OP posts:
lurcherlass · 09/01/2007 12:39

yeh, unless it's a 10 or a 12, then resew it to the OUTSIDE...hee hee

lurcherlass · 09/01/2007 12:41

Am I the only one who, every week, buys a carton of VLF fromage frais? I see it used so often in all these tasty-sounding recipes, so it goes on my list every week. By the end of the week, it's still lurking in the fridge, usually past it's sell-by date and I can't remember what I bought it for?? maybe it's just my age (mentalpause)...

loobysmum · 09/01/2007 12:42

Holly, liked your remark about what we will be wearing in August. I have spent the last few summers in jackets and cardigans because I feel so self-conscious about my arms and massive boobs (hope the curse of slimming world doesn't get me - if they get any bigger I'll be going into a room five minutes before I go into a room, IYKWIM!!). Focusing on being able to wear short sleeves will help keep me motivated! Lemontart, know what you mean about the recipes. Some of them are a bit rubbish, aren't they? And they look so promising in the mag. Any more ideas for jazzing up SW recipes would be gratefully received!

tiger8565 · 09/01/2007 13:04

does anybody have the fajita recipe that was on the website a couple of months back? I can't find it now, and it was was much better than the one in therecipe book, it was on a parr with the bought mixes....

BethAndHerBrood · 09/01/2007 13:19

Well, I don't know what happened there - I typed out a really long post, and now it's gone!!

The gist of it was I'm doing crap this week, that's it in a nutshell!!

Surfermum · 09/01/2007 13:22

God, my boobs haven't shrunk at all. I'm hoping they'll be the last place I lose weight as I'm going to end up looking like that woman off Big Brother. I'm now back down to a 12 bottoms but have 34H boobs. I went to get measured as I thought they must have shrunk a bit with losing 2 stones, but no, the woman said I might even need an HH.

TheWillowTree · 09/01/2007 13:25

Please may I join you all? I have 'lurked' for a few days and thank you for the password, being able to go back online and doing a food diary has helped tremendously.

I got down to target with SW two days before I realised I ws pg with ds (dd about 8 mths old) and now I need to lose the stone I put on whilst pg (and the extra half or so since ).

Ds is now 4 so I really must get down to it - my incentive is that i will be 40 at the end of this year and would like to look fab to offset the inevitable 'old' feeling ...

My scales are not good, so i may not be able to weigh regularly but I am sure I will notice it with my clothes ...

Fireflyfairy2 · 09/01/2007 15:15

Hi willowtree & welcome
Can you get weighed at a chemist or somewhere the scales are reliable? I know my home scales are totally rubbish so I tend to rely on the sw scales, though if you're not attending class then it would be good for you to have the routine of going somewhere to get weighed...??

I almost had a heart attack this morning... my scales weighed me about a stone heavier than I thought I was...Then I looked & dh was standinf behind me with his leg outreached leaning on the digital scales!!!!

BAHB, get back into it What problems are you having this week?

I seem to have ate & ate, mostly fre foods mind you. Plus I have an exam tomorrow morning & I don't know enough about the subjects... this time last year I would have reached for the multipack of crisps Last night I had one bag of Tesco select for 6.5 syns.. & still felt guilty afterwards!!

I bought some nice lingerie not that long ago so I hope my boobs neither shrink or expand!!!!!

katybumps · 09/01/2007 18:03

hiya can i join you? i did sw a couple of years ago but couldnt get to a meeting when i started a new course so gave up . im now 5 months pregnant and just found out that my big sis is coming from usa for a month in aug and i dont want to look like a heffer. figured if i start now i wont have as much to lose after the birth . wish me luck {ive been very good for last two days and have managed to resist the quality street }

mummyjx · 09/01/2007 18:42

Hi katybumps. I'm due in June and don't want to become a tank-like shape. As we will be having weird cravings maybe we can support each other. Have just read somewhere it's not a good thing to put on more than 2 stone. . Hope I can keep it to a minimum!

katybumps · 09/01/2007 18:52

would love the help and support mummyj. midwife has already told me im over weight at my 20 week scan ffs

yumiyumi · 09/01/2007 19:18

hi everyone, hope all is well,i had a green day today quorn spaghetti bol, it was horrible, taste very bland even though i added loads of herbs, anyway dose anyone suffer from painful wind on the sw diet or is it me?

BigHotMama · 09/01/2007 21:53

Hi everyone, how you all doing? Got weighed and managed to put on 9.5lb since last weigh 3 weeks ago.

I dont like quorn as have tried lots of recipes and they all taste bland to me, give me MEAT!

Done my 1st day today and havent cheated so feeling really positive about getting this lard off me ass.

