Well done everyone for the losses. I don't get weighed until Thursday been good but weight doesn't seem to come off me quickly so not sure what will happen. Just want a slimmer summer, you know not having to cover up all the time and worry about what to wear. Regarding these porno dvds can you recommend a good one? Oh and how many syns is a creme egg?!!

TheWillowTree · 15/01/2007 22:28

Ooo creme eggs!!!

I dare not even have one or I would never stop, and that goes for mini eggs too - I could eat them non stop for weeks ....

Well done everyone on the losses - must try to get to mothers to get weighed I think so i have a baseline.

Chilimama · 15/01/2007 22:46

According to the online syn calculator a standard Cadbury Creme Egg is 8 1/2 syns on Green and Original.

Feeling very virtuous this evening. I had the craving for bread and cheese I get every evening and decided to take my mind off it by doing a fitness DVD for an hour. Craving is now gone and is replaced by aching muscles and a cup of green tea

JackysezHi · 15/01/2007 22:48

I've just joined Mumnets and I've already spotted two threads which will be a great help to me, the James Villas and this one! I joined SW again last week due to weigh in tomorrow and hopefully I'll have lost as my halo is well in place. A standard Creme Egg is 8.5 syns

hollyg · 16/01/2007 09:26

Morning,

Weighed in and lost 3lbs so that's half a stone in two weeks so very pleased with that.
Made butternut squash bake thats on the website last night, it was lovely.

Although i lost this week am going to try harder this week and exercise more as i felt i lost my way a bit mid week.

Decided to get up in the mornings and do exercise before work from now on, but i'm always running late so hasn't happened yet! Thinking of re-joining the gym that way if i know i'm forking out for the fees, might be the extra motivation to go. i love it when i'm there just need to get back into it! Heard about this new craze for hula hooping class that sounds more like me!!

peachespaige · 16/01/2007 09:36

Thanks Chillimama, Im an on-line member but cant find where the portion sizes for the healthy extras are?

Rooicosta · 16/01/2007 12:30

Weighed in last night and lost 2lbs! Not what I really wanted for my first week but don't have too much to lose so suppose it's not too bad!

I like the frozen grapes idea too, shall give that one a try!

Was really naughty last night after weigh in though and went out with h2b for a curry! Oh dear, will probably be spending the week trying to get the 2lbs off again that i've just put back on lol!!!

Joby1970 · 16/01/2007 12:59

oops rooicosta. fingers crossed it all goes well this week re the curry ! Maybe next week celebrate with a pampering session instead .

Re DVDs I have a yoga DVD & haven't even watched it yet bought it 2 months ago.. each time I consider doing it I think it would be better if I did some cardio instead - so I do 30 mins on my mini stepper & 10 mins of swiss ball abs.

ledodgy · 16/01/2007 13:59

No you'll be fine I also have a takeaway on a Wednesday night after weigh in you still have a full seven days to diet. If you started the diet for the first time you would start the day after you went to the meeting wouldn't you?

Rooicosta · 16/01/2007 14:40

Thanks Ledodgy, I never thought of it that way! I'm going to be extra-specially good this week. I really regret going out for the curry, I feel all bloated again and didn't sleep well either as I was too full. That will teach me!

Do you tend to still lose even though you have a take-away a week?

ledodgy · 16/01/2007 14:42

Well i've lost nearly 3 stone so yes!

tiger8565 · 16/01/2007 14:42

i used to lose even if i ate a take-away or something equivalent in the week, now I don't eat any bad stuff and I'm not losing at all, grr...

what am i doing wrong?

hollyg · 16/01/2007 14:47

hi there,
i know its not quite the same but we used to have a takeaway on a friday if we didnt go out and last week i made that sweet and sour sauce from the magazine, had it with quorn fillets, home made egg fried rice and noodles and it was lovely, boyfriend had it too and he thought i was "having a night off the diet" But if you want the real thing shouldnt effect your week if you have it after weigh in or count it anyway! enjoy!

