lurcherlass · 25/01/2007 15:54

Hi Joby1970, yes thanks for reminding me. I had read about taking chromium supplements somewhere years ago. It would be worth a go wouldnt it? I'll try and find some and let you all know how I get on. Funny thing is, I dont crave chocolate every day. And often when I do, it's wheat I crave too. Maybe it's hormones?? I ought to monitor my cravings and my "cycle". Roll on the menopause I say!!

pmoore · 25/01/2007 15:58

Hi everyone- I did post a few weeks back asking if I could join you but have not been around since. Still been attending SW. First week 6.5lb loss, then 3lb loss then last night 2lb.

Really, really struggling at the moment. I think because I lost 3 stone before I got pregnant I have fallen back in to eating the same foods again as I know it works. Want to try different foods.

Just been to sainsburys to buy some strawberries and bananas want to try and make a smoothy like Jamie Oliver on the advert. It is no wonder people in this world aren't healthy with the price of fresh fruit and veg!

lurcherlass · 25/01/2007 15:59

Blossom, I meant to say you freeze the mullerlite/fromage frais mixture. But you knew that I bet! I froze a vanilla one last night just on its own and took it out before it went rock hard and it was really tasty.

laundrylover · 25/01/2007 16:19

just dropping by to catch up...well done on the pounds coming off girls. I lost 2.5 pounds this week so got my half stone in two weeks - lots more to go though!

I'm liking the tips about icecream substitutes and also about those little Green and Blacks bars - I really miss my chocolate!!!!

honey28 · 25/01/2007 19:23

Hi
Can I join in too please? Been at SW for a yer and have so far lost 18lbs. I seem to have taken the scenic route to weight loss and have been "stuck" at the same weight for several months, apart from the pounf off, pound on syndrome. Looking for some new tips to help me get past this blip as its starting to drive me nuts!

Didnt make it to group this week as my daughter wasnet well - does anyone have the password?
Thanks

BigHotMama · 25/01/2007 19:45

Honey the password is Spice

I've been so naughty the last few days feeling very guilty and fat need a good slapping!

honey28 · 25/01/2007 19:55

Thanks Bighotmama. Just had a snacksize mars and want to check out the damage!!

Martha200 · 25/01/2007 20:19

Thanks mumbojumbo!

Honey28 - I know what you mean about hanging about a weight for awhile.. that's the main reason I signed up to the slimathon to get me going again.. seeing all my sponsors on the form motivated me a lot

Have you any inklings as to why you might be sticking to your weight at the moment? Are you bored of what you're eating, sometimes a shake up in what you eat can help, so go for variety maybe?

I have been eating tons of the asda chickpea dahl recently, I find it quite yummy for something that is free and easy to get to!

honey28 · 25/01/2007 20:33

Martha, Yes I am really bored with what I am eating so trying to have "new" things. I've heard about that chickpea dahl as Asda but cant find it in my local one - maybe they dont stock it - is it with the tins?

Some people have mentioned trying success express but I can't get my head around it

Mandymoo · 25/01/2007 21:02

hi all. Can i join too please? Have a stone and a half to lose. Did SW last summer but missed a week and never went back. Joined my local group yesterday but not sure its for me - may well just use this thread as my support. Does anyone else on here not go to classes?

BENDYB · 25/01/2007 21:46

welcome 2 any new people.
mandymoo- i dont go 2 classes, i weigh myself every tue, think a few other people do aswell so u can join us if u like.x

Mandymoo · 25/01/2007 22:11

thanks - that would be great BENDYB - i found the class helpful last time but it was a different group.

So do you use your scales at home or go to Boots or somewhere for your weigh ins? I am 11 stone 2 lbs atm. Will weigh again on Tues and then set myself an aim for loss.

blossomsmine · 25/01/2007 22:53

Lurcherlass - wish I could say I did know your had to freeze the muller lite/ffrais but I didn't! So thanks for that! Weighed tonight and only lost 1.5lbs but suppose thats better than nothing. Hope everyone else is doing ok?

Martha200 · 26/01/2007 00:15

Honey 28 - I find it in the tins in the Indian/world foods section generally, if I remember correctly!

To get started on trying new things it could be useful to set yourself a goal of either cooking or trying something completely new but easy to prepare (if lazy like me at times and like quick preparation foods) once or twice a week. I did that for awhile and it helped with some motivation!

BENDYB · 26/01/2007 10:43

mandymoo-i just use my scales at home 2 weigh myself.

any1 know if chicken & mushroom mugshots r free on green??

lurcherlass · 26/01/2007 17:44

I'm making rogan josh tonite (saucy secrets recipe book). Fed up with jacket spuds!!
I've seen "scanbran" mentioned in SW recipes (for making carrot cake and also for pretend Ferrer roche). Do any of you gals know who makes it and where I can buy it?

Furball · 26/01/2007 17:55

scan bran can be bought at class and also our local health shop sells it so is there a health shop near you?

lurcherlass · 26/01/2007 18:32

Thanks Furball, we do have a health shop, I'll try and find the scanbran. Unfortunately the carrot cake recipe dosent include any cream cheese frosting....unless anyone has a crafty alternative??

honey28 · 26/01/2007 18:35

Lurcherlass - you can get scanbran in Holland and Barrett - I wouldnt rush out to get in though, its like cardboard

Furball · 26/01/2007 19:00

I quite like it especially with marmalade!

There is a recipe for the frosting somewhere in the depths of slimming world recipes - It's made with quark, sweetner and lemon juice but don't know the quantities - maybe someone else can point you in the right direction.

lurcherlass · 26/01/2007 20:42

Ah Honey, I hope that scanbran can be cunningly transformed with hazelnut spread into "ferrer roche" chocs and other delicacies!! (in my dreams), no really, I have a couple of recipes that would be worth a try...I'm presently all chocced-out by a cadburys creme egg and feelin optimistic about other treats to come...I'm gonna try to develop a "choctimising" diet and retire slim and mega-rich

Fireflyfairy2 · 26/01/2007 22:17

I have just had creamed rice!!! Free on a green day!! Made with Skimmed milk & it was the first time I've ever had it in my life!! What have I been missing!!!!

lol

For dinner I had SW chips & mushy peas with gammon. Had planned on having a fried egg but when I went to make them realised we had run out of eggs!!!!! & as I had just returned from the shops I didn't want to go back (we're about 2 miles away from civilisation)

I have to have weight off this week.. or i'll be really far behind my MIL who started about 6 weeks after me!!!!

Anyone got any tips about what to have tomorrow night? Or could I possibly have a chinese, chow mein or chop suey??? I've only used 4 syns since Wednesday. I think I might do it the way ledodgy does it... begin with the huge amount & take them away as I use them
