Here then BAHB, hows this?

Thanks for the ff with pasta tip! The condensed mushroom soup with pasta recipe would be ok on green wouldn't it? I did the aubergine bake from the new sw magazine today and it was horrible but I don't think the aubergines were ripe enough. Anyone know how i can tell if aubergines are ripe or not!? Oh also made the choc chip cookies in the mag and had one today, they are ok but got white choc chips by accident and think would have been much better with milk choc as the recipe intended!

lurcherlass · 14/01/2007 21:41

HI Blossom, dont forget the syns on the condensed soup- 7 syns, so you might want to share it and just spend 3 1/2 syns...otherwise, youre right, the other dtuff in the recipe is free on green!

blossomsmine · 14/01/2007 22:09

Thanks llass will share it and will make it tomorrow as NEED to have something different!

lurcherlass · 15/01/2007 09:06

Made the SW kedgeree last night with smoked haddock. It was very filling, as I used loads of rice and a tin of lentils instead of peas (it was a green day). It was just very bland. Any ideas how to liven it up? I'm sure it could be tasty if "pepped up" a bit?? Made the mixture for falfels last night. Tons of coriander and doubled all the spices-smells divine!

StrawberrySnowflakes · 15/01/2007 12:49

OP posts:
tiger8565 · 15/01/2007 13:11

frozen grapes? huh....? and eating them frozen?

bucksmum · 15/01/2007 13:24

Well done strawberry snowflakes on slimmer of the week! I have weigh in tomorrow so fingers crossed

Joby1970 · 15/01/2007 13:28

KEMSMUM - the best thing to do if your motivation is waning is to write a list of why you want to lose the weight.. try to think of as many reasons as possible - then make a few copies & pop them all over the house to remind you why you are doing Slimming World. Also take a look at old (bigger) pics of yourself (maybe stick one on the fridge door too) to remind yourself how far you have come already.

Well I'm pleased this week too - lost 3 lbs... fingers crossed for next week

hollyg · 15/01/2007 14:02

HEllO ALL!

Well done everyone on their losses, weigh in tomorrow for me too so fingers crossed, (although did have a sneaky look on sat and stayed the same so we'll see!)

Had a couple of blow outs last week one sweet and the other one on friday night in the pub but within syns so who knows??

i have to keep something in the fridge that i can pick at or i'll eat anything as always starving when i get in from work. I have frozen grapes too they are lovely,i also have a plate of veg inc carrots, cucumber, cherry tomatoes made into crudites,

a bowl of strawberries/grapes/raspberries and oranges so can just grab them or grab a cheese triangle. and make a hummus to dip (not the fruit...or the cheese triangle-IYKWIM!)

Hummus Dip-
Can of chickpeas, 2 or more garlic cloves, 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon, salt, paprika and coriander-whizz them up and then dip away.

Or just chop chives into VLF Fromage frais.

Have a good week everyone, Holly x

tiger8565 · 15/01/2007 14:25

stupid question maybe, do you not find the hummus is a bit think? breaks your carrot sticks kind of thick??? what am i doing wrong?

hollyg · 15/01/2007 14:28

Hi tiger8565,

I like mine quite thick, but you could just whizz it up for a bit longer to make it less clumpy or you could try adding some olive oil but you would have to count the syns then (6 per tbsp, if i remember correctly)

HTH

Furball · 15/01/2007 14:51

Would love to join you here.

Been battling with weight (2 stone over at least!) since ds born over 5 years ago - have always been a bit namby pamby about it and have done SW a few times and got as far as a stone then got board and gone back etc etc. Then tried WW and didn't even get to the stone.

NOW - I seriously need to get this weight off. I am sick of being miserable with how I look, with clothes, blah blah blah - I want a new look me and the only way I'm going to get one is by my.

I'm going for mostly red days as green - I eat like a horse and all those carbs do nothing for me whatsoever.

The word I want to be is SLINKY.....

hollyg · 15/01/2007 15:38

Welcome Furball,

You certainly sound determined now so hope it goes well for you this time

StrawberrySnowflakes · 15/01/2007 15:55

Chilimama · 15/01/2007 18:15

Well done all those who have had a loss this week. I can only hope I can do as well.

Have to say I am finding this quite easy to apply to all the family meals so far, which is a huge bonus.

Green day today so SW chips for tea with quorn sausages, The kids can't believe we are having chips! I have never been a chip kind of person but the SW ones are lovely!

ledodgy · 15/01/2007 18:27

Welcome newbies and congrats to the losers. i have my weigh in on Wednesday. Will deffo try the frozen fruit idea cheers. I have just had a SW fry up I ahd quorn sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried weigh watchers bread,2 eggs and beans. I'm stuffed. I'm going on a long walk with a friend at seven. I also did a workout dvd yesterday I usually do Davina but it's scratched and won't work so I dug out Pump it up which is a ministry of sounds work out from 2 years ago. OMG it's almost indecent, full of amercian girls in bikinis and one bloke at the back in very tight shorts there's alot of pelvic thrusts and I felt like i'd watched a lap dance afterwards was pmsl so much I didn't notice 40 mins fly by!

BigHotMama · 15/01/2007 18:30

Hi everyone, well done for the loss Strawberry and Joby. I got weigh-in for 1st time tonight..have been quiet good so hoping for a loss.

Thanx for the Chowmein recipe, sounds very yum will be giving that one a go this week.

I've got a thing for diet coke at the moment with a big slice of lemon and loads of ice? Ermmm had this as a craving when I was pg...

BigHotMama · 15/01/2007 18:35

Lol Ledodgy, have you seen the advert for the FHM workout? Its almost pornographic with the girls doing mainly thrusting movements and I can only imagine how many blokes will go and buy the dvd for themselves to watch in private iykwim.

mummyjx · 15/01/2007 18:41

Hi everyone, well done on those losses. Our computer broke over the weekend but it is better now. Sadly, although I feel much better I have definately gone off at a tangent (shopping with my sister on Friday, lunch at my sisters on Sunday - she makes masses of delicious yorkshire puddings. She is doing WW, and then there were a couple of shared takeaways with DH...) We did go for a walk with the kids after lunch on Suday though, and it was on a clifftop so maybe the weight will have blown off?
Re SW chips, I microwave mine with a splash of water for about 8 minutes on high, then let the steam go off them before I bake them. Saves messing about with a pan and I always overcook them that way and end up with mash, which isn't quite the same treat wise.
Wish me luck for my haircut/new look tomorrow, hoping it helps to motivate me. Will try to remember to weigh in in the morning.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 15/01/2007 19:09

BHM!!..are you trying?????...anyway, how did you get one tonight?..and this chm mein recipe??...ill have to go through and see what that is??

Chilimama · 15/01/2007 19:45

Peachespaige - I just looked in my book and the pasta HE on original is 100g wholemeal pasta/35g dried weight.

Good luck for tomorrow

Chilimama · 15/01/2007 19:46

Sorry that should have said 100g cooked weight wholemeal pasta. Trying to type in the dark and got confused!

Mumbojumbo · 15/01/2007 22:07

Well, lost 2lb this week. Just 2.5lb off target and it's really frustrating . I'm really going for it this week, I want to get to target [stamps foot smiley].

Wish me luck!

Good luck to all this week!
