lurcherlass · 27/01/2007 09:32

That sounds nice firefly, I love rice pudding. Is that all it was, skimmed milk and rice (and sweetner presumably?).Will def try that, in this cold weather it'd be real comfort food!

Fireflyfairy2 · 27/01/2007 10:51

Yep, it is called pudding rice. Tesco own brand. Delicious!! I did have swetner in mine. Dh had tinned oranges as he always had those when his gran made him it

BigHotMama · 27/01/2007 11:09

Mmmm this rice pudding sounds yum! What you do you just cook the rice and add the milk afterwards? Or cook in the milk? (bit tick!)

Honey, the chickpeadahl from asda is delish and feels like your eating something high in syns (which is always good!), at our local asda its in the tinned section, on same aisle as tinned tomatoes, its in a purple tin and usually next to the vegetable balti (which isnt free unfortunatley). God how sad do i sound?

Well only good thing I've done on SW this week is refuse a curry last night my Dh was doing his best to persuade me ut I said NO NO NO!!!!!! Had jacket spud, grated cheese, sweetcorn and 1/2 pack of pasta n sauce instead.

Fireflyfairy2 · 27/01/2007 11:15

Yes, just a packet of pudding rice. get the rice (50g I think) & a pint of milk, put them both in a pan & simmer gently for about 40 minutes. (just follow the instructions on the pkt) & remember to count the milk either as your HE or syns

honey28 · 27/01/2007 12:45

The rice pudding is even nicer if you mix in a muller light after you have cooked it - especially nice with the toffee muller - I have this all the time!

Also nice for a change is plain couscous cooked with a muller light stirred through it - I often have this for breakfast and save the syns for later.

I dont use milk when making the rice pudding - i just use water and sweetner.

honey28 · 27/01/2007 12:46

Meant to say you can do it in the microwave but just keep stirring it cos it tends to boil over. I add approx a cup of rice, cup and half boiling water) sweetner and bung in the microwave - takes about 5 mins but I do it in min intervals.

ledodgy · 27/01/2007 16:10

How many syns is the smash pizza please or is it free?

shauna72 · 27/01/2007 16:20

At my parents with my DD and have even said no to a piece of cream sponge cake, killing me.HAd 16g of green and black's instead, very slowly! Is Batchelors' pasta and sauce still free?? Skinny Cow icecream also very good for sin value

lurcherlass · 27/01/2007 17:18

Do the supermarkets realise people are trying to diet out here?? Where are all the skinny cow products I've been promising myself? I got a free mag in asda and it advertised the tropical fruit smoothie lollies and the Truffle berry Fling (milk and white chocolate truffle icecream with raspberry sauce), but then didnt stock either! I was forced to lurk past the Ben and Jerrys while whippet-thin DH kept opening the door of the freezer, saying OOH this looks nice...I'm like NO! that pot of "rocky-fudge-choccy-mallow-toffee-cream" looks horrible and probably tastes horrible ..... PUT IT BACK!

Fireflyfairy2 · 27/01/2007 22:34

Lurch, Tesco do the skinny cow range. Or at least the one near me does!!

Mumbojumbo · 27/01/2007 22:41

Bad, bad day! DS1 had his birthday party and I have had a couple of (smallish) pieces of lush birthday cake...... I knew it would be a problem.....and it was! Managed to steer clear of the sausage rolls when I read on the packet that they were 80 cals each .

Oh well, off to the sports centre tomorrow at 9am and Monday morning too.....try and work it off!

Furball · 28/01/2007 07:17

mumbo jumbo - You'll probably be ok if that was your only downfall this week.

Are all the skinney cow ice creams the same? - I've bought double chocolate chip and ate it on a very cold day and it felt very odd.

