yes you can have 15-20g of the chocolate - I got the book and it says so! Glad I wasn't the only one confused by the difference between a nutribullet and a juicer ....really amazing how much kale you need for a tiny drop of juice isn't it! Really felt very hungry by the time I had my dinner but I thought the cauliflower was delicious. Not looking forward to 2 more days of this to be honest hope it makes a difference !!

Peter5678 · 05/01/2016 22:00

Hi all
I started this diet on Monday having downloaded the kindle book. I have been making the drink using a nutri bullet and it's coming out fairly thick and tastes disgusting and looks like I've blended kermit the frog. However, it does fill you up and I've felt really energised at work. I've enjoyed shopping for all the sirt ingredients and the evening meals are really good and very large portions. The birds eye chillies are awesome!

I'll be glad to reduce the frog drinks to just two per day and increase the meals to two a day although I can't seem to find anywhere that sells the right buckwheat for the muesli.

As I'm having a dry January I thought it would be a good time to try this without worrying about booze and socialising and I could do it accurately. So far though, I'm enjoying it.
Happy new year everyone !

I am on day 3 and am 4.5 pounds down (disclaimer: I am on medication that makes me retain water, so all the Xmas salty and sugary foods had bloated me big time. Day one of this I was peeing like a horse).
There is a section in the book about why the juice is better without the pulp I can look if anyone is interested. The juice is less filling but much easier to consume.
Also you are meant to space out the juices throughout the day and at least 1 hour between a juice and a meal. All to be consumed before 7pm.
I haven't been too hungry in the morning but my tummy has been grumbling in the afternoon but the meal portion is very substantial.
I have cheated a little in that I have just picked the meal I liked the sound of, so yesterday I had day 1 and on day 2 I had a sirtfood salad from the book which was delicious and I will probably have this tonight.

Bostin · 06/01/2016 06:57

Sorry I meant I had the salad on day 1 and the prawn noodles on day 2.

Igneococcus · 06/01/2016 07:17

I would like to know why the juice is better bostin if you don't mind.
How much is the book on Kindle?

Miloarmadillo1 · 06/01/2016 07:25

Me too bostin if you would oblige! I suspect it's because you can drink more kale juice than you'd eat kale pulp - I think it would take lots of kale etc to produce the recommended 50 ml juice.

Hit a slight snag in that DD was up yelling during the night, not sure if it was teeth or sore tummy. Worried she can't cope with second hand kale! She is 18m so only BF a bit for comfort, and I'm not doing the 7 day plan, just had one green juice instead of one meal as going the whole hog seemed too drastic and dropping weight quickly a bad idea whilst BF. Will do another juice and hope it was a coincidence.

Hello, I have had to give up my beloved low carbing due to gallstones Sad so I thought I would give this a try. I am using my nutribullet and then seiving the pulp out as I can't stand the texture otherwise.

I have been doing it since Saturday and have noticed that my stomach has gone down dramatically.

I have got used to the juice and now think it is nice!

Bostin · 06/01/2016 10:16

Ok so reasons for juice rather than whole foods:
Having some of your sirtfoods in the form of juice can have big advantage when absorbing their nutrients. For example the sirtuin activator EGCG found in matcha green tea is absorbed more (65% higher) in drink form without food.
The book acknowledges there are benefits to be had from whole foods too:
'The key is to get the best of both worlds by combining the two. Vegetables like leafy greens have low levels of NEPPs (non extractable polyphenols) so are much more suitable for concentrating through juicing, whereas other, higher fibre sirtfoods are more appropriate for eating whole...'

Iobaby · 06/01/2016 12:13

Thanks Joanyb17 and chickenlips, I will get some when I do the school run😄. I don't seem to be getting the correct volume of juice so weighed everything to make the third ready for later, and it turns out I have been using way too little of greens, also the apples I got are small. This may account for hunger pangs ( fairly mild) although I have dropped 4 pounds in 2 days!! Only 2 more of xmas extra to go, then all else is a definite bonus. Also I have failed to get matcha, and have ordered buckwheat flakes and puffs from website. I hope they will arrive by tmrw, as I am looking forward to breakfast. Sounds like I should get the book too. Well done so far everyone

antimatter · 06/01/2016 12:16

do they use slow juicer or an ordinary one for their green juices?

Thermalnermal · 06/01/2016 12:31

I tried making the sirtfood smoothie in the blender, not all that palatable, not only weird tasting but lumpy as well. Kind of hard to get down. Might try juicing it tomorrow.

Tryingtocatchup1 · 06/01/2016 12:54

Lobaby where did you order your Buckwheat flakes and puffs from? Sainsburys don't have them.

JoanyB17 · 06/01/2016 14:05

I have ordered matcha tea ( have had to improvise by using matcha blended tea bags for now ) , buckwheat , buckwheat flakes and puffs , cocoa nibs all from Amazon. Hooping the puffs and flakes come in time for brekki tomorrow - there's a parcel for me at the post office so am hoping it's them! I have lost 2 pounds so far ( on day 3 ) but am not feeling too good ... But will persevere . Really glad I am not working this week - just had dose two of today's kermit juice ... Love that ref from above !

JoanyB17 · 06/01/2016 15:10

My matcha tea just arrived - it cost £15 and it's a very small amount !