Am cooking the spanish omelette tomorrow so let you know how it tastes.

loobysmum · 09/01/2007 22:17

Hi there

Got the ingredients to make the potato and aubergine bake thingy from the magazine but felt too tired to start cooking, so just had a tuna sandwich followed by two Thornton's chocolates and called it dinner . Don't think that's a very good start! Was good all day apart from that tho'. Had brown rice with various veggies and low fat dressing at lunchtime, so am well acquainted with the windy side-effects of SW!!! In fact, am suffering now! BigHotMama and yumi-yumi, try cooking quorn in some sort of sauce with a strong - or at least definite - flavour .... the quorn absorbs some of the flavour and it reduces the blandness. I hated the stuff when I first tried it; taste (or lack of) and texture but now I quite like both.

Fireflyfairy2 · 09/01/2007 22:45

I weigh in tomorrow night. Have been good all night & even resisted the twix on Saturday!! But I am sitting here eating a curly wurly Only 6.5 syns though & I have loads left so I'm ok with that

I know about the wind too

Budababe · 10/01/2007 11:24

Oh God - I don't want wind! Am bad enough at times!

My Day 2 went better than my Day 1 thankfully! Even weighed myself (as today is my "official" SW weigh day) and I have lost half a kilo which is a pound! So am pleased!

I cooked the chicken casserole dish from the magazine and it was actually very nice. Was surprised as I though it would be bland but it wasn't. Even DH liked it.

Need to decide what to have tonight now though.

August is too far away for me to use as inspiration so my current inspiration is the 2 new dresses I bought in Matalan last week for 8 pounds each that I need to lose at least 10 pounds before I can wear!

hollyg · 10/01/2007 12:09

Morning All,

I totally agree about interim inspirations too- ive written down my target at a certain date each month, like valentine's, a party or someone's bithday and put the weight i'd like to be at.

My mini target is my birthday- 27th of jan- my boyfriend is taking me away for a long weekend and want to have lost 10 pounds by then- hope so!!

ive given up smoking so my appetite is bigger than normal as well but ive found doing that and losing weight at same time helps as you dont just concentrate on one thing!

Cottage cheese salad and jackets for dinner last night and pasta n sauce for lunch- not very inspired but im knackered!

x

bucksmum · 10/01/2007 14:04

Weigh in last night and had lost 4llbs which was great although still have a little way to go to lose the 7 I put on over Christmas. Have been very organsied and planned Menu for week using new recipes from magazine plus a few old favourites. Have a free weekend coming up so should be able to stick to planb all week hopefully!

Rooicosta · 10/01/2007 14:28

Afternoon everyone!

Hollyg, well done for doing both the plan and giving up smoking! That's really something for 2007!

I'm on day 3 of following the plan 100% and it's going really well. I'm having a green day and I've just had a Ainsley Harriot Meal in 5 - spicy tomato pasta, for lunch which I actually quite liked (I know a lot who don't) and it's really filled me up (for now lol!). I'm not sure what to have for dinner though - any suggestions?

I feel really motivated and really want to do this but is anyone else having any cravings? I keep thinking about chocolate but I think it's because I ate so much of it over xmas and it's just the habit I'm missing!

My inspiration is my cruise in May and my wedding in August.

Roo x

hollyg · 10/01/2007 15:49

Thanks Rooicosta,

It had to be done and now was the time!

My long term target is for my wedding too, you've not got long until yours have you, it will fly! where are you getting married?

Cravings really bad this afternoon, just need sweets, had 3 already, first time i've had a sweet tooth this year!

Maybe because i'm so tired..yawn, think ill have a walk around the office to wake myself up!

Rooicosta · 10/01/2007 16:44

Hi Hollyg - I'm getting married in Malta on 3 August and I cannot wait! We're staying in a 5* hotel, which is also where we get married, and it overlooks the beach and sea. It looks beautiful. If that doesn't give me the inspiration that I need then nothing will! My cruise round the Med is in May also and the food on the ship is amazing so I need to get some weight off for then to allow myself to put a few pounds on! Ha!

I take it you're at work then? Me too and really bored, roll on 5pm!!!

I've just had an apple to put me on but somehow it doesn't quite measure up to that chocolate bar I keep thinking about lol!

StrawberrySnowflakes · 10/01/2007 16:58

Hollyg = Inspiration-- this summer is going to be even hotter than last year- envisage this august and what you will be wearing and what you want to wear- works for me!!!!

we're going to Cyprus this august!!!!its said to be in its 40's!!!...so your post struck a massive oevrweight chord with me and reminded me why im doing this..thankyou

Well how's this for inspiration - my cleaner asked me today if I was pg!

She is Hungarian and doesn't speak a word of English so she just gestured. I was mortified - but then caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror and didn't blame her for wondering!

I'm bloody enormous.
