Pedometer Club! Anyone interested?

charlieplus3 · 18/05/2004 09:42

I have just invested in a pedometer (all of a fiver off e bay). Anyway after discussions in the late bar the other night with Nutcracker, Madamebutterfly and others i thought it may be good to record how many steps we do each week.

So anyone with a pedometer could join in, do you think this is a good idea? We could maybe start in a few weeks when people have had a chance to eat through thier special K and order a pedometer IYSWIM

blimey C+3, have worn mine yesterday and today and managed around 5,000. I've got to double that. No wonder i'm so lardy

charlieplus3 · 25/05/2004 16:52

Kayliegh you are not lardy!!!!!!!! Bet i get alot less tomorrow as no housework to do. Do you think i should wear it to my excercise class tonight

OP posts:
Kayleigh · 25/05/2004 19:45

I would C+3. It's all exercise so therefore it should count. I am upto 5,500 today but have been working from home so really haven't done much walking. Tomorrow am at work which means walking to/from station etc so should get a bit more walking in. Will walk the long way round to lunch as having a meet-up in the city in a (whispers) pizza place!

emmatmg · 27/05/2004 16:48

Sent my tokens off the other day so will join in properly ASAP.

Mermaid2 · 27/05/2004 17:22

My pedometer arrived today so I'm going to start using it once I work out how to use it. Can't be too hard.

lilibet · 27/05/2004 18:03

I've been wearing one for a few weeks but would love to join as I need the encourgement. I have started doing things like parking at the far end of the car park when I go tothe supermarket. Its fine when the weather is nice

roisin · 27/05/2004 18:31

Tommy - thanks for the tip about Geobars - they are SCRUMMY! 2 points each though, but worth saving up for

My pedometer arrived today from Ebay, and made me feel great. I put it on at 3 to go and fetch the kids (it is quite a trek, but we always walk twice a day) and by 4.30 - after pottering around in the garden - I'd done 4500 steps. Does this mean I'm fit? The bulk of my walking is to and from school, but half of it is with kids, and at the end of the day they are very slow ... So in my mind that doesn't really count. I try and up the pace a bit when I'm on my own though.

MadameButterfly · 31/05/2004 21:15

Quick question.

In the summer I like to wear any dress I can get into. Where do you put the pedometer then?

Mo2 · 31/05/2004 21:23

I've had one for about a month now. Have only managed the 10,000 steps on 2 of the days I wore it - at weekends - since I work in an office and have a fairly sedentary job

Am going to have to start finding some other places to walk!

Anyway - I'm in - will wear it tomorrow, but am going hillwalking after work so may manage to clock up the 10,000!

Kayleigh · 31/05/2004 21:23

Hmmmm MadameButterfly. You'd probably have to wear a belt under your dress. Comfy !

Or wear very big knickers and stick it on the waist of them

charlieplus3 · 04/06/2004 15:47

Sorry folks have not forgotton about our little step club. We could start this saturday if you like. Count all your steps from sat to sat and ill post them up alltogher on the mon or tue. NO CHEATING!!

I have been a work all morning and done hardly anything so my previous bragging about doing most of the reccomnded amount before tea time has totaly gone to pot.

I want to do this but my Special K pedometer hasn't come yet, though it's been about 4 weeks. Will join in when it comes!

Beccarollover · 04/06/2004 16:31

Ive just bought a pedometer on ebay - when it comes I will be joining you!

What are the rules? 10k steps a day?

charlieplus3 · 04/06/2004 20:06

No rules becca just do as many as you can. 10k is the reccomendatipn for fit for life i think.

Watch out as kids jumping on you can knock up your score as can bumpy road journeys and bouncy castles.

13,859 today! I'm knackered!!!
That includes taking DS2 out in the ppushchair for a sleep and wandering around a country park... phew

(And I managed over 10,000 last 2 days too...)
What's the new icon for a smiley with a halo?

charlieplus3 · 09/06/2004 12:12

Mo2 Please stop bragging i have been so crap at it this week. Shall we start nest week instead?? Ive only had one person email me anyway so not sure how many people are joing in. So ill give it one last go.

From saturday the 12th to Sat 19th, record your steps from waking to sleeping. Take off your pedometer if doing anything physical lying down like playing with kids i mean or this will knock up your steps.

The aim is to do around 10,000 a day. E mail me on the morn of the 20th or 21st with your weeks results and ill post them all up together on the tuesday.

Tommy · 09/06/2004 22:51

Will you wait for me?!

Earlybird · 11/06/2004 09:31

Hi there - hope I can join in too. Have been walking loads, and keeping track via pedometer. Unfortunately think I have been using my good walking as justification to have extra sweets.....so must adjust my intake or I'll be in the terrible position of walking lots, and gaining weight too! Let me know when you want us to send through our weekly stats.

Mo2 · 11/06/2004 10:01

CharliePlus3 - OK - sorry - my halo ahs seriously slipped anyway - ahve only done 4,000 - 5,000 for the last 4 days

didn't mean to get everyone's backs up - honest

charlieplus3 · 11/06/2004 10:07
