BethAndHerBrood · 11/01/2007 13:29

I've lost 3.5 pounds this week!!

I've had a couple of green days, with nothing but free food, and think that has really helped. Although I haven't been saintly by any means!

It's quite inspiring though.

Joby1970 · 11/01/2007 14:01

For all of you that think that SW receipes are bland.. or that Quorn is boring try this one

Sin Free Quorn Chilli

Ingredients
Packet of Quorn mince
450g mushrooms (quartered)
2 medium onions (diced)
garlic (sliced & mashed)approx 5 cloves
fresh chillis (sliced) approx 3
chilli powder (2 tsps)
cumin (2 tsps)
coriander (1 tsps)
2 tins kidney beans (drained)
1 tin cannelloni beans (drained)
2 tins chopped toms
1/2 jar of passata
Seasoning to taste.

Method
Spray a pan with fry lite. Fry the onion until soft, add garlic & chillis. Add quorn mince. Meanwhile dry fry your spices in another pan (keep an eye on these they burn v easily - it'll only take a minute to warm them thro.)Then add spices to the quorn mix.

Add mushrooms, add kidney beans & cannolloni beans & chopped toms. Add 1/2 jar of passata.

Seasons to taste.

Put in a deep casserole dish (& cover) & in the oven at 200C (sorry don't know equiv) for about an hour and 1/2. check half way through & stir.

You can have this with SW chips, jacket pots or rice.

I have served it to meat eaters & they didn't notice it was quorn

Feel free to swap the chilli powder for Hot Chilli powder if you like things more spicy.

It makes about 6-8 servings.

help !
Please can someone look up in their big syns book and tell me how many syns in a Waitrose Plum Tomato and Mozzarella salad.
If not, I guess I will use my 'A' option for the 40g of Mozzarella, have the salad as free food and count the sun dried tomato dressing as 3 syns.
Day 1 and I'm in a muddle already!

Mumbojumbo · 11/01/2007 15:55

Found this:

Waitrose Fresh Tomato, Mozzarella & Basil Fiorelli Pasta, chilled 100g

Original 14 Syns
Green 5½ Syns

Does that sound like the same product?

Fireflyfairy2 · 11/01/2007 15:59

For soup I melt a stockcube & put in some soaked lentils & peas. Then I boil for a while. Add carrots, leeks, parsley, onion, basically whatever veg I have in, boil it all up, reduce it & eat Lovely!! In fact I have a pan of it sitting here... remember to count the syn for the stock though!!

Kaloo20 · 11/01/2007 16:01

sadly no. Mine was a salad dish. Maybe it's new and therefore not in the book ...

thanks very much for trying for me

BENDYB · 11/01/2007 17:25

joby1970- that quorn chilli sounds nice, i'm gonna try that!

thanks 4 the soup recipe fireflyfairy!

Mumbojumbo · 11/01/2007 17:28

Just had a lovely tea - sounds a bit strange but was really nice!

Brown rice
Tin of baked beans
Tin of chick peas
Tin of kidney beans in chilli sauce

Cook rice.
Chuck beans in pan and heat through.
Serve.

Tastes like a chilli (but no meat obviously!). Free on Green. Got some left over for tomorrow's lunch (on toast!)

lurcherlass · 11/01/2007 17:44

Morrisons mixed bean chilli (canned) is free and tasty.I often throw in a handful of quorn (mince style) to bulk it up. Poured over a jacket potatoe, it looks like a HUGE meal.

katybumps · 11/01/2007 18:56

mmmmmm ive just eaten a massive plate of slimming world chips, when they were nearly done i cracked to eggs into them, shove em back in the oven for 5 , take em out cover em in beans and enjoy

oh and can anyone tell me if the new mullerlight layers are free ta very much x

mummyjx · 11/01/2007 19:08

Soup - soften diced onion in fry light, add diced carrot, swede, parsnip, potato, leek, celery (whatever you like really) and pre-soaked pearl barley (think you soak it overnight) with chicken stock and cook until thick and soft - vegetarian scotch broth. 'Tis filling.
I did post a recipe for tomato & chickpea somewhere at the beginning of this thread or at the end of the last one.
Potato is a good thing to put in because it softens and is a natural thickener. For a smoother soup, leave out pulses and blend after cooking.
Enjoy!

