Is there a gym attendance thread?

Just read a fab long one from 05 - with puff, snowball, cam etc etc on and wondered if there was a more recent thread like that running? If not can this be it?

I joined the gym this week and have been twice this week and going again tomorrow.

Finding it hard going but hoping for it to improve as my fitness does but Im really enjoying it!

Im aiming on losing a cuople of pounds by March and toning up for weddings in April and June!

Update. Weighed today after a week of dieting and more regular gym attendance and have lost 5lbs. Very pleased..

Bozza · 26/01/2007 21:55

Well done. 5lbs is fantastic. I am going in the morning. Have not really done any exercise today but have walked (pushing DD) home from the car garage where it was getting MOTed and back again to collect it.

2nervesleft · 26/01/2007 22:03

Have booked a badminton court for 9am tomorrow to play with Dh. Is this a fat burning activity? I am rubbish and therefore run around much more than he does.

Thanks Bozza. Was pleased it was as much a 5lb because I have just started taking the pill and thought it might affect my weight. I haven't done anything today not even walked anywhere because it rained all day (again).

Hi everyone

I havent been on this thread for a few days as I thought it had died!

I have been carrying on with my every other day gym habit and doing well.

Went this morning and did 10 minutes on the bike, 10 minutes rowing machine and 30 minutes cross trainer. Then did full body weight workout - was a hard workout but felt great!!

Going again tomorrow or sunday.

i have bought a gym ball but not blown it up yet - does anyone have any advise on exercises to do on it?

I think you can do sit up type things on a gym ball, she says rather vaguely.

I went to the gym this morning and did, 20 mins on bike, 10 mins on cross trainer and, er, 2 1/2 mins on stepper. Had had enough and was running out of time. Then I did some weights. Off out tonight though so unlikely to feel like it tomorrow. Also will be short of time.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 27/01/2007 14:35

I havent been to gym today but intend to go in the morning, thats if I dont have a hangover!

I cant wait to see some results for all my efforts

Pecka - you can do sit ups on the ball but you can also use it as an office chair when you are mumsnetting and it works your core muscles to strengthen them! Good huh? The very annoying gym instructor demonstrated this by getting me to sit on a chair with legs crossed and then to try to do same on ball - impossible.

To continue to bore you with my progress - I went out with 2 yr old on back of bike yesterday afternoon for 1 hours ride, will go to gym tonight after work.

Keep up your good work everyone!

Hi everyone, have relapsed.
Saturday went for a walk, but ended up in the pub, which meant Sunday was a date on the sofa. Yesterday I went for a walk to the supermarket, and this morning I was supposed to go swimming, but I think I have PMT so am feeling less perky. I am walking to the coffee shop this arvo [an hour away] to meet a friend. So all is not lost. Back in the gym tomorrow afternoon though, so will hopefully get my mojo back.

MuckyAnthea · 31/01/2007 09:16

Hi again!!
Your going to get sick of me, I can tell!
Anyway, I went to the gym today and walked home. Feel MUCH better for it too. Also, discovered the reason my heart rate goes like billy'o, its down to my breathing technique. Today I experimented with it and looked like a fish, but my heart rate never went above 159, which is my maximum, before it would go to 178+ sometimes. Am well happy about this as I was getting worried.

bethoo · 31/01/2007 09:16

morning all fellow fitness fanatics!!
i did 40 mins on the bike and 10 on cross trainer. would have done some leg weights but the weights room was filled with squaddies so was a bit embarrassed. do not feel quite as confident training when you are about to pop! the gym staff always ask if i am ok, i think they are worried that i will go into labour on their duty! only 4 weeks to go! do not know if i will be able to take baby with me!

MuckyAnthea · 31/01/2007 09:19

oooh bethoo!! 4 weeks to go till you pop!!!
I really respect you keeping up your gym regime and don't blame you for not wanting to lift weights with the squaddies, I wouldn't do it either, and thats just in my present non preggers state!!

MummyPenguin · 31/01/2007 17:17

Can I join you gym go-ers now? I made it back today - first time since middle of December! I cycled there and back, approx 15 mins each way. That alone nearky killed me - I felt like a 40 a day smoker!! Anyway, once in the gym, I walked on the treadmill for 5 mins, then went into a jog, and notched it up to a run. This I did for 15 minutes. Then I did 15 minutes on the stepper, then some upper body weights, and some abdominal work on the swiss ball. Then shower and home. Felt really good for getting back there, going again on Friday.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 31/01/2007 17:30

I went yesterday, had a fab workout.

