A nice new thread for us all and for anyone else who wants to join in our 10lb challenge

I was 9 8lb, were almost the same. I was 9 4lb last week .
I really did pig out on the weekend though.
Oh well just means I have to work harder now.

loopity · 06/12/2006 20:37

Hi everyone

How is everyone getting on?
LL, I started the detox, have been extremely good all day but dh phoned to say he was going to have to work late [anger] Couldn't face doing just the one salmon steak and veg so ended up having some of the sausages that the wee ones were having. Where is my willpower? Will try harder again tomorrow sorry - at least I was good the rest of the day .

Evening all
I have done the detox today, found it quite easy as I was at my friends house so I was occupied. I did feel hungry though.
I had a banana and blueberry smoothy made this bio jogurt.
I have made a veg soup so had 2 bowls of that for lunch.
I made the red pepper thing. I had some carrot sticks dipped in my home made houmus after. Prob not good but I was hungry.
I have also had an apple and 3 satsumas.
Have drank plenty of water and stayed away from any other type of drinks. So no diet coke for me today, caffine withdrawral kicking in now...

What did you have for brek and lunch loopity? Did you stick to the menu?

MrsFish · 06/12/2006 21:56

Well I have been christmas shopping all afternoon 12-6 with my mum and still only managed 8500 steps all day [hmmm]

Brekkie - 1 and a half ounce cornflakes with hot water and suger, 1 w/m and gold and one crumpet and gold (400 c)
Lunch - vegetable soup and brown roll no butter(whilst out)(400c)
Snack - 3 biscuits, sm glass of smoothie (200c)
Dinner - Pasta, pesto, feta cheese and chicken (500c) so 1500 cals today minus the 465 burnt off, not to bad considering

lornaloo · 06/12/2006 22:07

Evening Mrs Fish. Sounds like a good day .

Marls001 · 07/12/2006 00:39

Loopity - Thanks for posting recipes ... will def. try the stuffed pepper!

Friends just sent us some milk chocolate almond toffee for Christmas ... ... that's my weakness!!

So today ... three pieces of that , oatmeal, protein shake, and more cheetos (double ) ... on the plus side, I LOVE my gym. Great machine that's like ice-skating, actually an almost fun way to burn 500 calories! Was able to burn that many in 27 minutes; thought it might be a mistake, but the machine did record my age and weight ... ... trainer has me on a routine that prompted many "you've got to be kidding me"'s when tried to do it last weekend. Heavy on lower stomach and lower back. If I stick with it, it should be very effective. (because obviously, willpower with food's not working for me ) ...

Have been loving the snow & cold here ... grew up in Houston, so honestly don't care if I never see another summer in my life!

loopity · 07/12/2006 09:24

Whereabouts are you marls, are you still in US? Must be really christmassy with the snow

Mrs fish, you are being very good, well done - reckon you should see a loss this week

Lornaloo, I had porridge for breakfast and glass of oj, then big bowl of veg soup for lunch then loads of fruit mid-afternoon.
But totally lost it during the evening - so sorry. Dh being late home messed up my dinner plans. I had 2 sausages with kids instead as couldn't wait until he got home, resisted the mash which was full of milk and butter so that's a positive at least. Couldn't keep myself out of kitchen after that (watched Nigella's Christmas on BBC2 which didn't help) - had 2 glasses of wine when dh got home, then had some TUC crackers and a couple of slices of fruit loaf. So it is mega-blush for me

Will be making up for all that today - housework and laundry all morning with cd playing (dislexie's tip!). Swim club tonight at gym, will really push myself during swimset.

Going to have the organic salmon steaks and veg tonight instead, porridge and glass of oj for breakfast, soup for lunch (too cold for salad today!). Got some melon to have during afternoon. Will be on the water or fruit tea. Was the red pepper thing nice? Going to have that tomorrow.

OP posts:
lornaloo · 07/12/2006 11:11

Morning all.

Loopity, the pepper thing was really nice. I didn't have spring onion or celery so I made it with red onion instead. I used 3 tbs of dry rice so there was more rice than in the recipe, but it filled me up nicely.
Weighed myself this morning weighed 9 5lb. I think I must have been really bloated or something from all the junk I ate on Sunday. I am definitly going to stick to this diet for a while as I think its good.
I bought some organic salmon yesturday think I'll have that with salad rather than steamed veg either this evening or tomo.

Yeh I was going to say you'll prob have a good loss this week Mrs Fish. I agree with Loopity you've been good everday
Think you might lose a fair bit of weight before christmas after all.

