I have 10 stone to lose overall. There, I said it. No going back now. I miss riding my horse, I miss being happy and I have a toddler that doesn't want a sweaty elephant for a mum.
Anyone want to join me for some moral support?

I've PMed too and really looking forward to having others to matter to for support! I know I can do this but often just give up-hopefully this will be the necessary kick up the bum! We'll do this and WON'T fail (I hate failing too DepicableMeh-similar age to you and determined not be slim and ahem...gorgeous?! by 40!)

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/01/2016 13:36

We won't fail! We won't let that happen!

stopfaffing · 02/01/2016 13:38

Can I join you all .

I woke very early this morning pondering this question, and thinking "I'm gonna post this on mn, I know I'm not alone with this problem".

The question? Why, why, why can't I commit to make the (relatively) small changes to improve my health?

For example, I was considering doing three things each morning that I don't usually do 1) do a ten minute session on my vibrate machine 2) do a combo walk /run round the block for ten minutes (that's just 20 mins in total) 3) have breakfast (porridge).

I bet that over the year it would make some sort of impact on reducing my (8 extra stones) weight, wouldn't it?

Why is it such a big ordeal to start doing it?

Am I afraid to fail? (I think so) or afraid to succeed? (oooh, too deep for me, that one Grin)

Please help me with a virtual kick up the arse Blush.

Bocolatechiscuit · 02/01/2016 13:40

'To NATTER to' and 'determined TO be slim' of course-bloody phone!

iMum · 02/01/2016 13:51

PrincessHairyMclary · 02/01/2016 14:24

For those with a fitbit.
Go to the fitbit site> community> search for mumsnet and Join. I made a chat space for 2016 Mumsnet Losers where we can add each other as fitbit friends and compete to maybe motivate each other.

Just check your privacy settings to make sure you aren't sharing anything you don't want to with friends or everyone.

PrincessHairyMclary · 02/01/2016 14:26

Bocoate I'm also emptying the house of Christmassy stuff.

Exercise started yesterday, weigh in on Monday and then healthy eating the following week once I've survived the first week of term an no more junk in the house.

CaffeineBomb · 02/01/2016 14:30

Bocolate that's what I'm doing too. Probably put on an extra couple of pounds though Confused

laceysmom · 02/01/2016 14:59

Hi, can I join too, have weighed myself this morning 12 stone 10 pounds, at 5 foot 2 thats me in the obese BMI section. Need to lose 3 stone to get to top of normal BMI. Have also sent a link request for the fb group.

CishAndFips · 02/01/2016 15:29

Just marking my place having caught up on the thread. My aim for the next two weeks is to stop picking in between meals. This is my major downfall so focusing on that until I do my main shop mid month.

AtSea1979 · 02/01/2016 15:34

I like the Fitbit idea

Iammostseriouslydispleased · 02/01/2016 15:37

I hear you stopfaffing!

I have been saying it for four years.

Small steps.

Does anyone use My Fitness Pal at all? The reason I ask is I found it very helpful when I used it last time around along with slimming world. Basically, I was eating a low fat diet and MFP helped me keep the Carbs and calories under control as these are free on Slimming World and it's easy to go overboard.
I found it really shocking when I realised just how many calories I was consuming even though everything I was eating was low fat!!
Having to fill it in everyday also kept me on track and it was when I stopped doing this that I started gaining again.
For those of you who haven't used it, it's definately worth a try. It's really surprising to see how many calories are in things that I didn't really think about. It gives you an idea of how many calories you should be eating as well in order to lose the amount you want in the time you want.

It's here if you haven't seen it before www.myfitnesspal.com

Christinayangstwistedsista · 02/01/2016 15:44

Me too please

I used to be so slim but moved abroad about 5 years ago and have put on five stone, I'm tired of feeling bloated, uncomfortable and old with it!

AtSea1979 · 02/01/2016 15:46

princess it isn't showing anything. I'd there a link please?

missy111 · 02/01/2016 16:24

Hi all
If you're not wanting to join the FB group, send me a pm and I'll send you a link to the spreadsheet I've set up

Wahhhh · 02/01/2016 17:37

I'm still definitely in. Weighed in today at 14 stone 7- gutted. Starting properly on Monday. I'll pm for the link, if that's ok.

jorahmormont · 02/01/2016 17:44

I'm in. No idea how much I want to lose but as much as possible ideally. Joining a group in the hope I'll be able to lose it sensibly rather than my usual method (weight is fluctuating madly atm due to bulimia). Will PM for the link.

Arkkorox · 02/01/2016 18:28

jorah however we can help we will.

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/01/2016 18:32

jorah what ark said, we will help however we can. Just one question, have you seen your GP re the bulimia? Don't feel you have to answer, I just thought I would check as its not something you should try to deal with alone. Flowers

jorahmormont · 02/01/2016 18:38

Thank you :)

I'm stuck in a vicious circle of being too anxious to go to the doctors, giving myself two weeks to "fix it", not fixing it, giving myself two more weeks etc. I convince myself time and time again that I can "fix it". DP is doing his best to help me build up the courage to go to the doctors and get some help with it. Fingers crossed I can do that alongside losing weight sensibly with this group :)

FattyNinjaOwl · 02/01/2016 18:53

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. You've gotten over the first hurdle and reached out to us, so you're getting there.

stopfaffing · 02/01/2016 19:19

Have pm'ed you for fb link, Arkkorox Smile.

imustbepatient · 02/01/2016 19:39

Please can I join too? I'm going to be 40 in a month or so and had sworn I would lose the baby weight by then. Given that the first baby started school this year it seemed a reasonable target but sadly it would seem not.

I am feeling so inspired by your thread though and finally feel like my head is in the game. I just need my body to follow.

I will try and find / PM for the Fb group too. The more accountability (privately though of course!) the better!

myrosie · 02/01/2016 19:44

I too would like to join please. I've pm'd for FB group. I haven't dared weigh for months, but I know from my clothes that I've put on a lot in last year. I reckon I have at least 5 stone to lose, really more, but even to lose 1 stone would be amazing.

I just cannot get started, I hate to say no to myself, I feel I have few pleasures apart from eating - sad I know! But actually if I could lose, I would enjoy life so much more. When I saw this group where many have a fair bit to lose, I thought mayb it's meant to be.
