I snack on grapes and make crudites and put them in the fridge and dip them in v low fat fromage frais mixed with chives.

i'm more of a savoury girl crackers and cheese type things, you know those swedish little crunchy bread you get (little loaves)does anyone know what their syn value is?

Cheers Holly x

Mazzle · 08/01/2007 15:16

Hi everyone who's doing the weekly weigh in! How did you get on? I lost 5lb this week which I'm really pleased with. The first week is always the easiest though so I hope I can keep my willpower up!

Maz xx

BigHotMama · 08/01/2007 15:53

Wow Mazzle, well done your an inspiration to us!

And thanks Joby, didnt know 1lb per week was 4 stone, when you look at it like that its bloody brilliant!

Few hours to go till I go get weighed arrrr! Havent been for 3 weeks so will be rejoining but will also check how much I put on since last class.

Ledodgy, let us know how the curry tastes.

HollyG, I weighed around 13stone for my wedding over 2 years ago now, and felt so happy being a perfect size 16, now I'm a mixture of 18-20 and still wear some of my maternity clothes.

I just want to be able to wear nice clothes as at the moment I HATE clothes shopping! Everything I try on just looks ridiculous!

hollyg · 08/01/2007 15:55

Hi Mazzle,

hollyg · 08/01/2007 16:01

Afternoon BigHotMama,

I'm sure you looked lovely but i feel uncomfortable and the dresses i like do not suit my big arms, just don't want to feel insecure on my big day.

Im sorry you are not having a good time of it at the moment with your clothes, but think of it this way, there is nothing but end of sales rubbish in the shops at the moment so nothing worth buying

By the time the nice colourful clothes come in the shops for spring you could have dropped a dress size and be back in 16 so use that as an inspiration- that's what i'm doing.

Good luck tonight, hope it goes well

ledodgy · 08/01/2007 16:03

Hi everyone I can't be bothered making the curry tonight so am having quorn burgers with cheese and red onion with SW chips and mushy peas only 1 syn in total. I've made dp and the children spag bol in the slow cooker which tastes lovely but unfortunately i've cooked it with olive oil etc plus i'm on a green day (as always!) but i'm sure they'll enjoy it!

BigHotMama · 08/01/2007 16:03

Ah Cheers Holly! Best of luck to you too hun x

mummyjx · 08/01/2007 18:27

Hi everyone, good week all round then? I forgot to weigh in this morning as I had to be up and ready for DS2's b'day (he is poorly, bless him and has slept right through his 'tea party' - did not go out for family meal as all of us too poorly for play areas! Made kiddy sandwiches and cakes instead, there's loads left for packed lunches tomorrow...) and also my 1st scan. I am almost 17 weeks (so that's one in the eye for the midwife who only had me at around 6-8! Luckily she was only holiday relief - see previous moan - or I would be a bit concerned!) Anyway, will weigh in tomorrow (if I remember, not good at mornings) though it will not be good news as we were a bit naughty and went out for fish and chips at lunchtime (to celebrate the scan) and have had a rubbish weekend due to poorlyness (I have a "mans" cold).
Re snacks: I do the same thing with grapes, so that they are easy to eat, but Tescos seedless ones generally have seeds in, so that doesn't help. I eat a lot of bananas too. One of my favourite low-syns treats is those chocolate teacake thingys with marshmallow in , I think they are 21/2 each.
Until tomorrow

lurcherlass · 08/01/2007 19:26

Ooh this is weird- I've lost 1 1/2 stone and it's gone off my waist, bum and thighs, it's very noticeable. But my boobs have got bigger!! Got measured at Marks this morning, thinking I might have to buy a smaller bra and was shocked to be told I was a "DD", for the first time in my life! Is the fat just moving from my bum to my boobs?? DH thought this was most amusing....

StrawberrySnowflakes · 08/01/2007 19:58

since ive lost a stone my boobs are 'much' bigger too?????!

OP posts:
mummyjx · 08/01/2007 20:35

This is a fab conversation, mine just get bigger and bigger - a bit like Alice in Wonderland. Where do you get that stuff she uses to shrink? God help me after the baby!

Rooicosta · 08/01/2007 20:36

OMG, just been and joined class and got weighed in! Their scales say I'm 4lb heavier than mine do! Anyway, I'm so glad I joined now and I've had my first 100% day so far! Ha!

The consultant is really bubbly and friendly and explained everything really well (not that I didn't know it anyway) but I did come out feeling really motivated, which is sooooo good - and I haven't even thought about a glass of wine! (oh damn, just did...)!

Lurcherlass & Strawberry - your last comments as VERY inspiring - I hope I lose it from everywhere but my boobs, that would be the best!

Good luck to everyone

lurcherlass · 08/01/2007 20:52

I'm not the only one then!! Funny thing is, in the past, every diet my Mum and I tried, our boobs were "the first to go" and our bum/thighs didn't change much...

Mumbojumbo · 08/01/2007 20:57

Bum! 1lb on. My target is close, but not close enough. I'm a bit fed up as I'm not synning and have upped my exercise over the last 2 weeks.

