I do half marathons so not quite, always thinking of doing the full thing but the training seems a bit daunting. With my distance I never run more than ten miles in training and I can have time off from running and pick it up again easily. A marathon would mean training runs of up to twenty miles, maybe more, which I simply can't imagine. Having said all that I am seriously tempted to try for London in our club ballot or even get a charity place.

irishe · 02/10/2015 21:52

Yes there is more than that. I too would like to be eating for health, not just too lose weight. Ah well, one thing at a time.

irishe · 02/10/2015 21:57

I am very impressed psycho any kind of running is beyond my wildest dreams (dodgy knees). Must burn up the calories though, always a positive!

MajesticWhine · 02/10/2015 22:54

Wow, impressive psycho. I am trying to build towards running 10k at the moment and it's a big struggle.
On the 'macros' I nearly always go over the recommended amount of fat and protein, and under the recommended amount of carbs. I guess the foods higher in fat and protein are just more appealing to me in terms of taste. I might try a low fat / higher carb day and see what it's like.

JontyDoggle37 · 03/10/2015 06:55

Morning all. 11st4.25 today, so back to what I was before I went away. As I'm already 3 days into October I'm revising my 9lb gi forOctober down to 8lbs. I'm not going away anywhere between now and end November so hopefully no more sudden rises!

Not2bObvious · 03/10/2015 07:33

Well done Jonty, did you have a nice time away? 8lb would be great in s month. How many calls do you havd set in mfp?
Torturing myself with whether I should go do an exercise class this morning, DH feels I might be overdoing it (possibly cause of major sob'fest about huge amount of exercise/constantly being careful of food yet very little loss) So I just dunno. My knee is nagging me and I'm awake since 5.30 having only find asleep after 12. Maybe I'll compromise and do a fitnessblender workout. Bought a 6kg kettle bell weeks back and haven't done anything with it yet. Going out tonight for dinner, no idea what to wear. Not buying anything as 14 a little too big and 12 a little too small. Also cannot bear to wear/buy 14's so a lot of the time I'm quite uncomfortable bet into a size 12. Like my version of a hair shirt! Maybe that's why I want to work out so I can wear lovely Lycra, ahhh stretchy clothes Grin

Thanks for the holiday advice girls!

I think I'm gonna pack my gym stuff and try do at least 30 mins a day or swim everyday. Hotel has pool yay! I don't excercise except walk so hopefully it will help. I've decided for brekkie I'll have eggs and fruit (no cakes/other treats at the buffet). I'll have salad for lunch. Then dinner lots of fresh fish. I'll treat myself at brekkie one day and dinner 2 days. In off the wine as I'm about to start an ivf cycle in 2ish months so only 1/2 glasses for me. In going to Amalfi coast!

Not2ibvious I'm same size as u-14 a bit big 12 a bit tight. So annoying!! When I got married 4 years ago I was a small 12, I intend to get back there by end of Nov!

psychotropic · 03/10/2015 09:11

EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy are you going to positano?

Tryingno1 · 03/10/2015 09:26

I hope so! The weather forecast isn't v nice but I'm hoping to go there for a day trip! We staying in sorrento and ravello. looks beauttttt. Any top tips for posantino?

Tryingno1 · 03/10/2015 10:28

Lost that weight u had put back on. Like we all said must have been water. As only took 3 days to loose! Any ways till Italy I refuse to have a binge or a day off. Ideally if I'm 10stone 13 by next Friday I'll be ok with a stay same/gain 1 pound
Ur stories about staying same on holiday have inspired me! I think it's amazing to be so disciplined when away. So I'm gonna do the same! It's clearly possible! Thanks girls smile

irishe · 03/10/2015 11:03

Still no weight loss for me, since Monday weigh in. Wonder how long it will be before I lose again? It was great to lose 5lbs in one week but motivationally it would have been better for me to have split it over 2 weeks, losing 3lbs then 2lbs. I need to see those scales moving downwards!

Ah well just need to keep trucking.

Have family birthday party tomorrow so will need to think of strategies to avoid cake fest!

Hope you all have a happy and healthy weekend.

IMustEatMoreVeg · 03/10/2015 11:24

Trying - I am going on holiday in a few days too. I like your plan. Unfortunately I won't be able to do any exercise as DH can't manage the two dc at the same time by himself (Hmm) but your plan of a light breakfast, salad lunch and then dinner sounds good.

I am going to avoid the vino as much as possible and not have desserts.

A really good thing about this last 2 months of mfp is I have an idea of what 1200 calories looks like over the day. It doesn't look like pasta, wine and dessert!

