Need to Lose Half a Stone but Finding it Impossible to get into "The Zone" !!

BaconAndAvocado · 12/07/2016 21:57

Help!

Half a stone has crept on since christmas and my will power is non-existent.

I know what I need to do but just can't seem to motivate myself!

Any ideas?

I'm 5'5" and I weigh 9st 10lb, the heaviest I've ever been.

I've lost weight in the past by cutting down and doing lots of walking so I can do it!

I'm a classic pear shape but the weight is going straight onto my stomach, it's getting uncomfortably big Blush

Hey that's great bacon looks like those 2 lean days you had last week have paid off. Might try that trick myself once I get the chance!

FenellaFerranti · 03/08/2016 06:34

How's the week going ladies? A sneaky weigh-in this morning has revealed that I've lost the 2lbs Shock that I put on at the weekend (why does DH's theory not work for me???) and an a square 9.8 now, rather than a smidge over. Two days to try and drop another lb or two - can't believe I'm nearly there after struggling with this bloody half stone for ages - thanks again for being so motivational, it's really making a difference!

MrsDesperado · 03/08/2016 09:06

That's brilliant news fenella - really well done! I agree, the motivation and support coming from this thread has definitely made the difference for me this time.

I'm still away from home so haven't been able to have any sneaky weigh-ins. I'm getting a bit concerned about what the scales will say on Friday as I haven't monitored my diet or booze consumption at all this week, and I haven't exercised either. At the very least, I'm hoping to have not gained any weight. Once I'm back home it'll be back to watching very carefully what I eat and fitting my usual exercise in. Still another half a stone at least to go for me!

MrsDesperado · 05/08/2016 07:21

Good morning losers! How's everyone's week been?
Just weighed myself and am 9st9.5lb so I've maintained the minuscule 0.75lb loss I saw on Monday. Given how appalling my diet has been over the past 7 days, I am feeling quite pleased with this and bloody amazed not to have gained!
Planning for a lean couple of days now until Sunday when we have visitors coming, then I'll relax a bit but no where near to levels seen this week.
Feeling pretty motivated now, would like to see a good 2lb off at next Friday's weigh in.
Hope you've all had a successful week!

FenellaFerranti · 05/08/2016 07:30

Oh that's good Mrs! I managed to put on 2lbs in a weekend so your constitution must be made of sterner stuff. A lb off here so now 9lbs 7oz. Pretty happy with the weight loss although still getting my head around how saggy my tummy is this time around Sad. Junk in going to start running to try and tone up once the boys are at nursery next month. This weekend shouldn't be too naughty bar a big BBQ on Saturday so fingers crossed I can keep it going.

Hope everyone else has had good weeks too - bacon how long until your holiday?

BaconAndAvocado · 05/08/2016 08:17

Morning all!

I'm now 9st 4 3/4lb!! So pleased! Well done mrs and fenella

Re the tummy situation fenella I don't think my tum will ever be the same flat entity that it was pre-DCs but at least there's less of it now!

My holiday isn't until the last week of the school holidays, seems a long way off!

MrsDesperado · 05/08/2016 08:44

Well done fenella and bacon on your losses! Your starting weights are not far off what mine is currently, so seeing you get down to 9 and a half stone and under is really motivating for me!
I also find it interesting that we've all lost a similar amount (~5lbs) over the course of this thread. That's not bad going for 3.5 weeks! I'd be so happy to be down to 9st4.5 by the end of August - this thread is making me see it could be a real possibility!
Thanks and Flowers to everyone who has contributed so far!

BaconAndAvocado · 05/08/2016 13:01

You're right mrs 5lb over 3 weeks is a pretty amazing loss. I wonder whether our weight losses will slow down over the next few weeks?

I'd be more than happy with losing just a pound a week eventually!

OP posts:
FenellaFerranti · 05/08/2016 13:11

Think we're definitely in 'the zone' now Wink. To be honest I'm pretty happy at this weight for now, another couple of lbs would be nice but I find 9.5 stone pretty easy to maintain so don't want to diet hard to get loads more off then feel bad if it goes back on (low standards!!).

You guys have been a great motivator, can't belive what a difference it's made but very grateful!!

BaconAndAvocado · 05/08/2016 13:42

I'm grateful too fenella Flowers

I know what you mean re losing too much, it's never been possible for me to maintain a huge weight loss so, I'd be really pleased with somewhere around 9st 2ish.

OP posts:
MrsDesperado · 05/08/2016 16:28

Only a few more pounds for you guys to go now, it won't be long!

Pleae stick around afterwards! I'm not sure I'll be able to keep this up on my own!! Grin

BaconAndAvocado · 05/08/2016 16:51

I'll be here, maybe for a veeeeery long time as I'm an extremely long way from The Zone right now!

I baked a cinnamon tea loaf (frozen from Iceland, don't get excited!) and have eaten almost half of it today......and we're going out for dinner tonight Shock

Oh, and I made pancakes for the DCs (a bit of a theme this holiday!) and had.....2!

And I had a cold sausage too......

Zone, Zone, wherefore art thou Zone?
(I think I'm excluded from the Zone at weekends)

OP posts:
MrsDesperado · 05/08/2016 17:36

Oh I do hope you stay bacon!

I'm struggling to find the elusive Zone too. I find it so much harder after having a week away of eating and drinking whatever I fancy. Doesn't help that DH just came home with s bottle of wine too, so there's some extra calories I don't need!

doesn't occur to me not to drink any of it

Sausage pasta for dinner here, not too unhealthy if I watch my portion size

Enjoy your meal out bacon!