Can now manage 30 mins on cross trainer which I am happy about.

Then did 20 minutes on the treadmill, fast walking on an incline.

Then about half an hour of weights - I can really feel it today!

No pain no gain!

My davina box set came today so hoping to fit that in later then back to the gym tomorrow.

When will my new body arrive!!>>

went to the gym again last night and managed to get into the weights room! not many squaddies in there though the ones that were were nice eye candy with bulging muscles though no interest in me as my bump looks huge in my baggy t shirt! maybe it is big now! when i was on the bench doing my arm weights i was checking out the hige bump in the mirrir! i quickly deoarted shortly afterward!!!

MuckyAnthea · 01/02/2007 09:36

Today I swam 50 lengths [10 breast stroke, 10 back stroke, 4 holding a float and kicking legs, 7 breast stroke, 5 back stroke, 4 kicking with a float, 10 breast stoke.] then walked home.

MummyPenguin · 01/02/2007 09:39

Am really feeling it in my muscles today, after my workout yesterday! Not doing anything today - sitting here eating a big bowl of porridge!! Back to gym tomorrow.

Bethoo, I like the sound of your gym with the squaddies!!

MummyPenguin · 01/02/2007 09:42

Bethoo, just had a look at your pictures. Awww those doggies! And the cat curled up with one too! I'm an animal person too, I have a Golden Retriever and a Labrador, and a cat.

bethoo · 01/02/2007 09:54

Mucky - one word - IMPRESSIVE!

Mummyp - yes i have another cat too, she is more elusive though last night i was sat on the end of the bed and she was tapping me on the shoulder so i had to sit her on my lap for a stroke and then one of the dogs had ot come and try and squeeze his big head on my lap too. i think the pregnancy hormones i am giving off are making them so needy!!!

tempted to put up my pre pregnancy piccies as i have one on my fridge to encourage me to get it back! anyone else tempted or is is just me? i think it is because i feel fat now and i can say yes i was slim once!

MummyPenguin · 01/02/2007 10:04

You're not fat, you're pregnant! I admire you for going to the gym, especially so close to your due date. Of course it has nothing to do with those squaddies....

I bet Labour will be much easier after all your exercise and keeping yourself fit.

bethoo · 01/02/2007 10:59

bloody well hope so! hoping to do squatting or all fours in pool! but then labour is never how we planned! will probably be screaming cut it out!

MuckyAnthea · 02/02/2007 08:41

Went to the gym, did the usual routine, but really watched the breathing/heart rate. Did arm weights too. Glass of red wine tonight as a reward harrah!!

bethoo · 02/02/2007 10:42

Mucky - red wie in moderation is good for you!! all those riboflavins things! help reduce cholesterol and heart disease...

MummyPenguin · 02/02/2007 11:21

Went to the gym again today. Cycled there and back (approx 15 mins each way.) Went on treadmill, I usually walk for 5 mins, then jog, slowly notching up the speed, and usually manage a 15 - 20 minute run. After about 6 mins of jogging, I got stitch, which sometimes happens, and is really annoying, so I abandoned the treadmill, and went and did 15 mins on the sit-down bike (can't remember the correct name for it.) Then did 20 mins on the cross trainer, then some upper body and leg weights, abs work on the swiss ball, then home.

bethoo · 02/02/2007 14:12

well i will not be able to make it to gym tonight as it closes early and will not make it in time as still at work. but will be putting in a couple of hours tomorrow morning if i can get up! so i think this weekend is preparing my labour bag!

PeckaRolloverAgain · 02/02/2007 14:33

I went this morning and had a fab workout - did 15 minutes treadmill, 35 minutes cross trainer and 10 minutes bike to make up my 1 hour cardio.

Then did full weights workout for arms, legs, chest and abs. I really enjoyed the chin up one and realy worked my arms on that - hoping for some pain tomorrow to prove how hard I worked!!!

Hoping to get back in at some point over the weekend but DH on 12 hour days on sat and sun so will depend on childcare