Tryingno1 · 03/10/2015 11:51

I know! Once u start tracking u realising how it's either a glass of wine and starve or a whole salad and be full!

IMustEatMoreVeg · 03/10/2015 11:57

I wonder if there might be some scales at my hotel? I weigh myself every single day and a whole 10 days with no weighing will feel very strange.

Tryingno1 · 03/10/2015 12:47

I'm hoping same! Then if I see it creep on I won't have that ice cream!

irishe · 03/10/2015 12:51

I suppose if there were none at the hotel you could maybe buy some cheapy ones, if you felt it would help? I know it's a waste of money (unlikely to bring them back) but if it would bring peace of mind, might be worth considering? If there is a gym at hotel there might be scales there.

Emz449 · 03/10/2015 13:01

Well done Jonty

Sad Sad Sad The scales went back up to 11 stone today, i really don't understand what i'm doing wrong. I haven't gone over 1200 all this week apart from Monday and have kept to a fairly low carb menu apart from subway yesterday it's so frustrating, i just want the bloody scales to go down! I do feel quite blocked up so that could be playing a factor in things. I'm fed up of going over the same weight for the past week Angry

irishe · 03/10/2015 13:16

jonty congrats on shifting that trip weight. Good luck for your nov goal.
emz words fail me. Soooo frustrating to be eating like an angel and the scales to be stubbornly stuck.

It WILL go down, but when is the question? Would you feel able to do something like imust did and have a very low cal day, just have soup or something?

You have my sympathy

Emz449 · 03/10/2015 13:35

So grumpy today, it's funny how the scales can change your mood instantly. I don't know if i could irishe! I've found that even if i miss a meal i get really faint and feel quite sick, perhaps that is a mental thing though. I was thinking of something like the 5:2 diet to get me out of the plateau, but doing that during work could be tricky. I really will be so cross if i didn't get into the 9's by the time i go away, i know that sounds silly but it would be so disappointing, i've had enough time!

OP posts:
Not2bObvious · 03/10/2015 13:38

emz I feel your pain. I've gone for 12.1.8 yesterday to either 12.2 or 12.3 depending on the scales I'm using. I can't seem to break the 12 stone barrier and as a result am eating stupid things between yesterday and today. So fricking stupid, pissed off at your weight? Oh well why not eat 6 x m&s chocolate biscuits or half a box of chocolates? That'll help rightHmm
I'm trying to get myself out of bed and into a decent workout, just letting myself have 1 more hour of wallowing. Going out tonight also can't eat anything else after toast and biscuit'fest.
trying, how long are you going away for? How about going away in jeans that fit comfortably, not loose, definitely not too tight and try them on each day, with the aim you'll wear them back?

Tryingno1 · 03/10/2015 13:38

Sorry em :( it's so disheartening. I find a day of 900 shifts it! And it's not that hard
Usually chicken salad at lunch and then grilled Seabass and veg. Lots of herbal teas...if u did that for 3 days u would see a move (I hope!). I can't do less than 900 even for one day as I want to bite someone's head off!

Tryingno1 · 03/10/2015 13:41

I'm away for 7 days, I'm sure gym will have some scales....or yes I like the jeans idea! I think brekkie will be my downfall as they have so much when it's buffet but my dh is quite healthy so at least I won't watch him eating it! And I've already told him not to let me have more than one pizza and one pasta dish while there. Fish and salads allowed!! I love fish anyways

irishe · 03/10/2015 14:10

trying I find buffet breakfasts are vvv hard to negotiate on holiday. They seem to be full of croissants, Danish pastries, bread & jam of every type. If I start the day off unhealthily then I find it hard to get back on track.
I feel much more in control on a self catering holiday, and despite my reservations initially, I have really embraced them. Also now we have a pre schooler having our own space, living room, kitchen, works so much better for us. But I enjoyed many years of hotel holidays and I think for a couple they are hard to beat!

Emz449 · 03/10/2015 14:38

Trying I might give 900 a go tomorrow and see if it makes a difference, would be good if it did, fingers crossed. I also hope you have a lovely holiday, i'm so jealous! Would love to be going away now Grin

I usually do it when my weight is standing still and I need a kick !
Low fat Greek yog and strawberries
Tuna salad or egg salad are the most filling
Grilled fish and veg
And a glass of milk at some point
My usual 900 day! And it's really not that bad . Let me know how u get on!

Well I have 2 hotels lucky one of them is a v limited brekkie so thinking 2 hard boiled eggs and coffee for brekkie in the second hotel...and in the first I'll just have be strong!! And go to gym to try compensate
