Found this lovely recipe! Haven't tried it yet though so if anyone does, let me know what it's like.

Broccoli and Cheese Soup = 1.5 syns
-----
Small onion, chopped
2 medium potatoes, diced
350g Broccoli
500ml vegetable stock (1.5 syns per stock cube or use Bovril for FREE)
56g grated cheddar (2x HEa) or 42g reduced fat cheddar (1x HEa)
4 tbsps Very low fat fromage frais
Fry onion in frylight until soft. Add diced potato and veg stock. Simmer for 10 minutes then add the broccoli and simmer for another 10 minutes. Puree then reheat and stir in cheese and fromage frais

Serve with a (HEb) wholemeal roll (Optional)

Blossom mine:

SW chips

cut some potatoes into chips, par boil them for a while, just to soften them. Frylight a baking tray & put it in oven to heat. removes spuds & darin, shake about in the pan to give them a rough edge. Then put them in oven tray, frylight them again & pop into oven!! They are delicious!! Some people often break a couple of eggs into the baking tray & cook them in the oven too! Never tried it myself but have to say it does look nice!!!!

I'm off out for a meal tonight for my birthday with one of my sisters that live near me... the others live farther away so me & my sis are having a meal then meeting our hubbies in the pub!! Goodness knows how many days syns I will consume tonight

blossomsmine · 13/01/2007 21:16

Thanks fff2 - will be doing chips this week now! Hope you have a brilliant meal will be ages before I can go out to eat cos if i come off this diet now I know will never start again. Only joined Thursday, will I stop counting the days soon?

lurcherlass · 13/01/2007 21:25

Shosha, buy a big pot of VLF fromage frais as a base for your pasta sauce. Fry off a few mushrooms, onions, bacon if required and stir into the pasta along with the fromage frais.I made a sauce with smoked salmon and f/frais which was tasty.

blossomsmine · 13/01/2007 23:16

I would like to do a pasta dish too that isn't tomatoe based but I am on green so can i do the fromage frais one? Eaten so many chopped tomatoes i could literally puke.

Rooicosta · 14/01/2007 08:56

Blossom - Very Low Fat Fromage Frais is free on both Red and Green days so you can do that pasta sauce, no problem!

Had a good weekend apart from having some wine Friday night and last night, but it seems to have kick started my weight loss !

First weigh in tomorrow night, so I'll know for sure then!

Mullerlight layers are 1 1/2 syns each (cant remember who asked?). Shosha, here is another non-tom pasta sauce-295g can of Campbell's 99% Fat Free condensed mushroom soup
onions
mushrooms
Boil the soup in a pan, add the onions and mushrooms, place your cooked pasta in an oven proof dish and Pour over the pasta, and cook in the oven at 200°C/400°F/ Gas 6 for 15-20 minutes.I'm going to try it myself. The whole can of soup is 7 syns, so you might want to make a bit more pasta and share it with someone. I would probably "water" it down with chicken stock if need be. Let me know how you get on!

We've just had pasta with VLF F frais and smoked salmon. You're meant to fry off some garlic and I forgot, so I shopped it and thrw it in with the pasta half way through. It was quite nice, (but I am mad on smoked salmon)...bit bland tho. I'd make it again and add more garlic and a chopped courgette maybe?? Pesto comes in loads of flavours and is so easy to stir through. Syn values per tabs vary between 2 and 3 1/2. My favourite is aubergine (2 syns per tabs).

kemsmum · 14/01/2007 13:37

oh my god some fellow sw members! Whenever I read anything about slimming, it's usually about weight watchers!

jenk1 · 14/01/2007 14:22

Hello fellow sw slimmers!!!!

Had a really good 4-5 days apart from Friday when we went round to my mums and i had 2 peices of cake, well never mind ive been really good since and before that!!!

I read that mullerlight layers are 1 1/2 syns but are the normal mullerlight yoghurts still free?

TIA

kemsmum · 14/01/2007 14:50

the muller lights ARE still free, but i can't find the sticky toffee pudding one anywhere, which i know has a sin value. I really want to try it but none of my local stores stock it!

Surfermum · 14/01/2007 14:58

I think it's half a syn as it's got bits in it.

4lbs off for me last week and hoping to do another 3 this week, then I'm back to my pre-Christmas weight. Not a drop of alcohol since NYE and remaining chocolates being "synned" @ 1 or 2 per night. God I feel virtuous. Won't last .

kemsmum · 14/01/2007 15:00

ok people, i need a bit of help. I joined SW in June, I've lost 2 and a half stone, but lately can not resist any temptation that crosses my path, from a sneaky slice of ham when i think noone will notice, to nicking one of my sons chocolate bars! I'm slipping into my old habits, and nothing seems to stop me. I've still got a stone to go to get to target, but I've put on for 2 weeks in a row now, which i have never done before, and i have a feeling that I'll be putting on again at my weigh in on tuesday. I just don't know how to motivate myself again. It's not that I don't want to lose the weight, because I do, but i just can't discipline myself anymore

ledodgy · 14/01/2007 16:51

I've just made the veg chow mein recipe from the green book and it is so easy and so nice I reckon as nice as from a takeaway!

It's brill isn't it my veg chow mein only took 10 mins to prepare and make and it was so tasty and completly free on green!

You just fry a red onion in frying a with 2 tablespoons of wocestershire sauce and 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 2 tsps of lazy garlic for 5 mins then add whatever veg you want I added carrots, mushrooms and peppers cover and cook for about 5 mins. Meanwhile cook your plain egg noodles on the hob for 4 mins. Then just bung it all together and serve.

Chilimama · 14/01/2007 17:40

Hope you don't mind me joining this thread

I started SW almost 2 weeks ago,I wasn't that shocked at my weigh in and know I have a good 8/9 stone to lose to be a healthy weight

I lost 2lb at WI last Thurs which I was pleased with, I am thinking slow and steady is the key!

It's good to see some of you doing so well and would be nice to share tips with other people in the same boat.

I have to say I am very impressed by SW so far, I did WW 3 times previously and lost a lot of weight but it wasn't as easy to cook for all of the family (Dh and our 3 children aged 6, 2 and 10 months). But SW makes more sense somehow

chlochlo · 14/01/2007 18:23

I thought i'd join too if nobody minds getting married on 27th may and really need to get going and stick to the diet. I bought a 10 week countdown before christmas and managed to put on five pound so could really do with a kick up the backside

Fireflyfairy2 · 14/01/2007 20:25

Aww I feel pants today. Instead of just one of my sisters meeting me for a meal, the other 3 were there too!!! They had all travelled to surprise me!! I was so chuffed!! For starters I had chicken in veg (peppers & carrots) The dinner I had strips of beef & stirfry veg with rice. The 5 of us shared a pavalova so food wise it wasn't too bad!!! Apart from all the booze I drank a whole bottle of rose wine myself

Then went to the pub & danced it all off again... that should keep the neighbourhood gossips going for days

Then today I woke up with very sore pains in my abdomen, I couldn't even stand up straight.. ended up at A&E & was finally diagnosed with a bladder infection. That was after an eptopic pregnancy, an ovary cyst, & a burst appendix were ruled out!! I am in so much pain still, even with pain killers & antibiotics. I have had a slice of b'day cake though Just had chicken chowmein when all I really want is comfort food

Fireflyfairy2 · 14/01/2007 20:26

Oh Hi chlochlo, welcome