Was ment to be going out today but it has just started pouring down here.

lornaloo · 07/12/2006 11:16

Yesterday even....

loopity · 07/12/2006 12:56

Have just spent 3 hours decluttering cupboards, still not finished. Plus ds2 going along behind me making even more of a mess . Haven't even tackled the bedrooms yet, trying to do a big clear-out before christmas.

Forgot to have breakfast [oops] so just had a cup of herbal tea. Bowl of soup for lunch - home-made soup from the other day is finished so just had a can of Baxter's veg soup and added a big pinch of chilli powder to make it really tasty. Fruit this afternoon, the salmon for tea then I will have the porridge I missed out this morning when I get back from pool tonight .

What's everyone else up to?

Hi loopity - I'm currently in Arkansas, the Ozark mountains. It's very beautiful.

I have a show to perhaps counter "Nigella" for you! "The Biggest Loser." Have only just watched it for the first time last night; normally not into reality shows. The object is, basically, to shape up the most. These are people who have LOST 9 stone - and more - yet still have an average of 50 pounds to lose - and their attitudes are incredible. They are amazing in their determination and preserverance, in keeping healthy diets and doing tremendous amounts of exercise. It was quite motivating for me to see it; will be watching it more. It's an American show, but perhaps the UK has an equivalent?

Found a possible solution to my veggie problem too - "steam-in-the-bag" microwavable ones ...

loopity · 07/12/2006 18:19

Hi marls, will look out for that tv programme Where you live sounds lovely - can you ski in the mountains there? Love skiing, haven't been in a long, long time. Keep meaning to take the kids to Aviemore in Scotland but ds2 probably far too young still. Like the sound of that skating thingy at gym too - 500 cals in half an hour is amazing, especially if it's fun too.

I'm going swimming in about an hour so will hopefully burn off around 300 cals there. Have just had the salmon and veg, lornaloo, from the detox diet. Added a couple of tbs of brown rice too to fill me up. How are you getting on?

I'm dreading tomorrow's weigh-in, think I will still have gained unfortunately.

PS Haven't heard from sweetheart in a while, hope you're doing ok

This thread has already got 113 messages!!

Breakfast-Banana and blueberry smoothy made with bio yogurt and 3 satsumas.
Lunch-A bowl of home made veg soup and a kiwi fruit.
Dinner-Salman steak with brown rice and salad. I drissled olive, balsamic vineger and dijon mustard over it.
I have just eaten my way through 4 oranges and a handful of almonds. I'm going to stop now.

Hoping I will have lost abit more by tomorrow but am doubtful that I will be under what I was last week.

I'm going out with dp tomorrow evening. My mum is having ds stay with her for the night. We are going to the cinema first then meeting some friends for dinner and drinks after. I am going to have to avoid pick and mix and popcorn at the cinema, then wheat or anything fatty at the meal after and alcahol.
I think I will bring some raisins and almonds to the cinema. Then I will order the chicken salad for dinner. Depressing but worth it if I want to lose weight by christmas.
Good luck everyone for weigh in tomo.

loopity · 07/12/2006 21:16

I'm just back from swimming - going to slob in front of tv now for an hour or two before bed . Good luck for tomorrow's weigh-in, I will be happy with staying the same, dreading a gain x

OP posts:
loopity · 08/12/2006 09:32

Today's weigh-in

I have put on half a pound (although one pound lighter than mid-week when I had a sneaky weigh).
Not happy about gain but period has just started and feeling very bloated so maybe it's down to that. Can only start afresh and try hard this week. Think I'll do the detox diet again next week, when I'm not in snacking mode due to time of the month, as I do feel better today after no wheat yesterday.

I really wanted to lose this by Christmas but 5 and a half pounds seems pretty unachievable. Am going to book ds2 into gym creche for at least 3 mornings next week and go for it on the treadmill

I've just been reading your thread, as i've done the class route and i sympathise, it's so very miserable... i'm still fighting the battle of the bulge after my dd last year - but i wanted to share my exerience with you, as i recently had two treatments with a new medical device called Ultrashape. It uses ultrasound waves like the scan, but more intense to get rid of fat cells permanently . Naturally, I was really sceptical at first but i read up on it and then the Mail did a piece on it - it's totally safe and apparently they've been using ultrasound waves to get rid of kidney stones, as my dp's boss had it years ago. Anyway i've had two treatments now - (it's totally painless, you don't even feel it) over 6 weeks and i've lost 5cms from my tummy - the average is 2.5 -3 cms per treatment, so i'm hoping to lose some more from this last session before Christmas. After that there's another treatment for tightening up the loose skin - know i'm getting obsessed, but with dieting i was just yoyoing and getting more and more depressed. It's not cheap (£450) per session - £700 in some clinics!!, but it's worth it! I went to a clinic called I care For My Body in Knightsbridge - they were really professional, friendly - not snooty, and the cheapest by far - i'd recommend them. At least i can get back into half my wardrobe now!

