Hi, I threw out my scales last year thinking that not weighing myself and relying on my clothes to tell me when I was getting fat would be a good move. Huge Error. I weigh 10st 2lbs and at 5ft 1 that is not too good. I think I've put on at least 10lbs in the last six months alone and I'm sick of all my clothes feeling tight and hating what I see when I catch sight of myself in the mirror. I bought the GI Jeans diet book, and so far I have leafed through it while shoving Quality Street down my throat at breakneck speed. Just the thought of going on any kind of "diet" makes me eat more. So good luck Mandymoo, I'll join you if you don't mind.

SNOWMANdymoo · 02/01/2007 21:43

er....... not sure! i did slimming world for a bit before so might use some of the ideas from that.

Basically, just cutting out the crap, exercising and eating my 5 portions a day! Boring but hopefully it will work in the end. Also , cutting out bread and pasta.

Come join me!

Mandy - can I join in, I'm at my biggest, but i've been saying that for about a year and really need to stop before I do get very overweight. I've just weighed myself and I'm exactly 12stone, my scales have a body fat thingy too, which is 31.9%!

DH and I are both very keen to get healthy, we really have let ourselves go, we hate exercise and love crap food and wine. DH is considering giving up booze for a while and I'm going to join him, although he's the heavy drinker I think I'm going to find it quite hard too.

anyway, I'm waffling, just wanted to start off with you all.

Hi Mandy, I'm new to mumsnet but can I join too?
I'm 5 ft 2 and 9 stone 10. I want to lose 2 stone to get back to my pre baby weight, well my pre giving up smoking weight really.
I've joined weight watchers online so I'm keeping track of what I eat on there.
My problem is I eat BIG meals and snack on bread and butter! I can cut my portion sizes down but just couldn't give up bread, cheese or cups of tea.
So, Hi everyone

Day one and I am faltering already. I am at my parents just now and tomorrow my son and I return home to Spain. So mum has cooked a big "goodbye" dinner, roast chicken, wine etc. How can I stick to my diet? Have been really good all day today but its going to be hard to stick to it this evening tbh. Also, on Sunday I have a lunch with my bf and his family as it is yet another big day over there "Kings Day" when the kids get yet more pressies and everyone stuffs themselves. Am feeling very weak willed right now. (sob sob as she says yes to glass of red wine from dad)

thundercat · 03/01/2007 17:55

How has everyone else done today? Go on, make me feel bad!!!!

chubbychaser · 03/01/2007 18:05

Hi I'm a newbie.

I weighed myself today and was 12st 3, which means I have put on about 10lbs over Xmas.

I lost almost all the weight I wanted to after No2 turned up (from 15st10lb to 10st12lb) but it's gradually creeping back on, it must be stopped!

Not sure what sort of diet I want to do, I did weightwatchers last time, which worked fine, but maybe healthy eating and excercise will do it? No idea how I can exercise with a full time job, 2 kids and no partner, but will gove it a go, any suggestions?

ClosetSlob · 04/01/2007 13:40

Hi all, had grapefruit for breakfast, soup for lunch and a WW yoghurt + apple in between. 1 cup if decaf coffee.. making a mental note I must drink more water.

BornToBeAPrincess · 04/01/2007 16:34

Well done ClosetSlob! I haven't been that good. I did well all day but an hour ago I had a bag of chocolate buttons and 2 custard creams Oh well, best get on the old exercise bike.

SNOWMANdymoo · 04/01/2007 20:19

wheresthevalium - i also have 2 children and work part time. I was lucky as dh bought me a cross trainer for xmas so i can work out in the garage when babies are in bed!! I had joined the gym but found it almost impossible to get there.

I drink about 3 pints of water a day - does anyone know if that sounds ok?

Closetslob - WELL DONE!
