9lbs in 3 weeks, who's with me?

I've been hovering around 12 stone for 2 years now. I'd really like to get back to my pre baby weight of 10 stone 7, I've lost and gained a few pounds over the last few months and find it so boring.

I've got a big event in 3 weeks time where all my friends will be looking gorgeous and skinny. I've lost 3lb in the last couple of weeks and am currently 11.9, so far I've been avoiding carbs as much as possible and eating tons of veg. It goes well until the weekend when I eat and drink too much. Think I need to ditch the booze for the next little while.

I'd love to get as close to 11 as possible, I know it's a lot off weight in not long but if I'm really disciplined I think it could happen (maybe, possibly)

Does anyone want to join me?

Welcome Kiki, sounds like a good plan. I love the sound of all your exercise, sounds actually enjoyable as opposed to something you've got to grit your teeth and get through.

I feel a bit demoralised today, just want to eat a shit load of toast. Hopefully a weigh in tomorrow might spur me on

thanks brandnew i will start 30dayshred on the 1st of next month - research it now to make sure i can get started.

Hubbies 40th on saturday and he finally has a couple days off from work so we are going through to edinburgh to celebrate! This includes LO a sleepover at her grannies house and DH and I indulging in lunch, wine, cinema visit hotdogs yumm and dinner. And of course the obligatory fry up the morning after

Firstmum24 · 18/02/2016 11:07

Just ordered it from Amazon.. bring it on!
Sipping green tea feeling optimistic, went a lovely walk yesterday for an hour with DD in pram and really felt better for it. Same again today! I take back my weather permitting phrase I used previously because I went out for an hour on tuesday night in heavy rain and wind and I actually really enjoyed it!As long as DD is wrapped up, the pram is water tight and I have the old waterproofs on its easily doable!

Morning everyone. I'm going to have a go at 30 day shred later after work, wish me luck (you're encouraging everyone to have a go BrandNew)

I did and hour at the gym yesterday (half cardio, half strength/conditioning) and still my total calorie burn for the day was only 2100. Annoying as I'm trying to eat 1000 less calories than I burn a day to get to that magic 2lb loss a week.
But on the plus side my meal out was quite low carb and I didn't have as many calories as I was anticipating.

Had 2 boiled eggs and 2 babybels for breakfast and going to have a chicken caesar salad for tea (without croutons but with plenty of cheese and dressing). Already had a litre of water and had hot water and lemon juice instead of tea this morning. I want to keep the carbs really low today, but I might go into waitrose and get some of their posh pork scratchings in case I want a snack later.

Thanks all - I know I should give up coffee for my teeth (I also wear ceramic braces so I really ought not to be drinking the amount of black coffee that I do) and I do think it's been making me a bit...regular.

slippers I absolutely hate exercising so have found the things I like to do - cycling, swimming, yoga and hiking - which means I'm more likely to do them. I hate gyms with a passion and have tried to get into running but again it's so boring that I can never keep the motivation up to do it consistently.

30day shred is good though, I've done it a couple of times, it's nice to have a workout that shows results fairly quickly and you can do in 30mins at home!

Weighed in - am 8.5lbs above my happy weight so that's a nice boost! So am def in for 9lbs in 3 weeks, considering I fluctuate a fair amount over course of the a few days generally.

Starving already though - lunch in 4 hours. Might have to ease myself into this!!

peasareevilcreatures · 19/02/2016 09:55

Did my first 30 day shred last night and I'm still alive!
I've got a list of the exercises and I'm going to do the strength and the abs ones at the gym today after my usual 30 mins of cardio.

I think I need to invest in some new scales, if I weigh myself on my digital ones I can get 3 different weights in a row sometimes up to 6lb difference.
Does anyone have the weightwatchers body analyser ones? Have tesco clubcard vouchers I could use for those.

Weigh in day tomorrow (not on my useless scales)!
How's everyone else getting on?

BrandNewSlippers · 19/02/2016 10:29

Well done shredders! I've been a bit lax this week and only done it every other day

I'm 11 stone 7 so pretty pleased with that and feel very motivated to keep going. I find the weekend much trickier to stay on track but I'm hoping to do better this weekend as do is away which definitely makes it easier

Yay BrandNewSlippers 2lb off already!! Well done and it's not even the end of the first week yet Smile

BrandNewSlippers · 19/02/2016 11:49

Thanks peas, I am pleased but also a bit weary, I did manage 11 St 6 lb a few weeks ago and then had a few lax day and was back to 11 St 10 lb. so not sure if this is proper weight loss if you see what I mean. I need a few days of consolidation.

