. Downside of breastfeeding!!). A cheeky weigh in earlier in the week revealed that is somehow managed to keep the weight off at least but that was before 2 days of solid eating!!

Feeling good about next week, nursery is going well and some time as a grown up will be great, it'll also be nice to have a few days a week where I'm eating according to my appetite, not to child timetables!

bacon the holiday sounds lovely and I hope you're enjoying feeling slim in your swimsuit too - the novelty might have worn off but we've all done really well and lost a half stone or so from where we were a few weeks ago!!
