Anyone out there need to lose a stone?

Twinklestar2 · 13/02/2016 19:03

I have yoyoed with the same stone since the beginning of last year. Getting fed up now but need some motivation to stick with it. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm so near yet so far!

Will be weighing in tomorrow and posting all food eaten. Feel free to join me!

I agree with lougle though I'd put the 'lag' rather shorter.

I think that may have been a snare for me in the past, because something would happen (like a boozy weekend away with a couple push-the-boat-out meals) and when I'd get back the scales would be approached nervously, but the reading much the same as before, so I'd think I'd got away with it, just carry on and then see the creep 3-4 days later. Whereas now I plan it differently, and a trip away over Easter really didn't cause a reversal, because I ate under for a few days before and afterwards (and I'll be on slightly leaner rations for a couple of days now after yesterday's excesses).

I also have a theory that if you go up, but tackle it straight away it comes off more easily, than if you let the extra pounds settle in and think they really belong.

PetersonPeterson · 19/04/2016 18:16

Hmmm, pleased you all think there's a bit of a lag. Makes me feel a bit more motivated. I expect several pounds will suddenly drop off....

twobambinos · 19/04/2016 18:57

I hope I'm a victim of the lag too. Hmmweighed this morning and was still 9 St 9. I've been good with food and exercise so hoping that it will show soon.

MegBusset · 19/04/2016 19:39

Yes to the lag - particularly around TOTM when I could eat lettuce for a week and still not lose an ounce

hinkyhonk · 19/04/2016 21:02

stella totally with you on the slight relaxation and seeing no impact so letting go a bit then it all hitting a few days later when it's too late.

My mindful eating has been interesting this week. Ive written down what I've decided not to eat. This evening I've added it up. It's pretty horrifying. Over 5 days it adds up to in the region of 2,600 calories.... Which over 7 days is about 3,500 which is the deficit you need to lose a lb a week. just need to carry on all week/forever

UmbongoUnchained · 19/04/2016 21:04

Husband had just arrived with a bargain bucket. Why?

Asshole.

hinkyhonk · 19/04/2016 21:35

LTB 😀

UmbongoUnchained · 19/04/2016 21:39

He's bought hot wings too. What a prick. Packing his bag right now.

Twinklestar2 · 19/04/2016 21:41

That's interesting to write down what you would've eaten - food for thought as they say.

Lost 0.5 at Slimming World.

It was things like a second slice of toast at breakfast, a small kitkat mid morning with the ds', half a pork pie at lunch and a couple of biscuits at 4 ish to bridge the gap to bed. Mindless eating but adds up to about 500 calories 😮

lougle · 19/04/2016 23:26

I'm back on the wagon. 1050 calories yesterday and 1000 calories today (goal calories of 1200). So that's 350 of my excess calories gone. 150 to go before I should be back to where I was.

lougle · 19/04/2016 23:29

Can I recommend the Britta Fill and Go? It's a water bottle with a filter disc. I normally find it so hard to drink water but I bought this on Friday and my water intake has shot up!

hinkyhonk · 20/04/2016 18:28

Argh. Just given the DC pizza for tea. There are 3 left over pieces. Normally I'd see at least one maybe two away. I resisted then cut my self a half slice and had two mouthfuls before I really thought about it and decided I'd rather see a smaller number on the scales. Hopefully that small amount won't make a difference. Grrr this is hard.

lougle · 20/04/2016 21:54

I think it all irons out Smile

I did well today. I put on a buffet spread for my Dad's birthday. 14 people. I ate really sensibly. Stopped when I was full. Still (just) under my calories goal. Hooray!

fadingblonde1 · 20/04/2016 22:22

I've done quite well so far this week, been to the gym twice for two 90 minutes workouts. I don't expect to lose weight though as I have two meals out planned so I'm trying to mitigate for that.

I agree about a 'lag' with weight gain. I didn't diet over Christmas and definitely overindulged but my weight on the scales didn't go up until the end of the first week in January. I was doing dry January so was expecting a loss especially as I hadn't replaced wine with extra food.

