Emz well done for being in such good spirits regardless of having a bit of a plateau. A lot of people (including me!) would have given up by now, and to keep your chin up and carry on says a lot about you as a person.

I weigh in on a Friday morning so will post this weeks result tomorrow. I'm hoping for a loss but would be happy staying the same as last week as I ate so much rubbish over the weekend!

JontyDoggle37 · 16/10/2015 07:43

Well damnit. 0.75lb gain. Although looking back over the week, one day at nearly 2,000, and a couple of1700 days hasn't helped. And I've had bread the last two days so maybe a bit of water retention. Exhausted this morning and we've got a mummy meet-up later in a cake shop, so proper breakfast and cake does not equal a soup day. Will have to aim for that tomorrow, see if I can rebalance things a bit. Humph.

IMustEatMoreVeg · 16/10/2015 08:09

Hello all. I have had my first post holiday weigh in.

3lb down!! Grin

Going for a run now to keep the good momentum up.

Bathsheba3 · 16/10/2015 08:46

Humph indeed Jonty. It will be the bread for sure. Makes digestion super sluggish too. Enjoy your mummy meet-up!

Imust - incredible!! Well done you. Enjoy your run!

Tryingno1 · 16/10/2015 09:25

I must!!! Ur going to put me to shame! I'll have def had a gain! Had my body weight in pasta and cake last 3 days and also didn't gym it! Good intentions went down drain
Weighing myself on Sunday am after I've had a day to try and get rid of water. Don't think I'll be a very happy bunny. Well done to u!

BeaBoo · 16/10/2015 13:35

Well done IMust, that's great!

1lb off for me today, which i am pleased with.

irishe · 16/10/2015 14:35

commiserations jonty but I am sure you will have that small gain off soon. dont eat too much cake at your meet up!

trying unbelievable loss whilst on holiday, mega kudos!

bea congrats on your loss

Well my run of 3 days of low cal (last one unplanned) has worked and at my weigh in this morning I had lost 3lbs since Monday, so obviously delighted by that.

I think that means I have lost 4lbs in Oct, most this week. Will need to go back and check my weight at start of Oct.

Although I am happy to have lost weight, I cant help thinking that I should not have to eat so little calories to do so?

Just to recap, it was 900 odd for 2 days than a very low 500 odds yesterday (due to feeling poorly). And most importantly I am way off being a healthy weight, so not experiencing that slow down near to goal.

I can only think that due to being so sedentary it is tricky to lose weight? Also my diabetic consultant said that although it would be good for me to lose weight it would be difficult, she did give some medical explanation, about the impact of taking insulin, but I didn't really understand it. Sigh.

Anyway, I am not moaning, just puzzled. Bodies are a strange thing!

I just think I should be shedding 1 to 2lbs a week quite easily whilst eating 1200 odd calories a day.

I am back on my 1200 odd a day, I worry that eating really low cal will wreck my metabolism and make it totally impossible to lose weight!

katydye87 · 16/10/2015 14:47

Hi Everyone! (((WAVES!)))

Well done on all your losses so far, I started my diet on Monday too and today had a sneaky peek on the scales and have also lost a few pounds. They say that in the first week you will normally lose your water stores so I am guessing this is what it is.

I am on a diet that consists of staying around 750 calories each day, it's hard to start with, especially Monday on my first day but I suppose I have no choice but to get used to it, because I am feeling like one big blob! haha

I'm the same and don't move a lot, not bothered with exercise and sit in a chair in an office from 9-5. So seeing just a few pounds loss on the scales makes me over the moon!

I agree that bodies are strange, when I used to do all different diet's before I thought that i was doing really well and sticking to it properly, expecting a gain, but nada, nothing. So im doing a diet that much more stricter allowing a better loss, "hopefully"! lol

irishe · 16/10/2015 15:02

Hi Katy
Well done on starting your diet and seeing a loss.

750 daily is very low cal on an ongoing basis. What diet are you following?
This thread uses Myfitnesspal to help support with weight loss. MFP recommends a miminum 1200 cals a day (I think).

I was experiencing a plateau for a couple of weeks and decided to drop my daily calorie level lower for a couple of days, to kick start my weight loss again, which worked. I don't think I could sustain 750 calories daily on a long term basis. I am now back on 1260. I would also worry that I was wrecking my metabolism, making it harder in the long term to eat a reasonable amount of calories without gaining weight. I would also worry that I was not getting enough nutritional variety.

Hope this doesn't sound negative katy. It is great to make the decision to lose weight, I certainly feel much better, now that i am tackling the issue. You are maybe doing some diet that addresses the concerns I raised?

psychotropic · 16/10/2015 15:06

Lol these super low calorie plans are making me feel faint! But hope everyone has a good weekend!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 16/10/2015 15:26

I can't quite believe my loss myself! I did a victory dance this morning.

I had gotten myself into a right old strop, too, and convinced myself that I would have just maintained or even gained.

Well, this was the last holiday for this particular set of clothes. They were too big this week and if I lose more they will be hanging off me.

Just 7lb to lose by the end of November to reach my first big goal of 11st. After that, if I can get to any weight that begins with 10st something i will be lighter than any time in my adult life.

katydye87 · 16/10/2015 15:53

I am following slim and save, it's great (to begin with, anything could happen!!)

