Hello Smile
I've recently lost over 30lbs but I still need to lose another 30ish. Anyone want to join in for some support/motivation? I'm thinking weekly Monday morning weigh ins starting tomorrow (Not compulsory).
I'm going to do healthy food at about 1000-1200 calls a day. I may also add in some fast days too.
All diet types and weights welcome Smile

Starting weight 172.8lb
Week One 167.2lb
Week Two 166.2lb
Week Three 165.2lb
Week Four 164.8lb

Tiny loss for me this week, (good job my scales measure in tiny increments) 8lb loss in total.

I was 159lb this time last year (and I was overweight then) so that's my next goal - actually, if I make 158 my goal that will be a stone lost in total.

I'm such a sad individual that when I've lost a stone I shall buy myself something lovely.

Enjoy your cake lucked

achieve6 · 18/08/2015 10:40

well done to the "losers"

and a big cheer for everyone keeping going.

This week I have one birthday meal and apart from that I have no social stuff (mostly thanks to the Tube strikers, lol) but that should make things a lot easier.

RoosterCogburn · 18/08/2015 12:14

That sounds like a positive week achieve Social events definitely make it more difficult, especially if, like me your will power is weak in the face of deliciousness.

I keep reminding myself I didn't get fat overnight so it isn't going to disappear overnight. Also (in my Pollyanna mode) I tell myself that I have lost 8lb - if I had put on 8lb in the same period of time I'd be 16b heavier than I am now!

achieve6 · 18/08/2015 12:20

ah, see I put the weight on quite fast so I feel as if I ought to be able to get rid of it fast. Also, I've had other friends who have had no trouble losing a stone in 6 weeks and I just wonder why it doesn't happen to me.

Realistically, I think they are better at sticking to their diets, lol, but with fasting, I am still a bit stunned that just one day of going off the rails can cause so much trouble.

I'm actually debating fasting 3 days this week on the basis that I can, but I'll probably find it too irritating.

I must confess I don't really understand your "gaining" analogy, but that may be because the idea of gaining more is unthinkable to me. I do seem to have a "top weight" - my stomach is quite sensitive so it's not like I could eat a whole tub of ice cream or something.

I suspect being short and tiny framed has a lot to do with it. Realistically my normal food intake should probably be 1200 cals per day but I find 1500 hard.

RoosterCogburn · 18/08/2015 12:24

My gaining analogy is probably rubbish but it helps me feel positive Smile

My weight has crept on over the past 15 years, but if I overeat I can feel the lbs piling on.
I'm short and small framed so I look tubby and square at my current weight. When I catch sight of my reflection unexpectedly I'm always horrified at how squat I look.

I'm aiming for 1200 cals per day at the moment and it isn't easy.

achieve6 · 18/08/2015 12:37

oh we look quite similar then - "squat" is how I feel about myself!

I don't think it's sad at all to buy yourself something when you lose a stone btw.

RoosterCogburn · 20/08/2015 16:41

How is everyone doing?

I'm much less hungry, so that's making life easier.

My portion control and eating habits were terrible, but I seem to have managed to reeducate myself. Not buying 'treat' stuff has also helped - DH who isn't consciously trying to lose weight has actually dropped a few lbs because there are no crisps/biscuits etc in the house.

lorelei9 · 22/08/2015 16:19

may I join in please....if anyone thinks 30lb by Xmas is doable? Well, not really Xmas, more like early Dec as I have a holiday then.

only 4 months when you think about it, I'll have to knuckle down - and stop eating crisps!!

this might be a separate thread but I also wonder if I ought to stop cafffeine. i only have 2 cups of coffee per day but lately I cut back on sugar - and lost a few pounds - but still have lots of weird energy highs and lows.

I found out that being on the Pill means you keep caffeine in your system for a lot longer than if you aren't and then I wondered if my AM and lunchtime coffees might be giving me odd highs and lows.

but I don't want to complicate weight loss and it's also possible my body is trying to get used to a new regime anyway. Anyone else found caffeine a problem in managing energy? I am tyring to stick wtih low GI foods too.

RoosterCogburn · 22/08/2015 17:18

Welcome lorelei

I'm afraid I can't help re the coffee as I don't drink it.

NapoleonsNose · 22/08/2015 20:06

Can I join in too? Starting WW online at home on Monday. I've always been a SW girl and 5 years ago I lost nearly 4 stone. To my shame I've put all of it back on and I look at myself and feel disgusted by how fat I've let myself get. I've been back and forth to SW since but I really don't like all the group image bit - I know its not meant to be patronising but it seems that way to me. I'm not that keen on the leader either.

Anyway, I would like to lose 30lbs by Xmas. I've got a swanky party coming up at the end of October, so a stone off by then would be great. I find it hard to fit in exercise and I'm not really into going to the gym, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to lose just through diet. Once I start seeing results maybe I'll find some motivation to get moving. At the moment everything wobbles and its not pretty!