Martha200 · 28/01/2007 08:39

Am quite pleased with myself. Was expecting a friend over last night (so ready to be flexible with syns!) she had to cancel and the nibbles I had got in I did not eat all of.. so only 87 syns for the day it COULD have been a lot worse.. shall save the cheeses for when my OH returns home next week

shauna72 · 28/01/2007 11:50

It's awful isn't it when you actually count up your naughty syns, but it is much better to do that and realise the work for the forthcoming week and to pretend that you hadn't had that many syns! You can get back on track tomorrow and try to stick to 5 or less syns for a few days

lurcherlass · 28/01/2007 12:39

Furball, it's all in the eating technique LOL. Yoy leave the ice cream out for a bit so that it starts to soften. You eat it in front of a roaring fire (just like the Hagen Daz ads hee hee). Because it has softened, it seems much more creamy sonehow and you dont have to bite into it, just lick it off the spoon!! You wont believe this, but before I started SW, i never ate ice cream!!

jenk1 · 28/01/2007 17:47

le dodgy-smash pizza is free on a green day as long as you count cheese as a healthy extra.

Not been on here for a few days, dd has been in hospital, ans i didnt nanage the weekly shop, dh has been in charge of cooking as she was not well and i havent done SW for days

Never mind cant be helped, back on it tomorrow.

Fireflyfairy2 · 28/01/2007 20:32

Do any of you know how many syns are in an ice-cream? I had a cone today with 1 scoop of strawberry ice-cream in when we were out It's the only syns I have had today so as long as there's no more than 15 in it I am ok Ohh wonder how many were in the cone, any of you know??

Martha200 · 28/01/2007 21:21

Cone only if medium I have it as 0.5 or large 1.0 and 1 sugar cone 2.0

not too sure about the scoop.. standard 28g 2.5 60g scoop 7.0..

Fireflyfairy2 · 28/01/2007 21:22

OOh thankyou Martha So that's 3 syns then? if 0.5 for bog standard cone & 2.5 for small scoop Thankyou!! I was thinking it would be far more

loobysmum · 28/01/2007 21:45

Hi guys

Not been on for a few days and really impressed with all the recipes and tips flying about. Lurcher, you crack me up with your comments - you should be a comedienne! Gonna try the mullerlite with ffrais thingy. Any time I freeze them they come out like bricks and take about a week to thaw down to an edible state! Welcome back JBB and thanks for your kind words - at least the person who said it gave the kick I needed ... and she's no skinny minnie herself anyway (ha ha!) Tried your tesco spinach and ricotta meat free sausages tonight ... are you SURE they're free???!!! Yummy!

Fireflyfairy2 · 28/01/2007 21:47

Oh will have to look out for those sausages then if they're nice Are they frozen or wherabouts in tesco would I find them please

loobysmum · 28/01/2007 22:45

They are frozen Firefly. You'll find them in the vegetarian section beside all the Quorn stuff. They also do a cheese and leek version but I haven't looked them up yet to see if they're free as well.

lurcherlass · 29/01/2007 14:57

Loobysmum, yeh, regular Jo Brand me!! LOL. Try the frozen yummy thing, but (if you can be bothered to) take it out every 20-30 mins and mash it all up. This will stop lots of ice crystals forming and making it crunchy. Lick the spoon (essential for quality control). As it is all free, you can test your creation as many times as you wish. Once frozen, (after all the testing), anything left in the tub is yours to enjoy.

Mumbojumbo · 29/01/2007 18:51

Yay - maintained this week at 9st 12lb, 2lb below target! . Relieved as I'd been scoffing some of ds1's birthday cake over the weekend.

Did a yummy tea this evening. Cooked brown rice, and then stir fried it with a beaten egg. Added peas, a sliced quorn sausage, and some spinach. Stir fried a bit more and then served with loads of soy sauce. Delicious (and totally free on green!)

lurcherlass · 29/01/2007 19:56

Tried the SW pasta, sweetcorn and tuna bake. Suprisingly tasty, although I did make twice the amount of "sauce" and added 2 eggs (NO, not creme eggs!...you know me so well...)