Tryingtocatchup1 · 06/01/2016 15:10

Thanks I'll try ordering from Amazon. I've just started today and had 2 juices so far - it's definitely going to be an acquired taste - at least you only have one juice a day after week 1! I'm using a nutribullet and sieving after - bit of a faff but won't mind if it works as it says! Looking forward to prawn noodles and chocolate tonight though! It will be interesting to see how it works for everyone after 7 days.

Tryingtocatchup1 · 06/01/2016 15:12

Crikey that Matcha is expensive! I've improvised using Maycha bags from Sainsburys but it's probably the wrong thing.

Thermalnermal · 06/01/2016 16:04

I put the sirtfood smoothie through the juicer. it was much easier to get it down in juice format, no lumps! I did add some extra apple juice to make it taste slightly better, but I wouldn't call it enjoyable. All those ingredients would probably make a nice soup.

Thermalnermal · 06/01/2016 16:07

Being a matcha virgin I ordered the ceremonial grade matcha. Previous green tea experiences have been bitter even with water off the boil. I was pleasantly surprised by my first cup of matcha. I will probably order culinary grade next time as I think the expensive ceremonial grade is wasted in the juice. Or I might enjoy my matcha seperately from the juice.

BlueHisqmt · 06/01/2016 19:05

Thanks Penpen14 for your tip about the sieve. It's my second day and chewing through the pulp of the drinks made in a nutrabullet nearly made me give up. I'm not feeling great at the moment because I have a cold, but who knows this may help me to recover faster. JoanyB17 tip about the capers and cauliflower couscous meant that I tried the veggy alternative. If you have any further tips about the meals please share.

JoanyB17 · 06/01/2016 19:23

Here is day three's dinner . Aromatic chicken with buckwheat kale and tomato salsa. I just fried the chicken - didn't bother with the oven part . The buckwheat was actually quite tasty. The tomato salsa was , for me spoilt by the capers - I have enjoyed capers in the fish pie in the past but I really don't think I like them in these recipes - might have to leave them out . The meal is very filling - I was very hungry but still find it hard to finish!
Looking forward to having the muesli tomorrow .
And especially looking forward to my 15g of chocolate with a cup of decaf coffee later

I ordered from www.healthysupplies.co.uk, but am a little concerned that I have not had a confirmation email, although do have PayPal reciept. I am hoping that they will be here tomorrow so I can have them on Friday. I will try tabboulah salad for lunch tmrw instead, and look forward to breakfast day after instead. I guess I will have to get some ( expensive) matcha too. I have struggled today as my ds and dd did not sleep last night so I am knackered and have the beginnings of a cold, so am craving comfort food. I am also finding making multiple meals a real pain. However, I am hoping for a small loss tomorrow to keep me going. Agree with BlueHispmt re meal tips 👍

Tryingtocatchup1 · 06/01/2016 20:49

Wow, I made the first meal tonight (prawn stir fry with buckwheat noodles) and it was gorgeous. Have just eaten the chocolate as well - can this really work?! Confess that after 3 juices today, made in nutribullet then sieved (so probably too thick), I am not entirely thrilled at the idea of 3 more tomorrow but will keep the faith and keep going! Hopefully day 2 dinner and chocolate will make it worth it. Will definitely be making the day 1 prawn meal again though - loved it!
Lobaby I swear by Echinacea for colds/feeling done in but you may have tried it already. Hope you feel better soon.

chickenlips · 06/01/2016 22:07

On evening of day 2. Have had a permanent headache for about 48 hours now. Would be bearable if not for this....have had intense periods of feeling very weak and hungry and have dropped my normal daily exercise because I worried I would feel even more hungry! Got no energy at all - still waiting for this energised feeling! Headache may be related to time of the month- not sure. Work was very difficult could not focus in meetings...:( Only got one more day to go then can have two meals so will persevere as stomach definitely looks a lot smaller. I made the cauliflower couscous and turkey escalope dish last night which was absolutely gorgeous. (I've been slightly cheating and making double quantities and putting in fridge cos I'm away at the weekend and will need supplies in for then) Have also done prawn and buckwheat (yummy). Bought most things from Ocado - matcha tea, buckwheat noodles, flakes and puffs. cannot get roasted buckwheat though (out of stock on Ocado) and lots of the comments on the internet say that the unroasted stuff turns into mush when cooked. Anyone got any experience of this?

chickenlips · 06/01/2016 22:19

Forgot to say you can get 2 matcha teas (PureChimp Super Tea) for 11.95 on Amazon which is better! and Ocado have their Bloom ones on half price £8.49 for some of the flavours. I got the ultra cleanse one. Really impressed with everyone's efforts and also motivational to hear of people who have been doing it longer - really helps to know that it does work and is worth keeping going :) thanks everyone

Peter5678 · 07/01/2016 05:33

Hi all
I'm on day 4 today and dropped 5lbs since Sunday. The one meal per day was fine, I even trained twice and felt OK, if a bit nauseous sometimes. I'm down to 2 green drinks; the part which I find the hardest. That and shopping for the correct ingredients. I can see myself doing this long term as I'm not missing bread particularly and the main meals are really tasty, as most have said. I can see myself being good during week and socialising with alcohol at weekends. I can never stop some booze; life would be pretty dull without the crack of a few boozy lunches! Very best wishes to all...