I've been on my fitness pal before and use the app, its great bcause that way you can scan the barcodes of the food item and it brings up the nutritional data straight away. I don;t need to use it any more because they have there own meal planner which is a little like myfitnesspal.

My 'plateau' on cwp lasted for ages, but a little bit of my own fault was involved... whoopsie. I understand what you are saying but a few of my friends have done really well on other diets like this and look great! I just want to be like them.

irishe · 16/10/2015 16:07

Good luck with it katy. When I decided to lose weight in jan this year, I used diet chef (where they post you the food). It got me started and really helped with portion control. I didn't like the food though so couldn't sustain it. My DH is still doing it 10 months later.

I think with diets, it's horses for courses, you just need to find something that is sustainable and works for you!

Onwards and downwards for us all.

irishe · 16/10/2015 16:09

Seriously imust you deserve to do the victory conga! What a result. A 3lbs loss whilst on hols is un bloody believable.

Inspiring motivation.

MajesticWhine · 16/10/2015 16:16

very impressive IMustEatMoreVeg well done you
I'm grumpy, hungry, pre-menstrual and have already consumed 998 today. Not doing too well. On the plus side I sat in a cafe this morning and did not succumb to the urge for chocolate cake. Go me.

irishe · 16/10/2015 16:22

majestic good on you for not succumbing to cake. The 998 could have been worse. It's so hard when you are hungry. I am beginning to realise their is a hormonal element to my hunger too.

katydye87 · 16/10/2015 16:29

Oh yeah! I've seen the adverts for diet chef, they look like really nice meals. I did google them myself but found them quite expensive.

Your totally right, after many, many failed attempts of watching what I eat, calories counting etc.. etc.. etc.. I think ive found something that might suit me.

I hope everyone has a great weekend ahead. xxxx

katydye87 · 16/10/2015 16:32

Well done MajesticWhine, you did really well not giving in at the cafe. If that would of been me it would of been a different story. HEHE!

I'm going to avoid going into any cafes and restaurants from the time being, I don't think the smell of sausage or bacon sandwiches will do the trick for me, I will utterly cave in.

MrsDLH · 16/10/2015 17:59

Hi peeps!

Emz hoping you're keeping those spirits high! Flowers
Katy Welcome, good luck with your diet. Wouldn't be for me and my gluttonous ways!
Majestic well done for saying no to cake. I could eat one of my children during pre menstrual week!
Irishe fab loss, well done. It's hard when you have to take medication that impedes weight loss so extra kudos for doing so well
Imust Super loss...particularly as you did it on holiday! And well done, Bea too
trying good luck for Sunday's weight in
jonty bummer. Sorry about the game but it's teeny and most definitely bread bloatage which will pass soon enough
Sorry if I've missed anyone
I lost another lb so back to 11st 3...next lb off can be recorded on mfp...yay! I'm waiting for DD to finish her dance class...bloody starving!

Emz449 · 16/10/2015 19:18

Imust thats great well done! And being on holiday too.... very impressive!

Katy good luck with slim and save and welcome Smile they have a great Facebook page if you haven't already followed it, i quite like the low carb recipes they post on there

Jonty sorry about the gain, i'm sure it's just retention and will pass soon.

I'm good today thank you MrsDLH I had an important meeting this morning that I have been getting VERY stressed out over the past few days as it could have sent a major deal down the pan but luckily everything is ok. As much as i love my job the pressure of it all can become seriously consuming. My holiday in November will be the first week off i've had since April so it's needed! Glad its the weekend though!

I've bought all my soup ingredients! Bag of onions, bag of carrots and 2 butternut squash(es?), stock and some sweet potato to thicken it slightly. Sunday will be batch cooking day. I usually get about 7-9 portions from half the ingredients so aiming for double that so it'll last me a while. I might input the calories from having to cut up the squash Grin

Washing and cleaning done for the weekend so i'm planning to veg out and watch a lot of netflix, TOM is looming so a major chill out session is needed. I hope everyone else has a lovely weekend!

OP posts:
Emz449 · 16/10/2015 19:20

Weight was still the same this morning by the way, i'm not getting annoyed about it though, it'll move eventually. I'm hoping TOM will get things moving as i suspect it could be related to the weight standstill

BeaBoo · 16/10/2015 19:23

Well done for resisting cake Majestic! I'd call that a definite diet victory. It's good to acknowledge those little things rather than focusing on the scales all the time.

Well done on your loss MrsDLH

As I'm a newbie on this thread, does anyone mind sharing their starting weight and how much they have lost so far? I started at 14st 13 and I'm now 12st 11 so I'm almost at the half way point of what I'd like to lose (which is motivating me to carry on!). I like to hear how others are doing as it keeps me going Grin

Emz449 · 16/10/2015 19:48

I started at 14 stone 11. Currently 11 stone 1 but was 10 stone 13 a week ago, unexplained weight gain! Goal is 9 stone 11 to have reached 5 stone lost Smile

OP posts:
Tryingno1 · 16/10/2015 19:57

I started 11 9 now 11 1. Plan to get to 10 7 ASAP!

Tryingno1 · 16/10/2015 19:58

Well actually no 11! But been on holiday so god knows wot I am when I weigh myself!