BaconAndAvocado · 05/08/2016 22:14

Thanks mrs Smile

Meal was lovely, it was a celebration for DD - today marks her 14th dry night in a row which is a huge achievement for her (she's 8 in a couple of weeks) so I felt it had to have a dessert to truly be a part of the celebrations Grin

That said, it was Eton mess so had a fair bit of fruit in it as well as mahoosive amounts of meringue and cream

OP posts:
MrsDesperado · 09/08/2016 11:59

Hello losers! Grin
How's everyone's week going?

Congrats bacon's DD - long may the dry nights last! Hope you had a nice meal out on Friday.

I had a fairly strict weekend (to make up for last week's splurge) and it seemed to have paid off when my sneaky weigh in yesterday morning had me at 9st 8lb Shock This morning I was back up to 9st9 though but that's still less than I was on Friday - yay!

Off out for beers and dinner tonight, will have to be strict for the rest of the week if I'm going to see a good loss on Friday.

FenellaFerranti · 09/08/2016 14:13

Well done Mrs! And well done to your DD bacon!

Doing badly here. Lb back on already and I just ate All The Food for lunch. We're night weaning DS2 and sleep is hard to come by, carbs seem to be the only solution at the moment! Trying not to drink this week and hopefully will be better tomorrow but I need your moral support ladies as I'm really struggling!

Ahh fenella you have my sympathies, it's so hard to keep up your resolve when you're so utterly shattered.

You've done so well and come so far already! That lb youve put on, well I bet it's gone again by Friday (that's what I'm telling myself anyway). Don't get disheartened...

If you want the comfort of carbs, how about not denying yourself any but making sure when you do you have some you make sure you have some protein with it too? So if you crave some toast, just have one slice and microwave scramble an egg to go on top? That might break the carb-crash-carb cycle?

BaconAndAvocado · 10/08/2016 11:06

Yes, keep going fenella there's no way I could have cut down on my eating when my DCs were that little. You're doing amazingly well!

Thanks all re DD - hopefully she's nailed it now! School nurse said 14 days was a key figure. And it's her birthday sleepover on Saturday --
god help me so brilliant timing there!

We're having a lazy day at home today which isn't great when I'm trying to eat less!

FenellaFerranti · 12/08/2016 07:24

Well 1lb extra staying on here. Worst performance of the thread so far Blush. Sorry, feels like I've let you down. I know exactly what it is - it's finishing the kids' dinners, going mad at lunch and too much booze in the evenings. Just sooooo hard when you're so tired. The night weaning isn't paying off yet. Could have been worse - I was 2.5lbs one point!

I will try harder next week and try to shift a bit more!

Well done to your DD bacon 2 weeks is great and I bet a big relief for you too! How many friends is she having round for the sleepover?

BaconAndAvocado · 12/08/2016 08:55

Don't worry fenella there must be something in the air! I've put on this week, only 1/4 pound but it's still the first time I've gained...... Sad

I've had my period this week and generally taken my eye off the ball.
Next week may be worse! I have 2 family birthdays, my brother and his family are coming from overseas to visit and grimacing DS1 gets his A level results.........

Don't be daft fenella you haven't let anyone down, life just gets in the way of things sometimes and you've got so much more to contend with than me with your little ones. HANG IN THERE!

DD is having 3 friends for her sleepover; 2 of them are going through a funny patch and may well not stay the night! DD doesn't know this yet.......

MrsDesperado · 12/08/2016 20:41

Sorry for the late update! Had a crazy day and only just sat down

There definitely must be sonething in the air. I have put on 1lb this week Blush. So I've let the team down too! Grin

I know what it is too - we've had visitors this week, so there's been much boozing, puddings, lunches out and zilch exercise - I have most definitely take my eye off the ball and have had my period too, coincidence?.

Today I've been eating mostly stodgy beige food, too. Probably because I'm tired! No booze tonight for me, hopefully early night and hopefully I will get some motivation back in the morning. Bit worried I've lost my mojo though Confused Sad

FenellaFerranti · 17/08/2016 07:05

Hello losers! I am recapturing the zone this week. No more feeling sorry for myself. We've all done really well and everyone is allowed a blip.

Took the kids and dog out for a walk in our local park yesterday. I was there sweating away in jauntily coloured shorts with DS1 in the pushchair, DS2 in the sling and the dog pulling away in the lead, feeling like a boiled ham, and this mum walked past me with her beautiful blond son. He must have been about 12 so I guess she was older than me (or started young!) but she was cool, she was slim, she was wearing Daisy Duke denim cut-offs and her legs were AMAZING - after I got over my initial self-loathing I've decided to take her as inspiration that motherhood and aging aren't going to grind me down and I CAN still look nice. Tuna steak and wheatgrass shots for the rest of the week (and maybe a magnum if it's really hot...Confused)

BaconAndAvocado · 17/08/2016 12:26

Teehee fenella Mum Envy eh? We've all been there! Daisy Duke denim shorts, blimey I'll definitely never get to wear those again! I just about feel comfortable in a pair of normal shorts......apart from my milk bottle legs which just don't seem to catch the sun anymore Sad

Sounds like you're getting lots lots of exercise, well done you.

I am WAY off getting back into The Zone. We've had a fair few family get together this week with my brother, DD's birthday yesterday included a meal at Wagamamas and today is my birthday which will include afternoon tea and an Indian...............I'm going to need a satnav to find The Zone next week.

Added into the any Excuse for a Pig Out mix, DS1 gets his A Level results tomorrow.......... Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate

Oh happy birthday bacon!!!! And good luck for your DS tomorrow! Gosh how nerve-wracking, mine are so little it feels a lifetime away but expect it will come round in no time. Hope he's happy with the results and it's a celebratory meal!!
