Good point Bostin I thought you could have it every day?? And also what about the red wine? When does that appear? I even bought a nice bottle of Pinot noir because they said that its the best sirt wine Wink

Glad to hear people are getting results - I'm so chuffed to be on Day 4 and the breakfast was absolutely delicious, and huge, kept having to read the portion sizes to check! Headache thankfully faded mid-morning yesterday, and I couldn't actually finish the dinner I made for last night. Anyone know if its OK to eat half and then save the rest for pre-bed snack when I did get peckish again? Presume not because it does say eat before 7. A tip to make the green juice more palatable add a bit of extra lemon juice. It really seems to improve the flavour. (hope this doesn't change the result though!) Rather fed up of the juicing and my juicer actually exploded last night and gave up ...:( so not sure what I'm going to do now. yes - like others I've definitely noticed a difference in my clothes. Is going to be a bit tricky this weekend as I'm away in London with the family, going to try to take some stuff away with me. Are others keeping going and doing the maintenance phase in Weeks 2 and 3?

Iobaby · 08/01/2016 11:49

I was planning to do maintenance as I guess it will be a healthy way of eating, and I will have breakfast stuff ( if it ever bloody arrives😡), although I have not dropped any weight for the last 2 days and am getting a bit disillusioned with the shopping, juicing and extra cooking if not continuing to see weight loss. Also I think that containing all this around work, life, kids clubs etc might be a step too far. I may well decide it's worth it if I can loose another 3 pounds by the end of the week though.

JoanyB17 · 08/01/2016 12:27

Day 5 for me ... Scales hovered over a four pound loss this morning - but settled on 3 pounds ( so no change from day 4). I haven't eaten yet today - need to go to sainsburys for more supplies of kale celery etc ... It's quite expensive this diet - on top of the normal family food. I have a dilemma because I am being taken out for afternoon tea at the Goring hotel in London tomorrow ! So I guess I will just have to have a day off and do day 6 on Sunday ! All this shopping , ordering , chopping , cleaning the juicer .... It's almost a full time job ..

heronhooray · 08/01/2016 16:47

I have been trying this for 5 days now . I did buy a juicer and like the taste of the green juice very much! I cheat on the second 'juice' of the day by simply adding the fibre residue from the juicer to some home made vegetable soup for lunch. I have managed to buy buckwheat and buckwheat noodles on Amazon.I also bought ( on Amazon) freeze dried blackcurrants which I rehydrate and stew to have with a small amount of yoghurt. So far I have lost nearly 5 ibs and am very pleased with the way i am feeling ( not too hungry) and energised I will certainly persist.

artifarti · 08/01/2016 17:04

Day 3 for me and I woke up with a raging sore throat. By mid-morning I felt awful so had to cheat and eat some muesli. After that I felt better. Am also v disappointed about the chocolate disappearance although I'm looking forward to being able to eat two meals from now on!

Re the buckwheat, you can toast it in the dry pan for a while before adding the boiling water.

chickenlips · 08/01/2016 19:21

I'm going to have to cheat tomorrow night too its my son's birthday and we're all going out for a meal in London. oh well - life can't stop can it ..

Dander8848 · 09/01/2016 14:19

I have been doing this since Monday and started making the juice with a Nutri bullet but after 2 days dug the old juicer out of the cupboard with old stuff in it as the nutri bullet juice was, I thought, noxious green sludge (very possibly toxic!) and utterly repellent. With the juicer (Kenwood) it is much much better - more like V8 - and surprisingly drinkable (probably better with vodka in it). The nutribullet version was making about 1 litre of the sludge, whereas I end up with about 200-300ml with the juicer. Also, if you are looking for Buckwheat grain then Holland & Barrett has it and Buckwheat puffs for the muesli. Waitrose had the Buckwheat (Soba) noodles. I feel better and think I have lost about 7lbs in 5 days. I am sleeping well and wake up with with a fair amount of energy - but that could also be the blood flowing back into my alcohol stream.

Feldgate · 09/01/2016 16:02

On day 4 now but have given up with the juices - had 2 on day 1, 1 on day 2 and 3 and none today as found them really uninspiring. Ate an apple instead, added extra kale and lemon juice to meal .... Can't believe it will make any real difference. The meals have been pretty good though - too much chilli in the salsa last night but otherwise have enjoyed them and as have lost almost 4lbs already so pretty happy. Have bought a couple of recipe books off amazon so will try to incorporate principles into diet during the week to see if I can drop an extra few pounds after this week as have about a stone to lose.

Tryingtocatchup1 · 09/01/2016 21:47

Dander8848, what kind of juicer do you have? I'm on day 4 of nutribullet sludge and losing the will to sieve it plus I seem to be finding splodges of it all over the kitchen!!! And does your juicer take the veg/fruit whole? Am impressed with the food though - really delicious meals and 3.5lbs lost so far - am sceptical whether scales will budge tomorrow after being allowed to eat 2 meals today (thankfully - I was getting in a bit of an evil mood!) but will see! Am game for keeping this going if it really does work though and if I can make the juice less sludgy it will be much more bearable longer term. Fingers crossed for the scales tomorrow for everyone. I'm really valuing this thread - really encouraging to hear how everyone's doing - thanks all.

Feldgate · 09/01/2016 22:26

Tryingtocatchup1 - what are you using to seive it ? I bought a nylon mesh nut milk bag from Amazon and it works brilliantly .... Pour the sludge in from the the blender, give it a quick squeeze over a bowl and you are done. Cheap and easy to clean - I also have a centrifugal juicer but it doesn't deal with the greens well and is difficult to clean properly so never use it.

Bostin · 10/01/2016 10:02

I've not lost anymore after gong up to 2 meals a day. Not sure I want to eat 3 meals from tomorrow onwards as I am worried I will gain weight.