dislexicicecream · 08/12/2006 11:53

hi loopty and every one
im so sorry i have been gone so long i have been relly down i got some anti depressents and have had to get the dose changed a cuple of times and havent relly been able to focase on talking, computers, dieting, eating, sleeping or anything relly, and it seems the longer i have left everything the deeper into my self i have gone,
so i want to try agen today to at least get back on track with this if that is ok with u?
i have gained 1 lbs while i have been gone god knows about inchs cos i havent relly cared to check that,
i hope u are all doing well,
is weigh in day still thursdays?

lornaloo · 08/12/2006 12:03

Hi dislexicicecreaam.....your back We've missed you!!
Sorry to hear you've been feeling down . Are you feeling a little better now? I hope these anti depressants work well for you...
1lb wow was expecting you to say you'd put it all back on...I put on 4lb over the weekend!! I was horrified when I weighed myself....
Loopity and I have been trying out this 3 day detox its really good...I weighed myself this morning and have lost the 4lb and am back to what I was last week, am glad about that, hoping to be lower than it next week that is if I manage to be good this weekend.
Well at least you have lost a pound since mid week Loopity. I'd expect the other half pound is due to your af so wouldn't worry sure you'll be down next week .
Dislexicicecream we changed weigh in to a friday morning. Found that it ment we dieted properly for 4 week days before weigh in rather than 3 then class the rest as weekend and eat bad...
Am out shopping today and out tonight so I shall speak to you all tomo.
Sorry for such a long post....

loopity · 08/12/2006 12:42

Dislexie, so great to hear from you, have really, really missed you y'know! Hope the ad's get you sorted out soon. Keep posting if you can, even if you don't feel like dieting much at the moment. We've nearly all been eating/drinking too much anyway (well me anyway, haven't lost any lbs for weeks now )

Lornaloo, well done on losing those 4lbs again. Just had the red pepper for lunch - delish! Had it with chopped mushrooms, spring onions and pine nuts mixed in with the brown rice and houmous.

Karena, thanks for posting. That ultrasound technique sounds fantastic although expensive - having said that if I added up what I have handed over to weightwatchers over the last few years since having the dc's, would probably pay for a session or two ...

KarenaF · 08/12/2006 13:43

Hi Loopity - yep i know what you mean - £450 per 2.5 cms isn't cheap! - but the fat cells can never come back there - they are gone permanently - that's not to say you can't put weight on in other places -but my tummy was my worst area. They reckon the Ultrashape treatment will replace liposuction in the longterm - I'm saving up for my thighs after Christmas

Karen, wow that treatment sounds amazing. Although I think I saw someone getting it done on discovery home and health I think the prog was called New mummy new tummy. It follwed several woman. One of them had a tummy tuck and got excellent results, another had some other kind of herbal remedy thing done which didn't work at all, and one of them had what I think was the same as what you have had and I seem to remember it working abit but not really being as good as she'd thought.
Did you think it worth the money? What exactly do they do? Does it have a guarantee? Sorry for all the questions, just very interested to hear more.

lornaloo · 09/12/2006 10:07

Now for yesterdays food.
Breakfast 2 bananas (had to buy some from the garage on our way into town as I had nothing in the house.
Lunch 2 bananas (was still out shopping)
Snack handful of nuts.
Shared popcorn with dp at cinema. We didn't have dinner in the end so I just grabbed a bag of crisps.
Then I had 1 small glass of wine when we were out with a few of our friends.
I am going to make sure I get some proper meals in today.

costababe · 09/12/2006 16:26

well, didnt manage to lose the extra two pounds gained, so need to really crack on, will start in ernest on monday. The in laws arrive on Tuesday am for a whole month, so i am sure the added stress will aid weight loss! At the moment i am whirling around the house trying to get all the little jobs done and tidy up before their arrival, why do I put myself through it

loopity · 09/12/2006 21:31

Hi everyone
Have hardly eaten a thing today - feel awful so maybe I'm coming down with the tummy bug that ds1 has at the moment. Don't think I'll even manage my sat night glass of wine, herbal tea instead and off to bed. Speak soon, loopity x