Oakley02 · 21/04/2016 07:24

Was doing really well and lost 4lbs in first two weeks, then DH went away this week and because I knew his healthy eating would be relaxed, decided to drink wine and eat chocolate and biscuits (I had bought a packet of digestives to make banoffi for weekend treat, then scoffed them in 2 days). Utterly disgusted with myself and horribly bloated. Why do we do it?

Too scared to get back on the scales so will do it after a week of getting back to no sugar, etc. Although I have still carried on with gym, walking, so not all bad.

Well done to all of you doing so well!Smile

lougle · 21/04/2016 10:13

Back down to 66.1 kg today. So just 200g heavier than this time last week and down 200g on the weight I put on when I overindulged.

MegBusset · 21/04/2016 13:01

It's my TOTM and I've slipped a bit on the chocolate intake but have still been Shredding every day. I never lose on my period, I'm 9st 9.75 at the moment so if I can stay around there for the next week or so I will be doing OK.

On the plus side I have quit my job today to go freelance so a month from now I will have more time to exercise and no office cake to tempt me :)

Twinklestar2 · 22/04/2016 12:27

I'm going on holiday in 7 weeks so that's my current motivation!

So my mindful eating â„¢ appears to have yielded a 2lb loss this week. I'm slightly in disbelief. I've not been that hungry nor have I had tiny portions. I've allowed myself to actually get hungry in the run up to mealtimes and in the most part the hunger passed and I forgot about it for a while so I can't really have been that hungry. I've made small adjustments like today I had half a bagel for breakfast not a whole one (160 cals) I had soup for lunch with a slice of toast. Not two slices (120 cals) and no extra cheese or pork pie or anything. No biscuit with a cup of tea after school drop off (80 cals) and that is 360 cals already totted up.

AuntieStella · 22/04/2016 14:01

I never quite know when AF might turn up, because I'm perimenopausal and they still turn up but only when they feel like it (anything from 3 weeks to three months!)

So since starting MFP, I've not been able to map properly whether they actually cause a mini-plateau just before, though I have been vaguely aware that they do something (I think no loss, possibly even small gain just before, rolling away the week after, but ai might be completely wrong about that).

AuntieStella · 23/04/2016 08:51

I had three very low eating days after the fling with the pizza, and am another lb down!

I'm going out tonight to a do where there will be a buffet. I have a nasty feeling I'm likely to keep picking at stuff.

lougle · 23/04/2016 15:30

AuntieStella, you'll be more aware of the calories though. For instance, I did a buffet for my Dad and did some fruit kebabs (pineapple, grape, cheese on a cocktail stick). Out of curiosity I weighed the cheese cube -8g. 33 calories just for the cheese! Funnily enough, I was happy to stick to two fruit kebabs that night instead of filling up on them between other foods!

I weighed this morning and I'm down to 65.4kg! So in just under 4 weeks since March 28th, I've gone from 69.3kg (10st 12.7lbs) to 65.4kg (10st 4.1lbs) - a loss of 8.6lbs or 3.9kg.

I'm quite amazed, considering that it's just been sensible eating with calorie control and 'carb care' (choosing lower carb options and avoiding double carbs in meals). No meal skipping, no going hungry, no extreme food restrictions. Nothing.

AuntieStella · 24/04/2016 08:35

lougle there's something in that, because I did think about the choices, though still grabbed quite a lot.

Inputting into MFP was total guesswork though, picking the higher calorie options for some , and they ting not to skimp is guessing a weight. There's still oodles of margin for error because of the need to guess so much, but my final version put me at a total for the day of just over 1300 (which exceed my current aim of 1200, but is OK as it is under the 1400 which should still produce gentle loss).

lougle · 24/04/2016 09:40

Well done!

I went out for dinner yesterday and had lambs liver with mashed potato. Then I was convinced to have a pudding by a friend. It was nice but I'm 0.2kg up this morning. It's only 200g but I'm still cross with myself!