Have a good risky everyoneb

Well done slippers hoe it helps keep the motivation going!

dublingirl48653 · 19/02/2016 18:21

oh yes please!!!

well if I even manage 6lbs in that time I would be happy

best of luck guys

ppeatfruit · 20/02/2016 09:39

Tell you what, it's very difficult to lose weight when you've had bad nights the reason is biological; apparently there's a hormone that regulates your appetite and it doesn't work so well when you haven't slept properly. Grin

lorelei9 · 21/02/2016 10:11

hi everyone

Mind if I join you? I admit freely the chances of me losing 9lb in 3 weeks are, er, slim (sorry) as I normally lose about half a pound a week!

but I have to see the doc in about 3 weeks and a lot of pressure from there to lose weight so really need to up my game.

bit confused re caffeine. I have one cup of coffee per day - why would giving that up help weight loss?

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2016 13:03

Don't know the reason lorelei it just does, worth trying IMO and E, try it for a couple of weeks and see Grin The fruit on an empty stomach works too.

lorelei9 · 21/02/2016 17:31

I eat fruit as a snack so usually when stomach is empty? Again cinfused as to how that works.

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2016 17:54

Well if you eat fruit on a full stomach, generally a traditional meal will take longer to digest than the fruit will;so it leaves toxins that can bloat you.

It's an aspect of the Hay Diet which is old fashioned but works well too (you don't combine protein and heavy carbs at the same meal). I have done it for years and have no bloating or stomach problems at all.

peasareevilcreatures · 21/02/2016 17:57

I've gained weight this week! I'm hoping it's just because of a bit of a boozy weekend (I do log those calories too and stick to clear spirits and diet mixers).
I've done lots of exercise this weekend too although haven't done shred I've been running and swimming.
Oh well back to the drawing board and see how next week goes. I have new scales now so I'll be able to get more accurate weigh ins.

peasareevilcreatures · 21/02/2016 18:00

I'd like more tips on the bloat...I have ibs and I'm always bloated unfortunately

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2016 18:11

Try the 'don't mix heavy proteins with carbs.' peas So you have loads of green veg. with meat and or fish but not potatoes or bread.

I have rye toast and marmite for breakfast. Or just a seasonal fruit smoothie. Toast is great with tomatoes or mushrooms but not with bacon or eggs etc. You can have those with out the toast though IYSWIM.

peasareevilcreatures · 21/02/2016 18:18

I'm on a low carb diet anyway. Have cut bread, rice, potatoes and pasta completely out of my diet already.

lorelei9 · 21/02/2016 18:18

I never eat fruit on a full stomach but it seems an odd point anyway - I mean, bloat isn't actual real weight? I don't bloat anyway so that's good.

oh well, there's no miracle cure, just have to crack on.

ppeatfruit · 21/02/2016 18:22

That's odd peas !

peasareevilcreatures · 21/02/2016 18:34

It's ibs for you....I think I need to try the FODMAP diet for it eventually.
I've just started reintroducing a bit of fruit to my diet (I was doing really really low carb but now I've relaxed it a bit) to try and help with my stupid digestive system

Yambrel · 21/02/2016 18:35

I'm joining in too. I'm not massively overweight but very wobbly and uncomfortable in my clothes. I work nights and agree that it messes up your metabolism. Fortunately (?) I'm quite anxious and fidgetty so when I do cut down on food seem to lose weight reasonably well. Have a bit of a chocolate habit at the moment so need to break that somehow.

CamdenTownie · 21/02/2016 20:29

Id love to join, I started calorie counting last Monday, 1200 a day using MFP, my initial aim was to lose as much weight as possible by Easter, looking at about 10lbs to shift but ideally I need to lose just over a stone.

I lost 3 stone at slimming world last year but then the weight loss just stopped and the only way I would lose any weight was to completely cut out carbs.

So I'm giving it a go on my own, I've had a good week so far, but it's been half term so I haven't been at work, I'm trying to be as focused as possible to lose the weight.

I'm interested in the point made regarding eating fruit on an empty stomach, I've been eating fruit for breakfast every morning and it hasn't been too bad, I've not been starving hungry too soon after eating it. I also only drink decaf - although I'm trying my hardest to stick with water throughout the day, I do need that hot drink first thing in the morning.

I'm looking forward to being part of this, I can't post here frequently as I'm at work during the day but I'll try and post in the evening or late afternoon.
