I will do 3 day detox with you. Is it no carbs? I will start it tomo.

texasrose · 05/12/2006 16:10

Loopity I am on day 3 of the 5-day 'beat the bloat' (hah!! as if!!) diet from Prima. I'm a bit fed up with it by now TBH and I've adaped it to suit my tastes and also to make it lower fat. I've just snacked on a couple of cherry tomatoes. I'd much rather have had a mince pie!

I'm not sure if I've lost any weight this week yet.

loopity · 05/12/2006 16:22

Hiya texasrose - i looked for that copy of prima today but I think the new one is in (january).

Lornaloo - Tomorrow (day 1) for breakfast - 50g bowlful of oatbased muesli with 100ml orange juice poured over (I might have porridge instead as muesli in our cupboard has wheat in it) topped with chopped apple, melon and orange

Lunch is 1 large bowlful of homemade veg soup plus rice-cake.

Dinner - Large plateful of steamed veg with poached salmon steak. Plenty of water/herbal tea

loopity · 05/12/2006 20:36

Up to 3lbs I think. Although I would be happy enough if it just got me back on the straight and narrow

Today I've had

Breakfast - 2 small slices of fruit loaf with lurpak lite
Lunch - half pkt of shop-bought cheese and onion w'meal sandwich
Dinner - beef stroganoff and basmati rice (from last night), 1 dairymilk choc bar, 1 glass of red wine

I reckon I will have to make up extra soup for snacking emergencies as I will be swimming for the next few days and am always really hungry when I get back from the pool.

lornaloo · 05/12/2006 20:41

I love fruit loaf...I'm going to miss the wheat and diary. Don't like the sound of musili with orange juice...
I shall try it though. Dp is in supermarket now getting all the stuff.
What else does it say bout the diet loopity? Does it explain what it does. Does it detox or just help kick start the weight loss?

loopity · 05/12/2006 20:43

Will just go fetch my mag....

lornaloo · 05/12/2006 20:44

ok

loopity · 05/12/2006 20:49

They've called it the '3 day Miracle Detox Diet' and a miracle is what i need at the mo to shift these blasted few lbs

Seems to be to boost energy levels (yes, please!), reduce bloating, improve digestive function, aid weight loss. BTW it recommends all organic fruit and veg if poss.

OP posts:
lornaloo · 05/12/2006 20:52

Ok sounds good.
Dp is bringing me back a diet coke, I'm going to treat myslef to that before the detox.
Are you going to have the porrige with milk?

lornaloo · 05/12/2006 20:54

I don't like steamed veg or salmon steak. What could I have instead? I suppose I could have the sweet potato salad.

costababe · 05/12/2006 21:01

Hi all, hope you all are ok and eeping with the programme! I had a lovely break, ut isnt it cold over with you lot? We went to Eastbourne for 2 days, stayed in a lovely hotel, did give in to the english white toast at brekkie, but balanced out wih fresh fruit as well!, managed to stay good over the lunches with salad and chicken, but completely lost the plot in the evenings, loads of lovely chineses and red wine and baileys!!
Then we headed down to cornwall for the wedding(which was lovely), bloody freezing and raining, and stayed at the inlaws, so no chance of being good food wise there. I did weigh on Sat morning and was up 2lbs so I have been really really good since this morning, will try to lose the 2lbs by Friday?

loopity · 05/12/2006 21:10

Hi costababe, glad you had a nice trip

Lornaloo, I'm going to have porridge with skimmed milk/water and just drink the oj! Is it just salmon you don't like, what about other types of fish? Eg seabass or cod, with few tbsp brown rice and some salad. Or rice and mixed bean salad, then big bowl of fruit

OP posts:
lornaloo · 05/12/2006 22:04

I do like salmon but not that much, it would depress me to think I was having steamed veg and slamon for tea iyswim. I'd just prefer something I could look forward to.
Do you have a recipe for bean salad?
I've tried making it before but didn't taste as good as when my mum makes it.

lornaloo · 05/12/2006 22:06

Welcome back costababe. Glad to hear you had a good time.
Its not cold here as far as English winters go. Its been quite warm considering the time of year. I'm in Surrey though perhaps it has been colder else wear.
To warm for snow.
Obviously a shock to you though being used to nice warm spain Xmas Envy

lornaloo · 05/12/2006 22:07

Oh no christmas envy emoticon.... at your warm whether in spain

lornaloo · 05/12/2006 22:57

Dp couldn't get a wheat free muesli. Does it have to be completely wheat free? What shall I have instead?

loopity · 06/12/2006 09:15

Morning all
Think I'm going to have to be slightly flexible with the menu. I'm having porridge with skimmed milk and glass of oj. Going to have the chopped fruit mid-morn instead, as a fruit salad. Will have the salmon tonight and dh can also have baby potatoes with his while I stick to the steamed veg!

Found this mixed bean salad recipe for you, LL
Can of mixed beans
1-2 cloves garlic crushed
1 red onion choppped
3tbs good olive oil
1 tbs balsamic vinegar
chopped parsley
salt and black pepper

Sweat onion in 1 tbs of the olive oil until just softened. Meanwhile heat beans gently for a few minutes then drain, rinse and quickly combine with red onion and all the other ingredients while the beans are still warm so that they can take in the flavour. Leave to go cold and sprinkle with parsley.

Good luck for today everyone, be good !

Morning,
I'm not sure on what to have for breakfast.
I think I'm going to make a fruit smoothy.
I've started making a veg soup to have for lunch.
Am going to weigh myself this morning so I can see how much I lose on this detox.

loopity · 06/12/2006 09:46

I weighed myself this morning 9st 9 and a half. Pound and a half heavier than last week