Rooicosta · 16/01/2007 15:15

Thanks everyone, I feel so much better now. I was starting to think I'd completely blown it!

hollyg · 16/01/2007 15:21

poor tiger8565!

Dont get downhearted, it can be frustrating when it stalls, i know from last time when it happened to me, i'd lost some weight even when i wasnt sticking to it strictly then couldn't when i was.grrr indeed!

What i did was had a big change so changed what i had for breakfast etc, used new recipes and used my syns on other things, like having a fresh start it can get a bit boring if you are putting the same things in your shopping trolley week after week and hopefully by doing that it will give you the kickstart that you are looking for!

HTH

tiger8565 · 16/01/2007 15:37

might give myself a fresh start then just sooo confused, i've maintained pretty much for the past 6 weeks now.

I will evaluate what to do for the next week after weigh in tonight.

I now weigh 3kgs heavier than when 17, which is nice, but I'd like to be smaller, and I'm sure i could be...just can't shift the next bit. I'd be happy if I could see 11st something on the scales instead of just over 12st....(Ihave been seeing 11st ...flashing up at a few points over the past few weeks, but I can't hold it there)

I am a heavy build and exercise 5out of 7 days (i'm training to join the forces) but I should be lighter than this....

I have porridge or maybe spaghetti on toast for brekkie, then maybe pasta and fruit (always eat loads of fruit) for lunch. most of my days seem to be green, should I do red for a while? I've tried cutting out bread, but to no avail...I just don't know what to do, just need a bit of inspiration. 1st stone came off relatively easily.

sorry for the long post I am just frustrated....

ledodgy · 16/01/2007 15:41

I never use all my syns during the week though so I suppose if I have a takeaway after weighing in it can be counted as last weeks syns iyswim.

tiger8565 · 16/01/2007 15:45

do i go for superfree? or just change what i eat? reduce the syns? or make sure I eat the syns....

I'm sooo confused, I thought I'd got teh hang of it all...

lurcherlass · 16/01/2007 16:51

How many syn sin those tiny creme eggs? Are they free coz they're eggs?....

Rooicosta · 16/01/2007 19:34

Tiger - just vary what you eat a little and maybe throw in a couple of red days a week so you get all of the nutrients you need. Saying that, the two women who lost the most weight at our group this week had total green days - one lost 6lb and the other 8lbs!!!

If you have 15 syns a day, you could always try reducing to 10 to see if that gives it a boost. Don't forget that muscle weighs heavier than fat though so if you're exercising hard it may not always show on the scales.

You also said you eat a lot of fruit, and as good as fruit is for you, too much can hinder weight loss because it has a lot of natural sugar in it. You could try cutting down your fruit intake for a while and replace it with very low fat yoghurt (dairy is good for weight loss) and vegetable crudites instead. Cherry tomatoes are great for nibbling on and have loads of antioxidants in them!

But persevere (I know it's hard!) because it will come off again soon!

I hope I've been of some help xx

BethAndHerBrood · 16/01/2007 21:21

Oh dear![blush}

I was doing so well this week, (DH away!), but have just had a dish of chocolates. I am hoping that behaving for a few days will even things out overall.

They were bloody lovely though!!!

bucksmum · 16/01/2007 21:53

Just been to class and lost 5llbs! and was slimmer of the week so that is 9llb in two weeks back on track now after christmas.

mummyjx · 16/01/2007 22:28

lurcherlass lol re your theory of mini creme eggs - please write your own diet book!!!!!

JackysezHi · 16/01/2007 22:37

Weighed in tonight and have lost 3lb in the first week - lets hope I can keep it up Hopefully my fourth return will be my most successful - I intend to keep at it this time.

Tiger8565 - perhaps your breakfasts are a bit heavy. I always have some fruit (melon, rasberries, pineapple) and a mullerlight. It kick starts your metabolism as opposed to stodge like porridge which takes time to digest.

Surfermum · 16/01/2007 22:45

I have a theory like lurcher's. If you eat chocolate at midight the syns won't know which day to go in, so don't go anywhere - therefore it's free .
