So far I've been quite good today. a couple of slices of maltloaf for breakfast (no butter), a wrap with leaves, a little chicken, houmous and gratted carrot for lunch.

Haven't eaten tonight yet and dh popped out for a pint, so probably won't till later - hope to keep sensible.

BornToBeAPrincess · 04/01/2007 21:08

3 pints is about 1.7 Litres so yeah thats about right.
I've been drinking 2l and spent all day running to the toilet

SNOWMANdymoo · 04/01/2007 21:49

could we start to share meal ideas on here too please? I have no healthy meal ideas at all and need some inspiration!! Thanks X

After being good all day I fell off the wagon last night and had a hearty dinner (oops)

Grapefruit again this morning and have bought a salad to work for lunch.

Yesterday I ate home made onion soup.. probably not overly healthy but figured it had to be better than a sandwich. It was prtty much just onion and beef stock - very quick and easy and can't be that unhealthy

thundercat · 06/01/2007 15:49

Hi, I'm more or less following the Rosemary Conley book, so pactically no fat. Its got lots of recipes too. Last night I made stir fry (just wiped a little oil on the pan) with chicken and loads of veggies, some soy sauce and spices with 100g of basmati rice. It was fine and really filling. I could probably have skipped the rice but the book says you can have it so.... Anyway, good luck and stick at it everyone!

thundercat · 06/01/2007 15:50

Re. exercise, I work full time too and am also single mum and also find it really hard to go to the gym. I bought the Davina DVD last year and I do it with my ds who is 6 and loves it. He often asks for that dvd instead of a kids one!

SNOWMANdymoo · 08/01/2007 10:39

well, i started my diet and exercise yesterday (day easlier than planned!) and it feels great!

did 20 mins on cross trainer and drank loads of water. Made biscuits with dd in afternoon and did have one but officially my diet starts today so that doesnt count!!!

Hows you all doing?

So far today: weetabix and banana for brekkie and 1 pint water

Great to hear you've started Mandy!

I've lost 1lb since Wednesday, I got on the scales this morning. I did the gym Saturday and on my lunch hour today. I'm training tomorrow night and then back at the gym Wednesday lunch, Thursday night I'm going Circuit Training then nothing until the Gym again on Saturday

Today I had a grapefruit for breakfast, a punnett of raspberries and for my lunch I've just had homemade potato and leek soup. Can't remember what I'm supposed to be doing for dinner tonight which is slightly worrying!

Yesterday we had spag bol for dinner so a bit naughty but I padded out with loads of mushrooms so couldn't have been that bad

I'm eating a lot less bread now I've started making soups for lunch.. and there are quite a few low fat recipes for soup around.

SNOWMANdymoo · 09/01/2007 09:50

well done closetslob - all that exercise!

i did another 20 on the cross trainer last night and got through the day without any bread!!

Dont suppose you could give me a couple of healthy soup ideas please>?

Carry on the good work!

Morning!

11.1 today so total of 2lbs off since I joined last Wednesday.

Soup last week I did french onion and this week in healthy leek and potato recipes dead easy..

Leek and Potato
2 leeks sliced (white only)
couple of lb's of potatoes chopped
1.5 litres veg stock (I use always use boullion)
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 cloves garlic crushed
'fry light' type spray (I was naughty and used a little butter)

Warm the butter/or spray the pan with fry light.
Add the leeks and garlic saute/cook/whatever for about 15mins stirring frequently so's not to let stick (recipe said use about 1tblspn water to stop this but I didn't bother)
add the ground gumin cook for another couple of minutes or so
add the potatoes and the stock bring to the boil and simmer for 20-30 mins
blitz in blender (I had to do mine in batches)

Next time I'd use slightly more stock and add an extra leek as I found in quite thick but it's very filling and from a Low Fat recipe book. I can post the neutritional values tomorrow I have them at home. It serves 4.

ClosetSlob · 09/01/2007 10:10

Oh had Jacket Potato last night with tuna mayo (used that extra low fat mayo) and stirred in some finely chopped spring oinions. treated myself and had a bit of butter and also a small sprinkling of cheese on top then a big green salad... again very filling and the cheese/butter made me feel like I'm not depriving myself completely. Would recommend as a healthy/filling dinner option.

Today had a grapefruit for breakfast and have bought soup with me in a flask.

For snack I have bought 2 toffee WW yoghurts, some blueberries and some carrot batons.

Did I mention I have also started meal planning, I'm finding that really is helping me (for the time being).

going training tonight - am dreading it, not been for over a month and it's going to be hard!

SNOWMANdymoo · 09/01/2007 11:07

what training is it that you do? Thanks for the recipe - will give it a go over the weekend! Going to weigh myself on Friday

I started SW tonight quite impressed with the diet actually. As I am a vegetarian I will be doing the green days which means pasta, rice, and all vegetables are free foods and I can eat as much of them as I want! But feeling quite hungry right now. Oh and I weighed 13.5! never been that heavy before when I had my last baby i was 11 stone on my day of giving birth! I am 5'2 aswell.

SNOWMANdymoo · 12/01/2007 10:18

well, i weighed myself this morning and ive lost 2 lbs so now weigh 11 stone 4 lbs.

Not bad for the first week - and i did have fish and chips last night in a moment of weakness!

Anyway, this loss, albeit a small one, has now inspired me to lose 4 lbs this week and get down to 11 stone by next Fri.

I did say that i wasnt going to weigh myself as i didnt want to get too hung up on lbs IYSWIM but i guess i need to have some evidence that i am actually losing weight so i think i will weigh every Friday and hopefully that will keep me motivated.

Anyway, hope you are all doing ok XX

I also wish to lose two stone over the next twelve months, although if the first three months go better than expected i will shorten the time period. I started Jan 1st;

Jan 1st : 12st 3lb
Jan 14th : 12st

I am following the article in The Saturday edition of the times, for postnatal shaping up and weight loss ( body and soul, www.thetimes.co.uk/dietandfitness ?).

I am cutting out snacks, alcohol, and high calorie foods such as bicuits, cake, sweets, choosing veg and fruit instead ( e.g. melon, mango, celery.

I am making smoothies as treats from the innocent and Nigel Slater's Thirst books. Baby loves these too.

I am keeping a food and exercise diary.

I am walking for 30mins once every day. I am jogging once a week for 40 minutes.

SNOWMANdymoo · 14/01/2007 21:43

Hi, weighed in this morning at 10.13

exercised everyday last week except Friday, food wise I slipped towards the end of the week.

A guy at the gym I was talking to told me to try drinking hot water instead of coffee so will try that this week (I drink far too much coffee)

SNOWMANdymoo · 15/01/2007 11:40

thats fab Closetslob - my weigh is on Fri morning. Hoping to get down to 11 stone but that would mean a loss of 4 lbs this week so im not sure i will do it! Gonna go on x trainer every night apart from tomorrow so hopefully i will lose a little bit!

Carry on the good work!