Mazzle · 11/01/2007 19:50

Hi everyone

This thread is really popular...I can't keep up!!

Sorry haven't been on for a few days. Have just had a quorn fillet thingy in thai sauce with a pack of savoury rice. It was really tasty and only 2.5 syns. Looked much nicer than DH's pizza actually which makes a change for 'diet' food!

Budababe · 11/01/2007 21:31

Hi All

am still plodding along although have had 2 bad evenings. Been good during tr eday though.

Tomorrow's plan is to sit down and work out exactly what I will eat for the next 4 days and shop accordingly.

Fairyfly - thanks so much for the offer of the book but post to Hungary is a bit hit and miss! I don't have miso soup as don't like it but thanks anyway.

Fireflyfairy2 · 11/01/2007 22:23

Aw well, you're still more than welcome if you change your mind

I am sat here with a curly wurly as I like either a sweet thing or a savoury thing at night with a cuppa... & a cw seems the best at only 6 syns

TheWillowTree · 12/01/2007 13:09

Hello again

Have done quite well this week - was sooo hungry yesterday after a day of vegetables and pasta that i indulged in an After Eight, but only one so happy with that! I also find Tic Tacs helpful to take the edge off my sweet tooth - not sure how many syns one is but they are ony supposed to be 2 cals so hopefully they are free.

Does anyone know how many syns i reduce a sandwich by for healthy extras? I had an egg sandwich for lunch with a bit of salad cream (office canteen - little choice) and the syns calculator came up as 5 syns. Bread comes up as 4 per slice so i am very confused! Can i count the bread as my healty extra and the rest is free?

PS my trousers definitly felt a little looser this morning!!

Joby1970 · 12/01/2007 13:50

Thewillowtree - re your egg sandwhich. I would count the bread as a HE and count one syn for the salad cream.

Wow I'm impressed with all the receipe ideas on here.

Fireflyfairy2 · 12/01/2007 18:45

Willowtree, tictacs have 1syn in 12 of them, 3 syns in the whole 16g pack

Rooicosta · 12/01/2007 19:42

I'm really hoping that someone can help me out here and give me some much needed advice.

I started class on Monday night, with loads of enthusiasm, motivation etc. I've gone from drinking a bottle of wine a night and eating nibbles to sticking to the plan 110% (no word of a lie) for 5 days, with no syns (apart from 1 yesterday). I haven't had all of me HE either but my consultant said I didn't have to have if I didn't want to. Anyway, I've weighed myself for the last two days (I know I shouldn't have but couldn't help myself) and I weigh EXACTLY the same as I did on Monday night!!!!

I feel soooooo downhearted when I've put my all into it and been so committed and everything and not even a 1lb loss! I'm gutted! Still motivated though, but gutted!

Has anyone else been in this situation or can anyone give me some reason as to why this might be?

All replies/ comments/ thoughts/ etc., gratefully received! xx

Rooicosta · 12/01/2007 20:12

Shosha - at the rate I'm going I might not even lose that! Feeling really fed up too!

TheWillowTree · 12/01/2007 20:36

Quite often when you are eating lots it takes while for your body to get used to delaing with it all. You may well be losing inches, even if not pounds, particualry if you are exercising - muscle weighs more than fat!

Try not to weigh yourslef too often ( I know - easier said than done) then you won't feel so downhearted!

I am sure you will be fine - keep it up.

lurcherlass · 12/01/2007 21:55

Have any other non-members discovered they cant get into the group members section of the SW website any more? I used to refer to it all the time for syn values. They must have got wise that non-members were using it and put in another screen, so you have to say what club you belong to. I'm so dissapointed- I guess they dont want you to get the benefit without coughing up the cash!!

TheWillowTree · 12/01/2007 23:26

You can bypass that - just click on register then when it takes you into the group choice page you can click on the links on the left to get to the home page or syns etc - I managed today

blossomsmine · 12/01/2007 23:36

Hi hope you don't mind me joining in. I joined sw on Thursday (god was that only yesterday feels like a lifetime ago) still getting my head around the rules but I stick to green as don't eat meat. Could someone please tell me how to make sw chips as feel i NEED them!