JoanyB17 · 10/01/2016 13:22

After a day off for afternoon tea yesterday for my birthday - I was about to resume day 6, but seriously couldn't face more capers and buckwheat for my brekki. And I think the two meals are too much ... So have decided to continue with the juice , I had strawberries apple and one date with yoghurt for brekki and will have the day 6 dinner tonight. Think I will continue with that for the week ahead. I agree with someone above that two meals in this diet are too much and difficult to lose more weight .. And three meals in the maintenance plan would be enormous . I only want to lose 7 pounds to get me back to my perfect weight of 8 st 10. I think these meals are too much . And I am beginning to hate kale ! But I will continue with the dinner recipes

BlueHisqmt · 10/01/2016 16:00

I was feeling like I wanted to give up. I'm not a fan of the juices, although sieving has made a difference, in the longer term I was wondering about a higher concentration of apple juice to mask the flavour of the greens. JoanyB17 you have kept me going with your pictures of meals and today, day 6, it appears that I have lost 4.5 pounds so the question is: should I do week 1 again or move onto week 2? I have cheated a bit, only 2 juices not 3, eaten the occasional apple and guesstimated the amount of chocolate I could eat, and repeated some meals because I am veggie, and not prepared to cook every night.

artifarti · 10/01/2016 16:19

Day 5 for me and I just cannot face anymore of the juice. I had lost 3.5lb but, again, nothing since adding the extra meals. The meals are nice but they do seem to be enormous. Re the weight loss, I don't think you are meant to lose 7lb in the week because you are also gaining muscle. I think it's supposed to work out at more like 5lb loss on the scales (will check that in the book...)

artifarti · 10/01/2016 16:31

Yes, here we are on p12: "For 64% of our participants, the losses on the scales initially appeared more disappointing [than 7lb]...with a weight loss of just over 5lb...The average muscle gain for this group was almost 2lb, giving what is called a 'muscle gain adjusted weight loss' of 7lb."

So Blue I guess 4.5lb is about right after 7 days?

BlueHisqmt · 10/01/2016 16:39

Thanks Artifarti, a bit disappointing, but still a result. The real question is what to do next week. Do people what continue with week one loose weight or is it a case of diminishing returns?

JoanyB17 · 10/01/2016 17:07

Blue - can't remember if I posted the cod pic ... So here it is again .. Think day 5. Am doing the sirloin steak in red wine tonight so will post that later !

Anyone tried the sirtfood diet?
BlueHisqmt · 10/01/2016 18:15

Thanks JoanyB17, it's a big help.

JoanyB17 · 10/01/2016 19:59

Oh no ... Forgot to take pic of the steak in red wine sauce ( day 6) .. Guess I was so hungry ! It was nice tho, and the sauce quite tasty . Felt like a normal dinner .. Although there was still kale Obvs. Might have a square of 85%choc tonight 😳

SydneyJEMS · 10/01/2016 21:13

Thanks all for your input to this blog - I have found it very useful and encouraging. I am just starting day 5 of the Sirt diet and have a Nutribullet. I agree with all using this machine, the sludge is uch, so as suggested have been fine sieving the mixture which is much better. I am still on 2-3 drinks a day with a meal and red wine at night and that piece of chocolate. The meals are huge and kale is the pits.
I'm in the Snowy Mountains of Australia and have taken time from what the family normally eats to undertake this diet. I read the diet online via The Times website.
I find if I forget the celery it effects your fluid loss so it is back in the mix. I have frozen the kale into serving sized freezer bags so that it lasts the 10 days we are away. This was a big concern as there are only a few shops 45 mins away.

I had difficulty getting the buckwheat flakes and puffs so just went with a gluten free option.

I have continued with the chocolate and wine past day 3 as these are still sirt rich foods. Thanks all for your inputs as it has helped keep me going. Oh and weightloss? I don't know as we don't have scales where we are staying (very remote) but I feel well and non-bloated and my clothes feel looser.
In all I feel this diet worthwhile - but easier to do when I am holidaying remotely away from shops and temptations. Those who can avoid temptations daily in the shops - well done!
I decided to post as I didn't feel it right to be a silent beneficiary of all your input.

Tryingtocatchup1 · 11/01/2016 09:33

Feldgate, thank you so much for the tip about the milk bag - I have bought one from Amazon as recommended as excitedly await arrival - I think my sieve is definitely too open and just bring able to squeeze a bag should be a big improvement. Slightly demotivated today as am on day 6 and after 2 days of being able to eat 2 meals I have gained 1lb of the precious 4lb loss so now only 3lb in total. It's still a good loss by my standards in the short time, but for all the expense and faff I'm wondering if really worth it. Still 2 meals today but will cut down on the portion size of the lunch and see how it goes - cannot face returning to one meal again just yet. Trying to change the hope to 5lb loss in 7 days instead of 5 but am sceptical.

Bostin · 11/01/2016 09:47

Day 7 done and I am 1lb up from yesterday and 6lbs down overall. I do feel good on it but am considering my next steps as not sure I will lose anymore if I carry on.
There is a chance the gain is muscle I suppose.

penpen14 · 11/01/2016 11:54

I've got through week 1 - the food was fine but there is no change in weight or appearance! Other than a single cheat glass of red on Thursday, I've stuck to it religiously, so a little disappointed in the results. I do feel healthier so I'm going to stick with the general principles and see how it goes for a couple of weeks. I've got a nutribullet, rather than a juicer, so I've been sieving all my drinks to lose the fibre. A total faff but I was trying to stick to all the rules Smile

JoanyB17 · 11/01/2016 16:27

My buckwheat puffs have finally arrived as I finish week one ! I hope I like them - there are FIVE big boxes !!!!Confused
