New week, new year, new thread, new motivation!

(No, I haven't gone mad with the thread number, the last one covered two weeks).

OP posts:

It must be really difficult. In my book, calories consumed as fruit don't really count. I know it's not really true, but I like to think of it that way.

Dottydot · 10/01/2007 15:46

In WW they're definitely not counted - it's fab - I can eat bags of grapes (and they've recently included avocados, which I love) and you don't have to count them. Hurrah! Just wish I liked more fruit. I'm partial to strawberries but that's not much use at this time of year.

JackieNo · 10/01/2007 15:47

No, I guess not. I thought avocadoes were really high in calories? But then they're incredibly good for you, aren't they, so maybe it balances out.

Dottydot · 10/01/2007 15:49

Yes, they've just included them because the fat is good fat. Mind you they've gone all low GI now, so that you're only 'allowed' brown rice for free (i.e. brown rice doesn't have to be counted, but white rice has points to it). Something about them aligning to a more medical diet, so if your GP wanted you to go on a low GI diet, they could send you to WW (you'd still have to pay the £4.95 a week though...).

JackieNo · 10/01/2007 15:51

Well it obviously works...

Dottydot · 10/01/2007 15:53

Oh yes - if you stick to it... I must get my act together - I feel like I'm waiting for something to kick in (my will power!) and I'll start doing as well as I used to, but I've got stuck and can't seem to move myself forward again.

sigh.

JackieNo · 10/01/2007 15:59

I know just how you feel .

CheesyFeet · 10/01/2007 16:48

Well I have cracked (first day )

I have had a twix

I am STARVING and the only source of food is a chocolate machine.

Still, 1200 kcals + twix = not very much, right???

I will bring some more fruit & ricecakes etc to work tomorrow.

Bugger, bollocks and arse.

EeyoreIsFab · 10/01/2007 17:07

Cheesy - a 18000 feast would be great! I can just picture it now - chocolate cake, chocolate biscuits...

Oh well, back to the real world of healthy eating - I'm just 3 days in and missing sweet stuff like mad. Having a meringue in the evening has helped a little, but thoughts of biscuits, sweets and cake keep popping into my head.

Agree with Dotty about the fruit & veg - it's about the only thing I struggle to eat!

twoisenoughmum · 10/01/2007 17:09

Thanks you Littlemiss - have emailed you. Its a bit long and don't feel you must prioritise, or even reply at all! I know you are very very busy at work atm.

Got to go, making leek & potato soup for me and DH dinner tonight. Can't get much cheaper than that can it?

Will probably eat it with loads of bread and butter, if I know myself at all, so not exactly cheap on the calories front ... .

And DD's birthday tea tomorrow - the house is crammed with chocolate wafer finger biscuits and crisps and ... oh dear

EeyoreIsFab · 10/01/2007 17:09

Doesn't sound too bad Cheesy. I don't know about twixes, but I think flakes are around 200cals & on top of 1200 cals what harm can it really do. Don't beat yourself up about it.

Littlefish · 10/01/2007 18:27

Last time I did WW I seemed to live on their vegetable soup which had no points.

My flatmate, however, pointed out a great truth.

There's nothing wrong with vegetable soup that half a pound of strong cheddar cheese wouldn't solve!

littlemisssensible · 10/01/2007 20:20

TIEM, Just sent an e-mail! I hope it helps

schneebly · 11/01/2007 09:10

Morning all - just weighed myself and rather pleased! I have lost 2 pounds! Might have been even more but (TMI ALERT!) I haven't 'been' since Sunday because I had a dodgy tummy and took Immodium and now I cant go despite eating oats and fruit all week - starting to feel rather uncomfortable! Hope everyone else has done well!

Cheesyfeet - 1200 cals plus a twix is still low so dont worry! I am on 2000 cals a day and just a bit heavier than you and losing weight so dont worry!

JackieNo · 11/01/2007 09:49

Yay, Schneebly! Well done. And I hope that you can, ahem, go soon.

schneebly · 11/01/2007 09:51

Thank you for your well wishes I was wondering if I should take something but those kind of things usually affect me in a violent kind of way!

CheesyFeet · 11/01/2007 09:53

Well done Schneebly and there may even be a couple more pounds stuck in there by the sounds of things! Have you tried figs or prunes? They always work for me.

pmsl @ the 18000 typo, well spotted Eeyore - I think even I would struggle to eat that much in a day!

My Mum has lost about 3 stone with WW and she swears by the veg soup. I always thought that half a pint of double cream would sort it out nicely although Mum puts herbs & garlic in so it's quite tasty really.

I get weighed on a Tuesday so I will use that as my Thursday weight iyswim, so this week is Week 1 for me with 16st 12½ lb.

I have ignored the 1200 kcal thing today, I was sooooo hungry all day yesterday. I've included an extra slice of brown bread with my lunch and a few extra pieces of fruit so hopefully I'll be fine today.

Oh, but I did enjoy that Twix though

JackieNo · 11/01/2007 09:53

Maybe best not then. Just keep drinking loads of water, and eating the healthy stuff. I find that eating cereal (like rice krispies, or weetabix) always, you know, has a bit of that effect, without being too violent or long-lasting. But that's without having any, erm, blockages...

Sorry - that's definitely TMI, isn't it.

CheesyFeet · 11/01/2007 09:56

This conversation is going rapidly downhill isn't it ladies

CheesyFeet · 11/01/2007 09:57

Hopefully Schneebly's, erm, problem will go downhill too but not too rapidly

JackieNo · 11/01/2007 09:57

Cheesyfeet.

schneebly · 11/01/2007 10:04

PMSL and slightly

schneebly · 11/01/2007 10:05

chesy - sensible attitude about the extra bit of bread and fruit - best way to not crave a twix is to not let yourself get hungry!

littlemisssensible · 11/01/2007 10:39

Hi Guys!

Forgot to weigh this am Will do it tomorrow!

We still had 115 returns to do on Monday so work is completely bonkers, I've got DH at home with 'man flu' and he's just seen a house he'd like to buy in the property news so he's organised a valuer to come round this pm! I've still got boxes of christmas decorations in the hall, a carpenter in fixing some floor boards and a hole in the hall ceiling where it fell down just before xmas.....Arghhhhhhhhhh

I just wanna run away and hide with a good book and a pile of choccies under my duvet, ON MY OWN!

Sorry guys rant over! I could just do without my dh's 'wonderful' ideas!

JackieNo · 11/01/2007 10:40

It's all in the timing isn't it Littlemisssensible. Poor you - as if you didn't have enough stress at the moment as it is. Good luck with it.