I'm 5'3 and will post my weight on Monday when I've picked up my new scales from Tesco.

lorelei9 · 23/08/2015 12:47

Napoleon, I would want a stone off by end of Oct too - really I should be able to do early Oct? You should be able to lose just by diet sure.

Maybe I should make a plan in 4 week blocks. 30lbs seems really intimidating tbh.

One thing I find really hard with weight gain is how to dress. I'm not a hugely fashionable person but most of my weight has gone on my middle and I find I can't wear jeans, which were a staple before.

My chest also got bigger with weight gain, I suppose that makes sense or I'd look odd - but I am hoping that goes away too.

RoosterCogburn · 23/08/2015 15:24

I think that is do-able (stone by sometime in October)

I met a friend today who I haven't seen for about 6 weeks and the first thing she said was "you've lost weight" Smile

I was really pleased because I didn't think it was noticeable yet - DH has been telling me that he thinks I look slimmer but I thought he was just being kind.

Most of my weight sits round my middle and on my face - I used to have cheekbones, not I am just round.

NapoleonsNose · 23/08/2015 22:02

That's how I feel lorelei. My weight has gone on around my middle too and my boobs are now huge! Last time I lost weight they did go a bit, so I'm hoping the same happens this time. I look very matronly at the moment!

RoosterCogburn · 24/08/2015 09:14

About a lb this week.

Starting weight 172.8lb
Week One 167.2lb
Week Two 166.2lb
Week Three 165.2lb
Week Four 164.8lb
Week Five 163.4lb

I find the weekly loss a bit depressing as it seems so tiny, but if I track total loss I feel quite pleased.
It's about 19 weeks until the new year, so if I stay on track I could possibly have lost another stone by then.

lorelei9 · 24/08/2015 09:50

I last weighed myself on Friday and have lost a pound without any real effort as I didn't feel I was starting till today, so that's good.

I am mostly painting/decorating this week so hopefully that will be enough exercise and plenty of distraction so I don't eat any rubbish.

lorelei9 · 24/08/2015 09:51

Rooster - that looks like a good loss, isn't 1-2lb a week pretty much right? I will be pleased if my losses look like yours, well done.

RoosterCogburn · 25/08/2015 20:28

Well done on your lb loss Lorelei.

You are right that steady loss is the best - I think that it has to be a long process. Still, we're heading the right way.

lorelei9 · 25/08/2015 23:39

haven't eaten much while decorating and kitchen is half blocked with stuff!

nearly had an ice cream urge - am actually hungry - but then started looking at the Hamlet press night reports.....which luckily made me think "O, that this too too solid flesh would melt. Thaw and resolve itself into a dew" - and put me off my ice cream Grin

think I'm going to write it on the kitchen noticeboard. Sorry, Shakespeare. I am really hungry though, didn't want to wake up hungry so had a banana.

RoosterCogburn · 26/08/2015 20:43

Well I've discovered a way to eat less - cook something so horrible that you don't really want to eat it.

My roast carrot soup was probably very nutritious but oh dear God it was horrible.
DH kindly said "very carroty"

He added butter and blue cheese to his bowl and apparently is was alright.

RoosterCogburn · 26/08/2015 20:44

lorelei love the Shakespeare idea - I wish my solid flesh would melt away Grin

lorelei9 · 26/08/2015 22:21

Rooster, sorry to hear about your soup

I would just end up eating something else tbh.

convinced I will lol at that line when i see Hamlet, I might get mistaken for a hysterical giggly Cumberbatchlet Grin

RoosterCogburn · 26/08/2015 23:00

The soup was so bad it was funny, my cooking is usually alright but this was not good - it reminded me of the 'carrot crush' Denise serves in one of the episodes of The Royle Family. I don't think my carrots were roasted for long enough so the texture was not soup like at all.

It was filling, just a small bowl and I didn't fancy anything else - perhaps I could patent it as a new weight loss method.

lorelei9 · 26/08/2015 23:31

Well, people did the Cabbage Soup Diet!!

You could call it Gold's Weight Loss Soup...with 22 carrots. (Sorry, I think the paint fumes might have got to me)

RoosterCogburn · 27/08/2015 16:31

Grin love it - when it takes off I shall credit you with the name.

DH has offered to cook tonight, I think he wants to avoid a repetition of anything carroty

In other news I had to go to my GP for a medication review today and when I walked in the first thing she said was "wow, you've lost weight" I came out grinning like a Cheshire cat.

lorelei9 · 27/08/2015 16:42

oh that's great - I mean about the doc, not DH cooking!

I have to see the doc in 2 weeks but that's not really enough time for a visible difference I think. I will point out I've lost weight though as I know it will be mentioned.
