Nooo, don't go! Like Lorns I couldn't find the thread after being away for a bit (now marked on watched threads, so should be able to get back here in future)

Lorns, thanks for the breathing stuff, really interesting. I guess like all exercise (and eating) variety is the best bet

Mrs Fish, sorry to hear you're a bit sick. Hope it will clear soon I'm sure the exercise will help (even if it's just walking round the block )

I've been good with exercise and food and had a sneaky weigh - lost 2lbs hoping for 3 by Friday then I'll feel really motivated

laloop · 06/02/2007 21:16

Hi skibump
Sounds like you have had a good week. Dh is on my case to get out running with him, so as soon as this the weather gets a bit warmer I'll be running and walking a lot outdoors again. He has signed up for the Three Peaks challenge (think that's what it is called!) where you do the each of the highest mountains in England/Scotland/Wales over a three day period.

My friend has asked me to follow weightwatchers diet with her for a few weeks before she is to be a bridesmaid at wedding in NZ, so that will keep me focused for next few weeks too.

skibump · 07/02/2007 13:51

Hi Loopity. Yes, at last! Seems it may be true that my body was laying down lean muscle and now I'm seeing the benefit

We did the three peaks when I was pg (tho I didn't know it) Actually we only did 2 of them, but I thought it was in 24hrs? Whichever it's a good challenge, good luck to him

Good to have a friend to diet with, what's the weight watchers diet like?

tiger8565 · 07/02/2007 14:00

The 3 peaks can be done in any particular time you like, but you'll find that if its for charity in particular it will be within 24 hours. People do like to tak eit a bit more leisurely if doing for their own reasons, than running up and down, and driving manicly between the 3.

laloop · 07/02/2007 15:12

Hi skibump and tiger
Dh is doing the three peaks with my sister's dp and some friends. Actually think they are going to try to do it within the manic 24 hours and then they make their way back to Glasgow where they started off and hang around for another night (either out on the town or nursing their blistered feet depending on how they are feeling!). They're away 3 days in total so that's where I got mixed up

Weightwatchers uses a daily/weekly points system - most healthy foods have a low or zero points value so you can eat lots of them but high fat/high calorie foods have a greater value. You can also bank or use points generated through exercise (ie use the extra points to eat more, or bank it ie not "spend" it on food in order to lose the weight more quickly, if that makes sense). And there's a weekly weigh-in to check progress. It's very important to eat your full points allowance over the week, no skipping meals. Not sure if we're going to go to a class or follow the diet at home by ourselves.

laloop · 07/02/2007 15:15

Skibump, managing to climb mountains when you were pg, I'm very impressed well done!

Think I'm going to help dh with his training by doing some hill-walking in the Mourne mountains over here in NI

Lorns · 07/02/2007 18:11

Hi everyone
Haven't forgotton about new thread - been busy and also gone down with "the bug". Feel like an airhead at the moment so not feeling like using by brain to think up a new title!

Oh how I long for hubbie to get home so I can go to bed.... They just go to bed when they're feeling ill!!!!

laloop · 07/02/2007 21:32

Poor you Lorns
Hope you're feeling better soon

skibump · 08/02/2007 14:52

Poor you Lorns, it's rubbish being ill & trying to look after the kids as well isn't it? I remember bc when I could just take the day off if I felt really rubbish. Hugs {{{}}}

Laloop - sounds nice - although not today, we've got LOADS of snow, and it's still coming down.

laloop · 08/02/2007 21:43

Enjoy the snow, skibump
We don't have any here yet but the lo's are getting excited as the forecast is that Ireland may get some over the weekend.
Have been to my swim club tonight and booked ds2 into gym creche tomorrow. Going to do some running on the treadmill I think.
How are you getting on?
Haven't heard from Marls in a few days, hope she's doing ok.

skibump · 09/02/2007 14:42

Hey, 3lbs down this week Actually it looked like a bit more than 3lbs, but I'll have that in the bank for next week
That means I've got 6lbs to go before 4th March. Sounds achieveble doesn't it? I HAVE to be able to control my eating for 3 weeks
Exercise has been a bit more difficult for the last couple of weeks as ds had an eppy at the creche (did I already write this?) Anyway, he was REALLY upset, I've never seen him like that before, so we're not going back (not for a while anyway) That rather limits what I can do during the week. My parents are staying next week tho, so that'll help

skibump · 09/02/2007 14:43

How's everyone else getting on? This thread's usually much busier on Fridays

laloop · 09/02/2007 15:38

Hi skibump, well done that's a great loss this week
I have stayed the same this week. I went for a swim last night and today so keeping the exercise up but I can't seem to cut down the calorie intake at all. Hopefully next week will be a better result as I will following the weightwatchers rules.

Lorns · 09/02/2007 15:54

Hi - feeling less like an airhead now (back to eating....) - just with a stinking cold. They say raw garlic is the answer, but I'm not sure my class participants would thank me!!

Thanks for your sympathy!

I've started a new thread and said it's from this one, but anyone know how else I can link them???

Nearly forgot - it's called Exercise buddies - anyone want to join?

laloop · 09/02/2007 17:15

Yeahhh!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Lorns, I'll do a link to bring us all over

here's the link to new thread

laloop · 10/02/2007 10:02

Skibump, lornaloo, mrsfish, mummydoc - if any of you are around over the weekend come over to the new thread if you can, I'm missing talking to you all

How's the pg going mrs fish, is the morning sickness still really bad?

laloop · 10/02/2007 13:37

Costababe and dislexicicecream, haven't heard from you in a while
Hope you're both doing well

costababe · 17/02/2007 21:18

hi there,
Weight wise have remained the same, so just 2lbs off taret weight, but i have to say i am happy where i am now. Started to up the exercise now, and started running last week, god thought i was going to pass out, measured the run circuit its just under a mile, first time out i had to change to brisk walking 5 times during the circuit, 2nd time out brisk walked about 6 times but managed to recover my breath quicker.
Just say the other thread re exercse and read the bupa guide to running will start again next week. hope everyone is good

laloop · 17/02/2007 22:15

Hi costababe, great to hear from you. Well done on the weight loss!
(I can't seem to shift any at the moment but still trying!). Keep up the running, it gets a lot easier very quickly. How's the weather in Spain at the moment? Catch up with us on the new thread!