Good luck to all for good new year weightlosses!

ledodgy · 08/01/2007 20:59

lurcherlass before I started this diet I was a 42 dd I also got measured just before Christmas and am now a 38 E!

lurcherlass · 08/01/2007 21:57

Hey, they should promote this diet as a bust-enhancer. It'd be heaven-sent for all those bee-sting gals out there!LOL

loobysmum · 08/01/2007 22:51

Hi everyone!
Mazzle - that's a fantastic loss, well done you! I finally got to a class (they changed the closest one to me from a Thurs to a Mon, which is about the only night I can do; hooray!). So that's me a paid up member again. I'd still like to do the virtual club with you tho', cos it might be difficult to get to class some weeks and you lot will keep me on the straight and narrow! Starting weight is 13st 12 lbs . That's a stone more than I was last time I joined and I thought I was massive then! I'm just under 5'9" and about a size 16/18. But more 18 at the moment to be honest. BigHotMama, I know exactly what you mean about clothes shopping - it makes me want to cry at the moment! (Still at least I'm saving money ....). Will post my first loss (hopefully) next week,. (Sorry this is so long .

tiger8565 · 09/01/2007 08:36

hey you're not the only one, measured last week, was 38B now 34DD was a bit of a shock....

Budababe · 09/01/2007 08:44

Well day one didn't go too well!

Went to my sushi lunch - was nice. Unfortunately I had cake! (As a sponge cake with choc frosting for a friend's birthday.).

Was Ok rest of afternoon - DS had a swimming lesson at a friend's house and she fed the DCs afterwards - I was good and resisted snacking - just drank water.

Got home planning a nice healthy "green" dinner to find DH had gotten home early and defrosted chilli from freezer and had cooked some rice to go with it. He also (and this is unusual!!) poured me a glass of wine when he heard the car arrive!

Today WILL be better! Have just had two slices of wholemeal toast with a banana mashed on top instead of butter. Planning soup for lunch and a chicken casserole from this month's SW magazine for dinner.

Re: boob sizes - I got fitted in December at Rigby & Peller in London and went from wearing a very uncomfortable 48B or 46C to wearing a ................. 40 E!!!!!

hollyg · 09/01/2007 09:18

Morning everyone,

Glad to hear about the boobs, that's one of my worries, want to see the back of everything else but not my boobs! so quite positive about that now ha ha

Weighed in and lost 4 pounds this week which im pleased with- used 80 syns though, going to try and stick to 70 at the most this week. What does everyone else average syn-wise and does it have a big impact on their loss??

Made that lentil and mixed bean stew from this month's magazine, must say it was very bland if you do it to the recipe so i added stock, chilli powder and quorn sausages and was a lot nicer.Brought the rest in for lunch today as well so nice easy free lunch

Have a good one,
Holly

LemonTart · 09/01/2007 09:41

HollyG - totally agree with the bean and lentil stew. I am having my second attempt at SW. Worked well last year but then the summer hols got in the way and too embarrassed to go back to my class after putting on a stone
As much as I enjoy the principles of SW and know it makes a lot fo sense, I find many of their recipes in the magazine fall short of being "really" good. I love the basic stuff like SW chips but find their recipes sound good until you look at the ingreds. - eg, to make a sauce into a veggie chilli they would just list garlic, tinned toms and chilli powder! Curry would be the same but add curry powder! It reminds me of my dad?s cooking "curry" in the 80?s - spag bol. with curry powder added..
I love cooking and love my food, just wish they could come up with a few more "cheffy" recipes that go beyond just instant "curry powder" and quark! I can do my own recipes but are a bit hit and miss and would like a little inspiration outside my own usual batch of meals I turn out.

Go to say - I did a fabby salmon dish the other day. Made a rather potent brew of 2 limes, 4 red chillis, 3 cloves garlic, handful pine nuts for crunch, teeny splash of oil to bind, lemongrass. Whizzed up in magimix, smothered the salmon in it and left to marinade, then grilled the salmon with plenty of the marinade basted on top as a sort of crunchy saucey thing. Served with couscous (green day, salmon was HE), and fresh ceg. Delicious

hollyg · 09/01/2007 11:11

mmmm that salmon sounds lovely.. will definately give that a bash.

i love king prawns (HE on a green you can have loads)stirfried with chillis, spring onion tons of garlic and olive oil (i know its 6 syns but just tastes better!!)and red peppers served with noodles for a quick meal.

Inspiration-- this summer is going to be even hotter than last year- envisage this august and what you will be wearing and what you want to wear- works for me!!!!

Fireflyfairy2 · 09/01/2007 11:16

Anyone tried those uncle bens expres packets? I bought the chilli one yesterday, there are 2 syns in it Might have it later with some chicken or something!!

mummyjx · 09/01/2007 12:23

If find the whole boob thing a mystery. In M&S or when I measure myself following underwear catalogue instructions, I measure around 36DD/E (top end of the measurements I get). I actually wear a 42J and the assistant in M&S can never understand why a 36DD goes nowhere near. My sister is a 34G but my favourite cardigan which fits me perfectly will not fasten over her chest and I can wear size 22 blouses and she can't. Why is it all so weird?
I weighed in this morning and surprisingly have lost 1.5lb , not bad to say I've been eating crap because of cold, got weighed dressed after breakfast AND feel so fed up I don't really care. Maybe it will be a kick up the arse?

hollyg · 09/01/2007 12:34

mummyjx,

1.5 is great well done, try not to get too hung up about the sizes its different everywhere you go for clothes, end up feeling pleasantly surprised in some places but most of the time gutted!

Most sizes are still based on measurements of women in the 1950's and we've all got taller, broader and generally bigger in the last 50 odd years so no wonder!!!!

just get something you like and cut out the label and forget all about it! ha ha
