Texasrose, is there any way you could post the diet menu you're following for the next few days - it sounds really nice and healthy. Is it in this month's prima or is it an old copy??

You don't realise how fattening these things can be do you. I'm just thinking back on the times when I had never dieted and used to happily eat 4 or 5 mince pies at christmas time.

loopity · 04/12/2006 15:44

Lornaloo, would you be willing to follow something like the 5 day plan that texasrose is doing or something similar with me to get us back on track?

lornaloo - love the thought of a time when "i never dieted" i was born on a diet....sob sob sob. I have decided that i will stick to the original target for christmas - though will never make 10 lbs as so far only lost 4 1/2 but better off than on , and will make new target 10lbs by first week of feb - as skiing then.

Yes, in fact if I'm following some sort of plan I would be more likely to stick to it I think.

Mummydoc I didn't use to diet because I didn't have a clue how. I didn't know mayo was fattening for years...lol
Used to eat ham and loads of mayo sarnys on white bread as a snack. I would never do that now that I know how bad it is.

My mum is going to email me a swedish fish dish soon too.

lornaloo · 04/12/2006 16:09

We have the swedish spare ribs on christmas eve, my mum uses the second spice mix. We eat them off the bone though.

lornaloo · 04/12/2006 16:09

They are so scrummy, I love them...

loopity · 04/12/2006 16:13

I'm making a big Danish style dinner on Boxing day - pork and crackling, glazed potatoes and red cabbage - yum! yum! As you can tell i really like my food

lornaloo · 04/12/2006 16:18

Sounds yummy. You like cooking don't you. You always cook a proper meal for dinner.

mummydoc · 04/12/2006 16:27

lornaloo - i love mayonaise, homemade with my chickens eggs and really good olive oil and now my keyboard is slippery from dribble...

loopity · 04/12/2006 16:30

All this talk about food, you wouldn't really think this was a slimming thread, lol

OP posts:
loopity · 04/12/2006 16:33

mummydoc do you keep chickens?? Have you a veg garden too - would love to grow our own but don't think garden is big enough.

Need to go and make dinner soon, before dc's start moaning that i've been on pc all afternoon

mummydoc · 04/12/2006 16:48

yes we have 3 chickens all named after disney princesses, the eggs are fabulous , really yellow in colour, my dds wont eat a shop bought one now- i had to use one recenctly for a dippy egg and soilders and dd1 aged 6 said " mummy there's something wrong with my egg, it isn't the right colour" it wasa very pale yolk. oh Jmaie Oliver eat your heart out ( by way cannot stand him but don't get me started) i don't grow veg - my dad does that for us and fruit , so also make jam and pickle and all that kind of thing. my father wasa a chef so i have always been reall yinterested in food and cooking.

texasrose · 04/12/2006 17:29

Mummydoc I am sooooooo !!!! I'd love chickens. WE looked at buying an Eglet (v. expensive chicken house) but it would take up rather a lot of our modestly-sized garden! Also our dd is extremely allergic to eggs so it's prob not the best idea anyway.

Yes the diet is from the current Prima altho I've played fast and loose with it, taking the main ideas and mixing and matching a bit. Also they include puddings like a Walls Magnum and I could really do without the fat so i'm substituting fruit instead. I've grilled a turkey fillet to have with a salad for lunch tomorrow (spread it with curry paste before grilling - very nice!!!)

mummydoc · 04/12/2006 18:10

we house our "girls" in an old rabbit hutch and run which we got for free from someone in the village, i know that you can keep 2-3 chickens in just the space of a small rabbit run but ours roam free over our garden and mostof surrounding countryside, amazingly never been taken by a fox. if you could find small rabbit hutch and run you could feasibly ave 1 or 2 small chickens like bantams, i thinnk they make good first pets - very low maintennence , don't mind if you forget to feed then for aday and my dd2 and the puppy love chasing them, though watching the stand off between the chickens and the cavalier king charles spaniel was very funny lst week

MrsFish · 04/12/2006 21:05

Hi everyone

Well i am on period week so I just can't stop myself snacking and don't have any willpower

I am currently showing 2 pound up since friday (heavy weekend)

Today

Brekkie - cereal bar, 2 small white toast and gold (270 cals)

Lunch - Salad with one egg, ham and new potatoes (sainsbury's ready packed) Mug of homemade carrot and parsnip soup (350 cals)

Snack - homemade fairy cake, 3 pink wafers (250 cals)

Dinner - Stir fry veg and noodles with spicy tomato sauce (380 cals)

I have a horrible feeling I am going to have put on when I weigh in on friday, will be having another heavy weekend too. Can't see me losing anymore before christmas. Think I am going to aim for staying the same and start afresh on the 1st Jan when there are no more parties to go to.

lornaloo · 04/12/2006 22:04

Hi all,

Breakfast- Nothing, dp had day off so I slept in.
Lunch- Baxter soup with 2 slices of whole meal toast and low fat flora. 350 calories.
Tea- Brown rice with bean chilli. I think about 400 cals I had 2 portions.
I had 3 of ds baby biscuits. Ginger bread one had 39cals and the other 2 had 66cals each. Ate ds cheese sarny which he didn't want, not sure how many cals so I'll say 250.

Mrs Fish, I know how you feel. It is so hard to diet when your on your period and the whethers cold. I'm sure you will bounce back on track as soon as its over .

lornaloo · 05/12/2006 09:19

Morning,
Weighed myslef this morning, I'm still up .
I have set myself a few little goals for today:
Clean the house
Talk ds to feed the ducks
Do workout dvd

It's such a miserable day I don't feel like going out but I'm going to drag myself out.

lornaloo · 05/12/2006 09:19

Take ds to feed ducks...

MrsFish · 05/12/2006 09:24

I am off out at 10.30, need to pick tiles for new bathroom.
Then need to take ds to hairdressers for 12.30, then to nursery for 1pm. Then need to shoot back into town for a dentist appointment at 2pm. then going to Gym for an hour or so, then back to pick ds up from nursery at 5.30pm... phew busy day, the house could do with a clean too but I haven't time for that today unless I don't do gym, but I really feel like I need to do something

lornaloo · 05/12/2006 10:01

Wow very busy day Mrs Fish.
I have cleaned downstairs. Next challenge...Upstairs!

loopity · 05/12/2006 13:20

Mrs fish, know how you feel - my time of the month too and I have been nibbling non-stop.
